I knew we could work through this tailgate thing !!!!!

Now for the fun stuff; this could be one of the best RMc vs. HSC games in decades. Both teams seem to be playing well, the winner captures the ODAC crown and advances to the plaoffs; in HSC's case probably a home game in the first round with a victory. The stakes really could not be higher.

What is the pause on HSC getting an at-large if things don't go their way on Saturday ? Is it possible for the ODAC to advance two teams ? I can't imagine but stranger things have happened !!!!!

Lets all pull for a well played game, that the officials stay out of it, and that the kids play injury free !!!

You mean like no questionable holding calls in the last two minutes of a close game that call a touchdown back?

      After reading  Around The Mid Atlantic one must wonder if  Arruza is running for political office?  :D After being around The Game for 40 years, living on the campus at H-S for 15, and attending  over half in person.....this game is more than just a game. Sure.....they all matter. Sure.....when it is for the ODAC title, it is elevated to a different level. Even as a young kid running around the H-S campus.....It was quite evident that there was something different about this game. It is something that permeates not only the air.....but your psyche as well. A W over the Jackets taste a little sweeter.....an L stings (pun intended) a little longer. Does it matter to the players and coaches as much as the fans? I think and hope so. Are we not all one in the same? Soon enough....THEY will be relegated behind the ropes too. GO TIGERS!!!

Very truthful words.  I played in 4 editions of The Game.  When I was at HSC there were two seasons.  One consisted of the 8 or 9 games from Sept to the first week of Nov., then there was Macon week.  The excitement rises.  The intensity rises. And the focus of the team rises.  It will be the largest crowd of the year and the fans and allumni will be talking about this game for the next 9 months or more.  When a player goes home, someone will ask about The Game.  When a player talks to a former football player, the former player will probably ask " What was your record against Macon?".  I agree, it is not just another game.  That is what makes it special.  Coach Arruza has not been involved in the rivalry very long and he may not have as much appreciaton for The Game as long time observers do.  I remember hearing Coach Favret talking early in his tenure at HSC.  He said that the previous season was not as good as he or the team wanted but it was a success because we beat Randolph Macon. 

Go Tigers!!  Beat Macon!!

Just like HSC85, I also played in four editions of "The Game"  And I do have to agree, if you went 1-9 with that one win being over Sydney, you could count it a successful season.

As far as Arruza being politically correct...I think you are just seeing the "speaking to the media and public" side of him....I think he is as interested in this rivalry as anyone

I saw the following post on the SCAC board and thought it applied to the ODAC Seniors as well.

All the more reason I was disappointed not to be able to connect with Favret to get something from him.

Don't know for sure but it's probably gonna be a mud bog.  And hot.  Think it's supposed to be sunny and 70.  Should be perfect for slowing down all those speedy backs the Tigers have! ;)

I truly wish I could be there this year; I don't like missing only my second game in 25 years, but I've got too much to do this year.  I'll be there in spirit however, and will be keeping tabs via the internet.

The field is going to play slow Saturday.  With the sun not being out today and early tommorow, I think its going to be a little sloppy.  I am going to take a trip back to the 2005-2006 season.  Macon's first game was against Frostburg after a huge thunderstrom the day before.  The game the scoreboard didnt work and the time and score were kept on the field.  That game played pretty well with the field holding up fairly nicely.  A little muddy around the endzones and sidelines but other than that, not to terribly bad.

Good luck to the Quakers tomorrow!  They've certainly played much better the past two weeks.  With all this rain, it makes me very thankful to have the new field turf in Armfield.  For anyone coming from Emory, it's supposed to be a beautiful day in Greensboro on Saturday - travel safely!

RMC tailgates in a parking lot which is between one endzone and the train tracks.  That same parking lot runs right up to the area proposed HSC tailgate area I mentioned above. 

Parking is going to be difficult.  My best advice would be to try near the softball fields and walk over.  There isn't much room on the campus as it is.  Ticket prices are $5 as far as I know.

I hear from a reliable source, there are two areas designated for HSC tailgating, one is back by the tennis courts (# 70 on map).  The other is near the admission building (#45 on map). Map link http://www.rmc.edu/Admissions/comevisit/campusmap.aspx   Not sure of exact configurations.  RMC tailgating is designated to the small parking lot between the Brock center (# 27) and the practice field (#64).

All students are being prohibited from parking on the Henry, Patrick, Caroline and Smith Streets (student cars will be towed) to allow for guest parking.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults.  Like you said RMCFan, to cover extra stands on the visitors side, clean up and security.

Helicopters are being brought in tomorrow morning to help with drying field.


I just hope it's a good game and the rain stays away.

Won't be any rain.  And I can't say that I've ever heard of bringing in a Helicopter to dry the field.  Now  that I think of it, that might do the trick!  Good luck to both teams.  Can't wait to who is going to represent the ODAC.  Good luck to both teams!
