Jeremybozz,

Will the new transfer create a quarterback contraversy or will the returning QB be the starter going in?

Coach Clark said Carlos will compete right away with Hagan Driskell and Jacob Hutchinson but Florida International ran the shotgun/spread offense while Bridgewater is running the pro style offense now.

Any thoughts on Hampden-Sydney ?

Guilford schedule is released.  Six ODAC games (finally, 3 at home and 3 away!) plus Greensboro, Methodist, Averett and Southern Virginia (GCP and MU at home, AU and SVU away).  Same ten opponents as last season, but some changes in the order of the games and the bye-week is now different (September 25).  September 4 will be here before you know it.  Go Quakers!

Guilford's recruited a new kicker, Tyler Hull, of Mt. Airy (NC).  He was being recruited by some higher division schools until an injury in last season's NCHSAA state championship game.  MAHS's 35-34 OT loss at Wake Forest's BB&T Field was the season's only blemish for the Granite Bears.

I'm a native of Mt. Airy and know his parents, so I'm especially glad to see him become a Quaker.  Good luck, Tyler!

70 Touchbacks!! That helps defense right off the bat. The 12 man as it were. Lets hope he does not get rocked

Yeah, that caught my eye as well.  Mt. Airy HS was a very high-scoring team last season and, with an undefeated record going into the state championship game, was either 14-1 or 15-1 on the season.  I think Hull will be a great addition for the Quakers, especially since last season's primary kicker left for Averett.   It's only about 60 miles to GCQ, so I hope a lot of his family and friends can see him play.  Since Mt. Airy's right on the Virginia stateline, it's also close to I-77 and I-81 ...  that makes it a reasonable trip to all the opponents up and down the valley.

Welcome to the message boards!

I'll toss out the shameless plug for our Kickoff 2010 publication. It'll be out in three and a half weeks, and it'll be a good place for you to get to know a lot of the teams your son will be competing against.

Though I'm sure a lot of folks on here already have their opinions of whether H-SC is going to be dethroned this season. :)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

As usual it will depend on whether or not they can come up with a decent defense (not always a sure thing). Not to mention the difficulty of replacing a quarterback of Sedlar's caliber and the general improvement at the other conference schools, E&H and Bridgewater coming to mind right away.

Always need Defense.  What the incoming group of freshmen, strong recruiting class?  I noticed that Bridgewater's recruiting classes are huge.

New to message board, so bare with me. I heard Bridgewaters recruiting class is huge, but are there any stand outs coming in? A friend was telling me about a D end from Louisa, anyone have any info on the kid?

Welcome to the place where intellectual rigor is put to the test everyday. LOL.

BC: always is good, always has a big class, always in the hunt. Very painful for the rest :)

BC has it's biggest team to start the season since 2005, which was the last Playoff Year, hopefully that's a good thing.   Competition always breeds success over smaller more complacent teams.

Nothing will compare to what we saw for the 2002 season after the Stagg Bowl appearance though.  Having at least 4-5 deep at each position was interesting come meeting time/practice.

Hampden-Sydney vs Averrett  Sep 4th.  This should be interesting seeing that the USA South Coaches picked Averrett as the pre-season #2.
