I was part of several uninvited cross border incursions on 4 different continents.  :)

From coaching NAIA, playing at Lees-McRae (JUCO Does that count and laying the worst beating on Hank Norton and the Panthers up to that point in their school history?), and watching I have seen every college football game in NC that existed from 1970-2003. From FSU to UVA I've seen it enough to consider myself lucky to live in a country that has this.

Lets face it men. NOTHING is like college football.......... at any level.
Those away games are tough, abnrgr.  I'd say your experiences top us all.  :)

We are indeed lucky to have college football ... and HS and Pro.

Tiger fan,

Did you make the game? How was the overall experience? (final result aside).

BC over Greensboro was almost a blowout in the 1st qtr. BC was efficient and locked in until they got up big early. Little bit of complacency and GC kept fighting. GC is better than last year and will give some teams trouble. Looking forward to Ferrum now.

Oh for crying out loud. Did those big bad Methodist fans pull your pants down in celebration?  ;D

I haven't done my homework, so I don't know the ODAC record, but Guilford's Tyler Hunt booted a school-record 81-yard punt on Saturday at Methodist.  He kicked it from his own 19 and it sailed over the receiver's head and into the end zone.   It was a calm, sunny day with no apparent tailwind ... he just kicked the crap out of it.  lol

One for you JKnezek. that was funny. :)

Anyway Hasa....you are getting old. that should have been a slick C130 dropping Para's or Rangers. Close enough.

The environment was excellent. As stated, the game result is something to forget. Defense played well, offense struggled to say the least. The number of turnovers is what one would expect in a season, not in one game. Congrats on the win and good luck the remainder of the season.

Hasa, I have been to Guilford, played there twice and saw the 2011 HSC vs GC game. Just left it off my list.

On to next week and the Coast Guard Academy. Hopefully HSC can figure out how to hold on to the ball.

We are 2/3rds of the way through the annual ODAC/USASC unofficial challenge. The results look good for the ODAC, but it is important to note that no ODAC team plays Huntingdon, LaGrange or NC Wesleyan, while W&L and Catholic did not schedule a USASC opponent.

Bridgewater 1-0 (Greensboro away), Ferrum on tap home
E&H 2-0 (Ferrum, Maryville both at home), Methodist on tap away
Shenandoah 1-0 (Ferrum away), CNU on tap away
RMC 1-0 (Averett away) finshed
Guilford 1-1 (Greensboro,Methodist both away), Averett on tap home
HSC 1-1 (Averett home, CNU away) finished

So, the ODAC is 7-2 with 4 games to go. Of those 4 games, the ODAC should win Bridgewater hosting Ferrum and Guilford hosting Averett. E&H visiting Methodist is more of a toss up in my opinion and Shenandoah will have a tough time at CNU. I hope the ODAC will go 10-3, but 9-4 is a definite possibility. Either way, it should be another good year for the ODAC. CNU, however, appears to have the blue chip win as far as match ups involving teams expected to compete at the top of the respective conferences.

Of course, balancing that out is Shenandoah's win over Ferrum, giving the ODAC the result in teams that might not be expected to compete at the top of the conference.

I show the long through 2012 is a tie at 76 yards. In 1991 Bob Ehret hit a 76 yard punt for W&L and Christian Adams did it for Guilford College in 2003. However, that may not be complete information as the data is only shown for the punter who had the best average in that year. It is possible that a different punter hit a longer punt, but did not take the title for best annual average.

In a bit of a breather for H-SC, they did not take the record for most interceptions thrown in a game Saturday night! That still belongs to Walt Bondurant of HSC vs RMC in 1998 and Pat Truxillo vs E&H in 2003. They managed 6. There are 13 individuals tied at 5 as of 2012, including Travis Lane of HSC, and now we can add one more to that group.

There is not a record in the books for most turnovers in a game, kind of a shame, would have liked to know where 8 stands.

Jk

I'm sure the 8 turnovers will be high on the list, if not at the top. Include the 4th down attempts that failed and that adds four more turnovers to the total. Certainly a game to forget. Hopefully the Tigers will be able to put this one in the record books and go on about their business. Good luck to your Generals on Saturday.

CNU has a very manageable schedule the rest of the way. I would not be surprised to see them go 10-0 making a loss that feels really bad not so bad in the end. That being said, it wouldn't have taken much to turn that game around given the plethora of turnovers. Hopefully H-SC has it out of their system... until they face W&L! Coast Guard has not looked good this year, so despite the long bus ride this should be a chance to get back on track.

W&L has to go to their personal house of horrors this week. The Generals have more losses to Centre than to any other team in their history (36), except HSC (also 36 oddly enough). Sadly they win even fewer against Centre (23) than they have against HSC (33). At Centre, W&L is 9-22 over the years, and it only looks that good counting a win in 1897 and not counting the 1-2 record the teams share from "neutral site" games in Louisville in the 20s and 30s.

Since the teams started playing regularly in 1955, W&L is something like 8-19 in the series in Danville... Centre has not been kind to W&L and the Generals are really going to need to fight to win this game.

OK, thanks.  Glad you've been to every ODAC venue.  What years did you play at HSC?  Hope Guilford's Armfield stadium looks better to you now than it did before 2006!
