Damn! It's gotten really quite in this board since the BC/HSC game. Skoaltrain if you make it down for the EH/HSC game make sure to look for your step-PAPPY.I'll be the old guy in the bowtie, pink shirt, madras pants, and black&white saddle shoes.
Watch out for our new secret play. All I can tell you its called: The end around double reverse trap with trips to one side and a double slot.   Peace--I'm the E&H Dad  Watch out HSC your going down!

You're right E&H dad... it's an off week for BC so it'll be slow.. at least next week we have GC and there are a few of their fans around here.

E&H sucks (kidding.. but only slightly) :D

Man, that was an interesting weekend.  Glad to see that BC could keep things rollin' though.  I knew Jake could get it done.  Rest up and get the Quakers next week. Ricca still can't win when it matters, HA!

Outsider, I remember some of the defensive guys wearing tennis shoes at Lycoming cause the field was so hard.  I guess the tennis shoes helped when Jermaine ran to the endzone on the fumble, but maybe that was just speed.  My elbows were swollen and bruised for a month after that from getting knocked down.

Western PA has that field turf all over the place.  I would suggest that BC look into getting the turf cause it's great, other than the heat.  Also it's not gonna kill it if it floods cause it's happened in the Pittsburgh area a few times and the field is still fine.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree that for Bridgewater, a team that is year after year built on speed, the faster turf would give us an edge.

I am not sure that Field Turf has been proven as safe or safer than grass.  I don't want to disagree with you because that seems to be your field (no pun) of knowledge, but I've read that Field Turf is somewhere in between grass (safest) and Astro Turf (worst).

Also, I'm not sure BC would be as prepared to play teams on grass since most of our away games are played on the real stuff.

Again, I just prefer natural grass.  It's a personal thing.  I'll still come to see the games as long as Coach Clark is on the sidelines.

Catholic is in the middle of fundraising to refurbish its football stadium, including adding turf -- think they're about three-quarters of the way to starting construction. Anyone else?

I don't know how to conduct a poll, but I wonder how many BC faithful would like field turf and how many old farts like me want to keep the grass.

Sounds like I'm the only grass man so far.

any idea of the cost of Catholic's upgrades?

That will be nice when Catholic gets turf cause their field has been one of the worst in the league every year.  Just the playing surface itself, not commenting on the stadium as  a whole.

Pakonwr, don't have the info on me. I'll check around for it.

i like grass too... nothing beats walking onto a freshly mowed field that still has the faint smell of stale sweat... kinda sick that i enjoy that huh? i guess it grew on me since i've been smelling it since i was 2

also, see my below post that no renovations will be made to jopson field until alumni/boosters/what have you prove they can help support the cost of rings year in and out (although i must admit that's a great problem to have)

Hey, I won an ODAC title and I didn't get a ring.
Are the BC football players playing for a ring? Is that the motivation?

I think anybody would rather play on grass than on a turf field, but the field turf really feels like grass when you are playing on it. The only difference would be in wet weather, which I never played in on turf.
Catholic's turf field as far as I know is scheduled to be installed this spring. I don't know the exact cost of the upgrade, but Catholic is trying to raise somewhere in the 3.5 million range for the field and other improvements to the Dufour Center.
