I on the other hand have made a living out of hiding in the woodwork.  I am the master of the dodge and weave.  I love to pick against my own team. It gives me a since of freedom that only a transvestite (Ronnie Cheeks) can feel.

What?

Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I'm just a poor boy,i need no sympathy-
Because I'm easy come,easy go,
A little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me,

Lewis may be a first year starter, but like Kid said Bridgewater has beaten HSC each year with a new qb ( - 01 & 04).  Lewis is a great athlete and will make plays.  This game is gonna come down to total team play, not the play of one person.  I must agree the Outsider in that Lewis will be fine considering he has a defense helping him which has had Ricca's # every year and a stable behind him that is nearly unmatched in D3.  Even if it is with an OLD @$$  "rookie" quarterback the result isn't gonna change.

Jake "the Snake" is gonna get'r done!

I follow you about the Staggbowl but lost you with the " a couple brain farts away from missing out on the playoffs".  An ODAC championship assures a trip to the playoffs. That being said, right now brain farts are allowed depending on who you play in the ODAC. Again I reiterate, getting through the ODAC is a whole lot easier than getting through to the Stagg Bowl!

OK this is my last attempt at clarification! Look above and you will see "brain farts are allowed, depending on who you play in the ODAC." Which means this weekend no brainfarts allowed against HSC. As for the rest of the ODAC a few cases of mental gas passing is allowed b'cus those teams aren't up to BC & HSC's level, right now. Get It? ???

Llama, I hear what you're saying but let's not forget the close-call that BC had last season at RMC.  I would rather say that it is costly to have mental mistakes in ANY game, even in the ODAC.  This way BC will just roll over everybody.  With the mistakes it gives teams hope like RMC last season when they shouldn't have had a dream about playing with Bridgewater.  But I do understand what you're saying and am lost by Player's confusion on the subject.

Go Panthers!

RMC was, lets say "a gastric bypass"

well, i decided to tell work that they couldnt keep me away from HSC vs. BC this weekend.  I will be making the trip to Farmville to watch another choke by the Tigers in "their year".  Hopefully i will remain sober enough to see this one. :)

Just admit that any 1st year qb in a big game is a question mark  no matter who he plays for and we can drop it and admit that your dbs are not good.

Ok, first thought:
"Admit that your dbs are not good."
I don't think BC db core as a whole is that great.  But they do have a returning 1st Team All-ODAC/1st Team 2005 Pre-Season All-American in the secondary in Herndon.  As a unit, I don't think they've played well thus far, BUT I don't think they're worse than HSC's secondary.

Second thought:
"Just admit that any 1st year qb in a big game is a question mark  no matter who he plays for"

I thought Linfield's '1st year qb' did a pretty good job last year.  As did UMHB's freshman QB.

cuaplayer, you're right in that a QB starting for the first year in a system can be a question mark, BUT, if A) they're talented enough (see Linfield's Elliot) or B) surrounded with the right talent and game plans (see UMHB's Welch), they can take a team a long way.

I do also recall that the last two South Region Champions have started first year quarterbacks (UMHB 2004 and BC 2003).  That being said both of those teams also had great defenses and quality skill players.  Now for the BC vs. HSC, the balence of BC's offense will help their defense to come through.  The running game will help take the pressure off of Lewis.  For HSC, with very little running game to speak of Ricca must essentally win the game.  Lewis can be just as effective by managing a balanced offense and now worrying about winning the game himself.

mizzou mofia,

About the QB not at all saying he can't be good. Just saying that we haven't seen what he's capable of so I'm not gonna assume he's just another in a long line of good qb's until I see it.

I don't want anyone to think that I'm a BC hater or even rooting against them.

I only write about BC question marks and not HSC because without any of them posting I don't know much about HSC.

One other assumption I'm making is that after all these  years what we see is what we get with BC. They almost can't get any better. We all know thats pretty damn good and every year they will be somewhere in the top 10 or around it. HSC on the other hand is still getting better year by year. So they should get closer and closer to beating BC. Its not gonna never happen.

Unless HSC has already peaked. As fast as they started to get better I can't really assume that they've already peaked.

I don't think you're a hater cuaplayer!  From what I've seen of HSC-BC the past few years, I just don't think the BC QB situation is going to be the big issue in this game.

I DO think your pointing out the BC secondary is relevant though.  One other thing I'd throw into that comment that you haven't hit on yet... part of the reason I think BC's secondary has been getting torched more this year is because the defense is getting less pressure on the QB.  Losing their middle LB before the first snap of the season didn't help.  I don't have the numbers on the D-Line either, but they were getting pushed around some in the 2nd half against McDaniel...are they smaller?

This is the area that can bite BC this year.  Yes, it's the secondary, but that situation is related to other spots in the D.

I drove 1000 miles to make the last BC game at HSC.  I'm glad it's a much shorter trip this time.  Wouldn't miss it!

Oh really!

2004

HSC at Gettysburg •  W 59-16
HSC w/ Guilford • *  W 62-21

2005

HSC w/ Gettysburg •  W 56-40
HSC at Guilford • *  W 47-45

Are they really better this year?

Our defensive line is awesome, just banged up or young.  Our senior hauses in the middle (Seth and Chuck) have been injured off and on this year, but still play (like Gus did back in the day).  Hoover has always been undersized for his position, but definitely makes up for it in speed and strength.  Other than those three seniors, we have three sophs and two juniors (one of which was a transfer) on the depth chart at DE and DT.  Carlton Morrison (a 6'4'' sophomore) could really be good come his junior or senior year.  David Clements (junior) is so good that he's battled Hoover all year for his starting spot (Hoover started at DE as a soph and junior).  Then there is All-ODAC 2nd Teamer last season Tony Burt (junior) ... but he's only 5'10'' 226 ... but again, makes up for in speed and strength.

I feel like the shoe is on the other foot right now kid but I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you based on what I've seen so far this year.  They have not played "awesome" this year.  We've gotten minimal pressure on the qb from the front four and we pretty much got run over against Shenendoah and even a little bit by George Mason.

Now the talent is there, no doubt.  They (like the rest of the defense) just need to start making plays.  And they better play "awesome" this weekend!!!
