Given the results in the past 12 years (which includes the Vogelbach era), the fact that Guilford is such a young team and this year's venue (at HSC!), I think prudent Guilford fans should go into tomorrow's game with confidence, but not a lot of bravado.  Let's see what the "teams" can do between 1 pm and 4 pm.

I always liked you hasa! +k

NFL15

Wow, lots of self rightous posters on this board that apparently think they own it. Sorry, Your wrong! I think alot of teams are pissed off that Guilford is a stronger team this year. I guess they have been a Homecoming nightmare for some of you. I can see the coach's in their office saying, mmm, homecoming what team will be a sure win? Oh ya, GUILFORD. That's what so great about recruiting, you never know what you have until they are on the field. Worked out well for the G MEN.

For years hasanova has been a lone guilford supporter on these boards. I originally registered back in the mid 2000s and then dropped off for a while, came back about 2 years ago under a different name. hasanova was here the whole time promoting ALL of Guilford's sports through thick and thin.

Those of us who support other teams respect hasa and have always had good words for him and expressed the hope Guilford will improve in football. It can only make the ODAC stronger for the teams to be stronger. What we didn't expect was a bunch of johnny-come-lately Guilford fans coming to a very collegial and friendly board and stirring the pot in the midst of a 3-4 season. No one would say a word if you simply supported your team, but some of the posts, both early in the year and now, have been down right irritating.

I guess it's just something we'll have to put up with. Sadly.

Band Wagoners and fair-weather fans...

I don't think so. I just think there is some pent up exuberance surrounding the Quakers right now. Guilford IS having a very good year, with some surprise wins, and much to be proud of. I don't think anyone in the ODAC will argue that. The program certainly is heading in the right direction.

And maybe it's just because this board has been so friendly, to everyone, for so long. The long-term posters are very respectful. The change in tone just feels a little jarring and, to my mind, unfortunate. Civility is a hard thing to find online and even harder to preserve.

It is my hope that the long-term posters here will have a moderating effect on the newer ones. Really hope the opposite doesn't happen.

It is nice to see some new blood posting. In the last few days we've added a W&L poster and some Guilford ones. They seem to be replacing some of the R-MC people who we miss this year and a few E&H parents that disappeared after their kids graduated the last few years.

Funny ABNRGR I never sussed out who you rooted for in the last couple years. For some reason it just never seemed to register that you are also a GC-Q poster! You and hasa have definitely been through the battles. I don't spend enough time on the basketball boards, I might have known better then.

i think i have posted a total of 4 times EVER, so my opinion should not be heavily weighed...

that said, i'm sure some h-sc players are thanking some of this week's posts for motivation.

i'm excited that guilford has turned their program around...but as someone mentioned earlier, it is still TEAM game, and one of these TEAMS will prove tomorrow between 1-4 who deserves to be competiting for the ODAC title in the final weeks of the season.

LOL - I see "NFL15" has left this field of play.

All of you make very good points regarding the posts.

Yes, after losing for so long, to now have some success.... guess you could consider us having some unchecked emotions.

+k. Now lets get down to football. I'm still debating driving down to Montgomery tomorrow to catch the Wesley at Huntingdon game. If the weather was going to be better, it'd be a no brainer. Cool and windy has me wondering if I should just stay home and try and catch my Generals at Catholic on the computer.

DGPugh

drive to Montgomery... we will buy u a cola or coffee... your choice
we are hoping ....agin hoping... it will be a good game

Quote from: hasanova on October 25, 2012, 10:22:42 AMSo, if a 180 pound freshman runner for an unranked team takes the hand-off at his own 2 yard line and runs into the Mount Union defensive line at 8 mph, his next view will be:

a) the turf at the 3 yard line
b) purple jerseys on all four sides at the 2 yard line
c) the sky from his prone position on his back at the 1 yard line
d) the ref signaling a safety
e) the nurse at the local ER
most likely all but a and c

the purple jerseys he would see on the 2 yard line would be defensive backs, and the 180 lb rb would see them from 5 yards behind the line as he is lying in a prone position 3 yards deep in the end zone as the ref signals safety and he (the player) contemplates an ambulance ride because the muc defensive front 7 has moved the line of scrimmage into the end zone :)

Narch--this is perfectly well reasoned!!  Having been to MUC or now as it is known, UMU, this is exactly what happens to the poor other team on the football field.  and the fans in the stadium freeze.  COLDEST PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN TO WATCH FOOTBALL.  MAYBE UMHB can take care of them again during the play-offs?
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Congratulations to the Tigers - clearly the better team today.  Ok Guilford, put your game face on and get ready for CUA and E&H!

RMC 27 SU 24 ... RMC kicks FG with 5 seconds to win it!

Boxscore ... http://suhornets.com/sports/fball/2012-13/boxscores/20121027_vxl3.xml

That's only part of the story. R-MC misses an extra point that would have tied it at 17. SU then scores a TD and extra point to go up 24-16 with 3:16 left. R-MC drives for a TD and gets a 2 point conversion to tie at 24 w/about 1:30 to go. R-MC  then intercepts a pass and drives to about the 3 and kicks the winning FG.
