Typical ODAC coaches voting.  Will be a very competitive season.  I wouldnt put a whole lot of stock in the Catholic U vs W&L game last year.  The QB's dad passed just before the game and he played anyway.  It was a rough trip for the whole team.  I think it will come down to the big three.  Sydney, Macon and W&L.

Ouch. Didn't know that. Would certainly explain it and I'm very sorry to hear that. They looked and played like a team that had somewhere, anywhere, else to be and I guess they did. When I watched Guilford take a similar pasting it was very clear that they were out there scrapping the whole time, something Catholic didn't show that day.

Former Guilford kicker Tyler Hull of Mt. Airy (NC) will join the University of South Carolina Gamecocks this fall.  Tyler played one season for Guilford in 2010 and then attended Surry (NC) Community College last season.  He will enter USC as a sophomore with 3 years of eligibility remaining.  I grew up in the same neighborhood as his Mom and attended both Guilford and USC, so I definitely wish him well.

Always nice to see a X ODAC boy do well. I hope things work out for him at USC.

I agree - he's a nice kid from a good family and his HS team Senior year went 14-1 - their only loss was in OT in the state championship game.  He was a DI talent who was probably headed to Va Tech until he got injured in the state championship game.  Guilford had him one season (Coach Kiesel's last season when the Quakers were 0-10), so it didn't surprise me to see him leave after one year and try to rehab to get back to DI status.

he should have transferred to hsc after his freshman year; i forgot HSC likes to go for it on 4th down. a good punter would be wasted talent !!!!!!

Good luck in the big season opener. bring home the trophy and bragging rights for the entire year.

You would have thought a punter would have loved playing for an 0-10 team.
Hampden Sydney College
ODAC Champions 77, 82, 83, 87, 07, 09, 11, 13, 14
NCAA Playoffs - 77, 07, 09, 10, 11, 13, 14
The "Game" 60 wins and counting...
11/18/2018 Wally referred to me as Chief and admitted "I don't know about that!"

W&L reports a fairly typical 82 to camp with an also rather typical 23 first years for Coach Scott Abell's first recruiting class. Here's hoping this class can help replace the standout class of 2012.

W&L scrimmages Ferrum on Thurs. Can't figure out where and since I wouldn't make it anyway, it doesn't matter. Good to hear they are getting a good scrimmage in though.

went by and checked out the "new" Day Field and it is impressive. Still lacking in seating capacity on the visitors side but the complex is attractive. Good luck this year minus the second Saturday in Nov. !!!!!
