I think it's great that all you "has beens" are still around and show interest/pride in your school, and more importantly Division III football.  Even though we come on here and banter (and in some cases in a violent manner), I think we can all agree we have a mutual respect for one another.  I can honestly say that if Sydney wins this weekend, I'll root for them (and obviously still BC) the rest of the season and in the playoffs.  If BC doesn't get in with a 7-2 record, then I'll definitely attend the Tigers' playoff game (well, not if they have to travel to Texas) :)

I hope it's a great game tomorrow ... with no injuries ... and no coaches/fans fighting ... and a mutual respect once the game is over.  I'll have my #1 jersey on with newly embroidered "eh ... just call me 'kid'" on the back  ;D ... be sure to come up and say hi!

I'm with you all the way on the mutual respect. We all have a respect for what d3football represents and how much it means to its players and fans. I think all of us in the ODAC pull for each other as long as we aren't playing for each other or don't need losses for the playoffs.

Whats the best thing you ever heard on the board? Or on the field?

Senior year Homecoming vs. HSC (a BC victory BTW ;)).

I'm up against this short, skinny OT from HSC all day.  Not a great player, but real gritty and tough for his size.  Good battle all afternoon.  One play Boundorant goes back in a five step drop and I get this kid with a great swim, I mean he barely touched me.  So there's Walter right dead in my sights for a big homecoming sack... next thing I know I face plant into the turf after that kid tackles me from behind by the ankles.  So I get up, I'm sure my eye's are red from anger and I'm calling this kid every name in the book and a few I made up.  And he calmly looks at me and says, "Man I held you bigger than sh**.  Great rush."  Unbelievable.  I had to smile.  Great respect for the fight that kid put up to this day.  Football is a great sport and those of us who played know the odd way lessons are sometimes learned.

Man I can't wait for tomorrow!!!

A couple of thoughts from an old "never was"

Hurley tells us
Quoteif you pride yourself on being informed,  ask for the 2-deep from the B-water staff!

Then 'player and Miz tell us they are looking for the ODAC to be 4 deep.

All this old fart can say is "too" Deep for me.

You all have a great time down in the woods of Farmville. I gotta have the priviledge of attending a wedding in PA this weekend. So I'll be calling for some in game updates.

Now to get really out of character (I'm following Skoals lead) I'll make a bold prediction.

THE GAME WILL NOT BE AS CLOSE AS FOLKS MAY THINK
BC Puts it together and gets it done big time

How many Post Patterns ID's does Brian Awkard's family have?  C'mon Eagles...Great job sticking up for your player, but there is no way those stats point to a better receiver than those other guys on that list, even if you do account for the different styles in offense. BC isn't that run heavy a team that they only throw 10 times a game.

Miz,

Remember the time when Bobby Bouchet showed up at half time and the Mud Dogs won the Bourbon Bowl?

We do get 300 ypg on the ground, so why the need to throw?

And you know just as well that teams that get an early lead and want to hold on to it go to a more rushing type of offense the rest of the game.

Awkard is electrifying.  He, like Washington, can score anytime he has the ball in his hands.  He's just playing within a system that plays six or seven receivers every drive ... so he obviously won't get as many looks as a Martin or Barnette.

I voted for Awkard (no surprise) and I'm not related to him :)

I know, I know ... I quoted myself.  But I just did some quick math which resulted in the following:

Washington has touched the ball 54 times (43 rushes, 5 kickoff returns, 4 receptions and 2 passes) this season, and has scored 11 touchdowns.  That means he scores every five times he touches the ball.  :o

Find me someone (with 50+ touches) that has a better TD-to-touches ratio.

Good luck :)

What's rugbyguy's TD to touches ratio.  ;)

My crew should be heading out around 5 in the morning.  we might actually get to sydney before the bowties wake up.  They will enjoy waking up to us already being there though. I can assure that.

Just passed the football field where Clark was giving the Eagles one last word of encouragement.  I hope the Tigers are ready.

Not so fast ... they don't open up the gates until 10 am.  You will be able to get a nice place in line (especially if you get there around 7:30, haha) but you won't be able to "set up" your tailgate near the pond until 10 am.

I'll give you the statistical disparity.  But if I'm picking teams and need to win a game with the team I pick, there's no way in hell I'm going with any of those guys over Awkard.

I know ... our similarities are uncanny:

Both 5'10''
Both weigh 185
Both enjoy blasting "Fiddy" while cruising in our LS430s (ok, the latter is a lie)
Both rock at PS2's NCAA Football (well, I do)

Scary! :o
