Don't really pay much attention to ODAC Football since VWC doesn't have a team, but I recently stumbled across the fact that former Tennessee QB Nash Nance plays for Hampden-Sydney! How is he looking out there? Does he look like he would have solved UT's current QB woes? lol

Well, he was ODAC offensive player of the week twice last year and once already this year. He was first team All-ODAC QB last year leading the league in yards per game, total yards, and passing touchdowns. This year he is leading through 3 games in Yards per game passing, second in TDs, but he is also first in interceptions.

So overall, he's been the best QB in the ODAC by most measures and earned his first team All-ODAC selection as a QB last year. He seems to be off to an equally good start this year, though one interception filled game will skew his stats in that category. As a team, last year's 6-4 record was not up to H-SC's recent standards.

Does he look like an SEC QB? I don't know, but in my opinion, probably not. He does, however, look like a very, very good D3 QB.

Difficult to know which ODAC is best at this point but I do know this; if HSC does not get healthy they will have a difficult time winning the ODAC. How good is CUA & E&H ? I think I have a handle on RMC, BC & W&L.  USCGA fields a poor football team but that campus is impressive and the view is even better.

Tough loss Saturday nite. Hopefully your Quakers will rebound for conference play.

Jk

W&L just can't win at Centre but sounds like the game was competitive and you lost to a good team.
Thanks.  Very disappointing result.  I think the Quakers are better than the AU game.  Weather was definitely a factor, but we need to hang on to the ball.

I feel your pain based on the 9 HSC turnovers against CNU. That one still hurts.
Do ya'll play Saturday ?

Yes he "looks" like an SEC QB. He's 6'4" and weighs 220lbs. There are very few that size playing D3. Would help UT this year?  Harder to say but he's got all the tools, arm strength, foot work, and brains. Plus he's a great teammate.

Thanks.  Open date - next game is at W&L on Oct. 5.

In addition to how TigerFan responded to the Nash Nance question, he also runs a 4.6 40 when healthy. Not many D3 QB's have his combination of size, speed and skill set. As earlier stated and in addition to what I've stated, he is a good person and a well respected team member. I think he will only get better as the season progresses.

Good luck to your Generals this weekend. I believe one other ODAC team playing this week but not sure and too lazy to look it up.

Looking forward to Oct. 5th and the start of ODAC competition. This season is going to be fun to watch.

Laziness is not a problem when someone else will do it for you.  :)  Besides Sewanee at W&L, Anna Maria visits Catholic this Saturday.

Thanks, and I agree. Hoping W&L gets past Sewanee without another slip up.

Statistically, assuming most teams are created equally (probably not), there should be 1/8 of the teams undefeated after week three.  To keep things simple, I'll use 256 as an approximation of the number of teams playing DIII football.  This means about 32 undefeated teams are vying for the Top 25 - plus teams such as St. Thomas, Wesley, Franklin, Wittenberg, Widener and Cal Lutheran who lost head-to-head match-ups with other Top 25 teams or traditional rivals.  In my opinion, that's one reason E&H is not getting "a lot of recognition" so far.  Personally, I don't think the Wasps will be on the national radar unless they start at least 5-0.

In reality, though, there are 64: 59 if you omit the NESCAC schools since they've played just one game.

Also, as Keith and I noted in the podcast this week, E&H has gone unbeaten to open the season before.

...and he threw 5 int's against a d3 team

he's a legit d3 player, but there is little to suggest that he is/was a legit sec player - to be honest, if he was, he probably wouldn't be on an odac roster...there are a lot of levels of football between the sec and the odac

although i haven't seen nance in person, my vote for best qb in the odac would go to kyle boden after his virtuoso performance against the monarchs last weekend :)

the kid is completing almost 81% of his passes on the season - i know that ehc probably hasn't played a team as good as cnu , but he hasn't played against middle school teams, either (remember, mu beat cnu at cnu the last regular season game of the year last year...averett and coast guard probably aren't any better than ferrum and maryville) - i don't think most d3 qb's could complete 81% of their passes in 7 v 7 drills

Thanks.  I thought of that, but to paraphrase someone from a few days ago "I was too lazy to look it up." lol

Coming from somebody 15 minutes away from Neyland and in the heart of Big Orange Country..Nance would not be able to help out UT this year. I don't think anyone could.
One of my roommates played against Nance in high school and said the only reason he was able to get an offer was due to the fact he had Da'rick Rogers to air it out to. 6'4 with a big frame AND a guy at wide out like him might have made him look better than he was. Really good d3 qb and might have made a decent FCS qb. who knows.
