QuoteThe field should be the final improvement not the first

Agreed!

Wish list:

1.  A concession stand (That's not in the basement of an old building.
2. Restrooms (See above)
3. A place to sit down. If the stands are at maximum capacity when we play a Club Team. What's is going to be like at Homecoming, Parent's Weekend. Not to mention next year with HSC.
4. A Pressbox that can host my boys from D3football comfortably, cause they are going to be visiting BC for the playoffs for years to come.

Yeah, but everybody knows the best athletes play baseball. Oh, and tennis!
Hey Hug....I played football and tennis.  What kind of athlete does that make me?

Here is an interesting way of asking the question of improvements...

Do you improve things for fans first or for players first? (and don't cop out by saying for both!)

For instance, obviously restrooms/concessions are for fans.  Field conditions more so for players.

HUG: Missed you at HSC.  I too have a wish list.

1.  Concession Stand:  You have that already at Stone Station:  My revision:  More Pork!
2.  Restrooms:  Rent Port-a-Potty's at $75 each per weekend.
3.  Bring a camp chair and pull right up to the tailgate.  It's always on the radio in my car.
4.  Get a wireless 802.11G internet connection and let them broadcast live from Stone Station.  (Which I'd like to thank NTELOS for providing all Voice and Internet Connectivity to Bridgewater College)  I know, shameless plug for NTELOS.

Kid,
That was a weird combination back in the day....

Hey, I'm all for getting rewarded. Looky, looky!

I can't sleep at night either, threw my shoulder out my junior year,

Of course Hug threw his shoulder out throwing a chilly one back and not throwing a baseball.....

Hug

kid,

The improvements that I outlined could be done without fear of flood.  I don't know if a levee would ever happen.  I could see field painting as something that could be done right away.  Artificial turf would be a recruiting tool to try to attract speed, but will not happen without a levee.

CBE, I didn't say I did it playing baseball.  ;) I may have done is up at Hone Quarry, Falling in that big ditch. And don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about.

EHCTailgate-  I would guess and hope that as a coach, they would much rather the players be happy and have a ring than their own salaries be increased.  Now I know that is not always the case, but you would think a good college coach would put his players first.

Endzone-  yes football is a tough sport that plays with pads on during the heat of summer, blah blah.  lol.  But I know for a fact that the baseball team at BC works as hard as any team in division III.  6-7 hour practices in the "off-season" (fall season) are no joke.  I have been in many friendly arguments with football players about which sport works the hardest, so i wont get into it.  But i do know that this baseball team works as hard as anyone

bcsportswriter,
You forgot to mention the part about throwing with an arm that can barely be lifted during one of those 7 hour practices.   ;)

I prefer the Copout. BOTH! The outline I mentioned covered concessions, restrooms, pressboxes, and new lockerrooms for the players. The new stands are for the fans, but recruits enjoy having all of those seats full to see a play like Brian made last week. ;)

My question is: What have you been doing with that arm?  No wonder you can't throw.  Heck, I can hardly break the wrapper of a snicker bar after that.....

We know you don't have a girlfriend RM so it's cool and all is right with the Lord.  He won't hold that against you.  We all do it.

Apparently Stone Station is becoming legendary outside this message board. Check out the DNR article on Rowdy

As I read these posts about field improvement, it strikes me that the BC has had a remarkable football transformation on a field not that much different than the one I saw 25 years ago.  Coach Mike Clark Iand a supportive college president, Phil Stone) has been the consistent factor in that transformation, not the facilities.

Does anyone know what Clark's plans are?  Is he going to be at BC for the rest of his career?  Is there any risk of his being lured away?  Is there any real likelihood that he might leave?
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!
