Bow ties will end their magnificant steak this weekend on their last drive with a fumble or pick. Or so the voices in my head tell me....but they say alot of things.  :)

Please tell me you aren't picking the Generals in your pick 'em! I know where you stand!  Just kidding. I'm hoping the Generals can head to H-SC undefeated in the ODAC and set up a defacto title game. Although R-MC could do the same by winning out I suppose. Isn't the ODAC tie-breaker H2H? That would make The Game the defacto title game. Anyway, one game at a time and 2-9 here we come!

If you do not entertain me with your playful male bantor and your anti-Ennui soliques I will send Herennius to see you and later on let Fulvia stick pins in your tougne.  ;)

What's the word out there on the team?
Hey, abnrgr.  I just marched through your message with both a dictionary (not needed) and several encyclopedias (definitely needed!) in hand.  Anti-ennui sililoquy.  Interesting terminology. Since fireworks over a certain class were banned in the U.S. in 1966, I think the closest I could come to living up to the spirit of "anti-ennui sililoquy" was when, in 1964, at the age of 12, I muttered the question, "I wonder what will happen if I drop an M-80 in this men's room commode?" to no one in particular at Slate Mountain Baptist Church.  The rest of the story is a part of both small munitions and waste management folklore of biblical proportions.  As a footnote, an unofficial eleventh commandment was added by my father later in the day.

On a more serious note, I've boiled the 2011 Quakers down to about four words:

1.  Injuries
2.  Turnovers
3.  Insufficient talent

Hope springs eternal, but the easiest half of the schedule's in the books at 1-4.

The bright spot?  We're better than Greensboro.  :)  As I posted on the USASAC board weeks ago, I think the Pride's looking at 0-10.

well you have to agree you are never boring, hence the anti....

When I was in the Infantry Officer's basic course several years ago the Harvard grapic slides (age) never ended with hordes of Soviet shock divisions being shown over and over. That was a ennui. Painful.....

Sorry about your boys. Injuries on top of turnovers always are non starters.

I thought you might like the Cicero reference.....you being D3 boards Cicero

Bow Ties go down this week

W&L with a big fourth quarter to knock off R-MC 34-30. Game was in doubt all the way to the end. Generals come from behind in the 4th and get a big pick to close out a tough road win. Generals 3-0 and heading home for two games. I am relieved to have E&H and R-MC on the road behind us, Bridgewater and Catholic are next on the docket. R-MC outgains W&L 477-462, but two turnovers are a big difference. Generals amazingly balanced, 231 yards running, 231 yards passing. Playing from behind the whole game put a crimp in the running game for the Generals.

Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers.....Oh what could have been!!!!!!!  Hurts to fumble the opening kickoff and then fumble the first punt all inside your 20.

I knew E&H would cause H-SC trouble. Just listening to that game last week against W&L had me believing they were a very good team. I know it is fashionable to knock the ODAC because we really don't have a team that's going to go deep in the playoffs, but the ODAC has at least 4 very good teams: H-SC, W&L, E&H and R-MC. I'll get a look at Bridgewater next weekend and I don't think they are much off the pace of those 4 teams if at all. Great to see that kind of balance in the conference. Much more fun than seeing one team year in and year out steamroll everyone (unless that team was W&L!).

Brilliant call! You should head out to Vegas while you're hot.  :)

You aren't kidding abnrgr nailed it right on the head! Of course, I'm incredibly glad I convinced him to take R-MC in his pick-em or it never would have happened! Just kidding. Pretty funny how good the call was.

Was just checking the SOS numbers and found it interesting that W&L (38), E&H (36) and H-SC (19) are all inside the top 50 right now. With no possibility of having two 9-1 teams this year, it looks like we'll probably pull only one playoff spot. However, if the SOS stay high, maybe a home game in the offing for the conference champion? I wouldn't have thought W&L's would be that high with games against F&M (2-4), Sewanee (2-4), Centre (5-0), Alma (1-6), Guilford (1-5), E&H (4-3), R-MC (5-2).  That's 4 teams under .500 and 3 above. But I guess with Bridgewater (4-2), Catholic (4-2), and H-SC (6-1) still to come the average is good. And the OOWP is pretty high, so I guess that helps offset Alma and Guilford. Anyway, someone posted this in the General Football section, but here's the link of anyone is interested.

Concur HSC74. I'll eat crow.

You know it's funny. I actually read your original post wrong. I thought you meant the Generals would win on an interception late in the game, making you incredibly accurate. I skipped over the reference to "magnificent streak" as W&L's conference win streak. Hmm, that makes a couple of my subsequent posts read as either a) pretty obnoxious or b) just plain stupid. My apologies to everyone.
