Thanks, Hasa. I'd hate to lose W&L to those snobby schools! 1 of my colleagues in grad school was from Sewanee & it's a wonder he didn't drown in the daily NOLA showers as his nose was so stuck up. Unbelievable.  HOPE THAT never happens. Of course, I'm retiring so I shouldn't worry about, but I do. ODAC conference is in my blood. Why no limericks this season? I've missed them.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Is the Championship game being televised ?

TigerFan; Heck yes.  7:00 kick-off.  ESPN2 if I'm not mistaken.  Skoaltrain has been busy rubbing pork butts and getting his trailer in order.  Pork Butts:  $110.34.  Gas:  $73.45 fill-up.  Charchol:  $17.96.  D3Football Fellowship:  Priceless.  See you guys Friday.  I'll be rolling in around 4:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday to start smoking.  Need at least 18 hours on it.  Safe travels to all UWW and Mt Union Fans.

Peace and Nasty Pork Grease!

There once was a Tiger at grad school,
Whose Daddy said class was his gene pool.
He stuck up his blue nose
At all peons he chose
To allow on his planet - uncool!

Skoal, kid, etal.  Sorry to say but no Stagg trip for me.  Work is in the way.  Sorry that I won't get to BS with you guys.  Toast one for me.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

My flight arrives in Roanoke Thursday around 5:30.  Will stop by stadium and check on who is there as soon as I can.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

SAA? SSA? Splain
Olinemom, let me get you up to speed.  The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) has split and a new conference was formed.  The first eight members of the newly formed Southern Athletic Association (SAA) are:  Berry (new to DIII), Birmingham-Southern, Centre, Hendrix, Millsaps, Oglethorpe, Rhodes and Sewanee (University of the South).  Currently, the SAA only has five football playing members, but Berry and Hendrix have announced plans to add the sport.  Oglethorpe seems to be standing pat for the moment.  Meanwhile, the University Athletic Association (UAA) has also seen some changes.  The UAA has eight members (including Brandeis, Emory, NYU and Rochester), but only four teams have football (Carnegie-Mellon, Case Western Reserve, Chicago and Washington University).  This leaves these four teams in the cold as far as a football AQ is concerned, so ... they're individually joining two conferences as affiliate members for football only.  Wash U. and Chicago are going to the Southern Athletic Association, while CWR and CMU are opting for the more geographically compact Presidents Athletic Conference.

When W&L gets brought into the conversation, it's because of their academic and athletic affiliation over the years with schools such as Centre, Emory, Rhodes and Sewanee.

Hope this helps!

Good summary, hasa.  The only thing you left out is that the SAA left the Texas members of the SCAC out in the cold when it comes to football.   Trinity (TX), Austin, and (soon) Southwestern have no prayer of finding a Pool A conference unless they affilliate with the ASC (very unlikely), SCAIC (probably as unlikely), or something even more strange.    The new western SCAC will probably be OK in most other sports.

WesleyDad!  You know I love you too Brother!  Here's a big shout out to you. Get some good rest and drive safely.  By the time you get there the pork will be ready to pull.  I'm going to need some help.

You know I'm down Brother.  Looking forward to it.

almost ready to pack the car.  jambalaya is made, thank to my wife.  mac and cheese is cooling off.  case of water will be on ice for anyone who prefers clear liquid.  last thing on the agenda is a trip to my local microbrew restaurant to pick up a growler of russian imperial stout and hoppolicious for my liquid refreshment.  hit the wawa for some ice, pack the coolers, and load the trunk.  Hope to get a couple of hours sleep with the alarm set at 300 to be in Salem by 900.  looking forward to seeing my stone station friends and my mount friends and maybe even chat with the UWW people, well 2 out of 3 aint bad. ;)  hoping that the showers either hold off or move out by gametime.  see you all in a few.

I have been watching ESPN2 all day and the ticker at the bottom for NCAAF has the Div.1 FCS semi-finals with times - but nothing on the game tonight. Thanks for nothing ESPN. Even if you are not a fan of either team make it a D3 football event. Remember that one day your team will be in the Stagg and you will want networks to cover it - lets give them some ratings so that can happen. If you don't watch the game thats fine - just turn it on. Maybe if the ratings are decent ESPN will stop moving the game to friday (a TV dead zone!) or moving to a smaller ESPN network so they can show some damn Poker tournament! Even if you not a fan of the teams playing - we are all fans of DIII football!
