Not a slap at your Quackers, I didn't use the word EVEN. My point is, I get nervous on game day period regardless.

The Tigers are off this weekend; hopefully I'll be able to enjoy a round of golf unless I can find a good ODAC game to attend. Where is the best game this weekend?

That was the point I was making. That's a tough choice. Bridgewater at W&L has the biggest championship effect and should be a good game. Bridgewater's win over St. Vincent is looking better every week. Only common opponent so far is Guilford, who was beaten up by both teams with Guilford travelling both times. The big difference is Bridgewater let them score, W&L didn't.

E&H at Catholic might also be a good game. Catholic is hard to pin down after their cardiac start to the year. But E&H is coming off two very, very tough home losses to both W&L and H-SC by a total of 5 points. Common opponent of H-SC and R-MC suggest E&H should win, though.

I'm only kidding, guys.  There was no real offense taken - and I did notice how it was worded.  When you're down like the Quakers are now, all you can do is laugh and have a bit of a gallows sense of humor about it.  W&L and HSC are certainly having great seasons.  Hopefully, Guilford will also be back on track soon.

I figured you knew, but over message boards and email tone is so easily mistaken. It's also never good to kick someone when they are down, especially since it's likely we'll all be laying on the floor at some point. Karma can be very painful! Having Guilford come back will only make the ODAC better, so I'm hoping sooner rather than later.

As long as the ODAC beats the dreaded Black Hatted Ferrum Panthers :)
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

I think Coach Rusiewicz will build this program up again.  Talent-wise, I don't think he had the skill players he needed this year ... and some of the better players got hurt early.  Guilford's on fall break, so I suspect this week's game with RMC might be sparsely attended.

Basketball is right around the corner and the Quakers certainly will be a force again this year.

I'll be in Greensboro next week. I've not been on that campus since 1975 (I guess Guilford was NAIA at the time). Looking forward to seeing it again. I here facilities have really been upgraded.

Good luck against RMC. Pull the biggest upset of the year !!!!!

Just a few minutes until the start of the Bridgewater at W&L game. As with all W&L games, it can be watched live through First Team Broadcasting. Best way to get to it is the link found here:

http://www.generalssports.com/sports/fball/2011-12/Schedule

click on video. The W&L announcers have been pretty good and can also be caught just over the radio by clicking on the audio link.

Penalties killing the Generals right now. Five defensive penalties with 3 of them being very hard to understand. On the other hand, Bridgewater took advantage of W&L's poor kick coverage for a long return and a very tough run up the middle on their second possession. Credit to them for having two good drives. W&L's offense also stalled on their second drive on a holding penalty. Very unusual to have six penalties on the Generals in the first quarter. Tied 7-7 as Bridgewater poorly fakes a field goal. End of first quarter. Generals' ball.

jknezek

Late drive gives Generals a 29 yard field goal but then use the prevent defense to give Bridgewater a shot at a long 41 yard field goal that flies wide left and well short to finish the half Generals up 24-21.

Generals mostly hurting themselves giving up a long TD on 4th and 10 from the 32. Getting stuffed on a 4th and 7 inside Bridgewater's 20 didn't help either. Kick coverage is abysmal. No turnovers, though Bridgewater has put the ball on the ground once and had a loose ball on a punt. At halftime, this game is very even with both offenses rolling along. Generals over 330 yards of offense, Bridgewater around 225, although that is a result of short fields, not any less strength on offense.

I get the feeling if the Generals could cover a kick and force Bridgewater to start inside their 30 they might force some punts. Maybe...

jknezek

The best you can say is the Generals are coming out even on hurting themselves and scoring. Kick to open the second half goes out of bounds giving the Eagles good field position, again. Penalty pushes Bridgewater up the field, followed by a beautiful 51 yard td run from Carter, who has just mangled the Generals. Generals follow up with a good drive, only to stall themselves out on a penalty just outside the Bridgewater 30. Short punt finally leaves Bridgewater with bad field position and the Generals D comes up with a stop.

Ensuing possession the Generals go 3 and out including a snap that no one but the Bridgewater defense was expecting. Another stop from the defense and finally the Generals offense comes out to put the Generals back on a nice drive that included a 4th and short pickup. More bad coverage on the kick gives Bridgewater good field position with a few minutes left in the 3rd. So far Bridgewater has put the ball on the ground 4 times, including the botched punt, recovering three times and fumbling the last out of play.

Finally on a bobbled pass thrown by Carter out of the wildcat leads early in 4th quarter to a W&L interception in their own endzone. 31-28 Generals at end of third before the pick.

jknezek

After W&L punishes Bridgewater's interception with a long drive to score a TD, the Generals finally cover a kick. Put Bridgewater in 3rd and 5 in their own half only to see Carter continue his amazing day by breaking a 60+ yard TD. Generals up 38-35, mid 4th, with the ball.

Generals over 500 yards on the day so far, Bridgewater around 420. Still a lot of football to go and one more mistake may decide this game.

jknezek

Another big drive for the Generals results in a TD with 4:32 to go. Generals go back up by 10, 45-35. Generals over 400 yards rushing, 575 yards total offense. Bridgewater's defense now looks either tired or out of gas. However, the Generals really haven't had much luck against the Eagles offense either. Eagles have 420 yards, 275 on the ground including 229 by Carter. Eagles get good field position again, starting at their own 41.

jknezek

A big pass play to Carter, who is Bridgewater's offense today, moves the Eagles well into W&L territory. Bridgewater snaps the ball over the QB's head, only for the QB to recover and pitch the ball, behind the line, out of bounds, with no receiver within 10 yards. No flag for grounding to continue a tough day for the officials who have flagged a few things that were tough to spot at the same time managing to waive off 3 thrown flags after very long huddles. Seems like the group clearly is not on the same page.

Bridgewater pushes through a well-covered tipped ball 21 yard pass into the endzone with 3 minutes to go. 45-42 Generals. Interesting play and definitely gives Bridgewater hope. Bridgewater almost recovers the on-side kick, but Generals have possession at Bridgewater 38 with 3 minutes to go.

Getting tired of watching my waspers find ways to lose the game.  Terrible clock management and costly turnovers.
