boys...don't get your panties bunched up - i was being sarcastic given our previous conversations regarding nash nance...hence the smiley face

i was also trying to point out to odacsuperfan that coaches don't call for plays to be thrown into double coverage - it is the qb's job to READ the coverage pre and post-snap, since the play is called by the coach without knowledge of the coverage - if the qb is throwing into double coverage, it isn't because of the play call, unless the coaching staff does not give him the flexibility to make reads...that isn't entirely unusual for young, inexperienced qb's, but not something i think the hsc coaching staff is doing with nance

i know you guys are sensitive about your precious nash nance, but don't take everything so seriously, especially when there is a smiley face thrown in

A. You say you think. Once again admitting you don't really know.  :)
B. You seemed to take Methodist being called a bad loss pretty seriously.  :)

To be honest I take offense to anyone trashing any player on this board. Trash the team - ok. Coaches - fair game. Throwing kids under the bus anonymously is cowardly.   :)

true...i THINK that the hsc coaching staff is not likely giving their starting qb (who happens to be a qb who was once on an sec roster, nonetheless) one read and telling him to throw the ball to one person regardless of the coverage - i could be wrong, though - if that's the case, it's amazing that hsc has had the kind of success they've had over the years - offensive football in the last 10 years has evolved to the point that even most passing games on the high school level give their qb's the freedom to read defenses - if hsc's doesn't, i'd be a bit shocked...but you are right...i don't really know

nope...you didn't read close enough - i disagreed with jknezek that a loss by an odac team to a team which has won more than 70% of it's games against a solid schedule was deemed "very unimpressive"...i think that type of result is to be expected when two solid teams from similar conferences (from a quality of play standpoint) play each other - the team in question was immaterial, and i said as much (but i did admit that i was a bit more passionate about the subject because it involved mu)

i think you're reading more than i've written...if odacsuperfan saw hsc throwing into double coverage, there is a pretty darn good chance it wasn't because the coaching staff called a play that was to be run into double coverage, but rather because the qb was throwing into double coverage, either because he missed a read or thought he could squeeze the ball in - EVERY qb i've ever seen play the game has occasionally thrown into double coverage (brett favre did it a lot over the course of his career) but i can't recall EVER hearing a coach say this was a good idea on a regular basis...this isn't "throwing kids under the bus anonymously" or "cowardly", it's pointing out the reality of football

I'm surprised.  Your responses leave me feeling you may be annoyed. Did you miss the smiley faces?

Reading all this makes me wish we could do a video, say Claymation Celebrity Deathmatch style.  :)  Get clay figures of narch and HSCTiger fan plus throw in some tag team action with Nash Nance and the whole Methodist football team and we'd have some great fun.  :)  Fun to read ... I also know both of you are typing with tongues firmly in cheeks.  Hope it's a great football weekend.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to start an argument on here about any kids. I just call it the way I see it. The HSC offense is totally ran by Coach Favret. His plays are called and there is no read progression. They don't even have a check down guy. Thats always been the case with Favret .He expects his QB to throw accurate passes and WR's to make catches. Many times there is noone open and its incomplete or intercepted. It wouldn't matter whose QB'ing on some plays. My assessment was that they should run more behind that really good line and throw more short and medium routes. Even if they had Aaron Rodgers back there in my opinion Favret calls too many deep passes for his personnel. I know Favret is a good coach but the 2 games I've seen this year he hasn't called a good game in my opinion. If Favret is on then HSC is hard to beat.

That's why they call it Marty Ball.  1st and 10 - GO FOR IT!!  2nd and 10 - GO FOR IT!! 4th and 10 - AHH HELL, GO FOR IT!!

There are more really good receivers on the team other than Holton Walker, but Goad's out, Mey's out and Gorsline hasn't been getting many looks.  Think about the past several years and how the Tigers always had that one dominant receiver with Singh, Rolander, Smith, Vance and Cavanaugh.

if that is accurate information, i have three observations:

1 - that's hard to believe...not saying i don't believe you, but it's difficult to comprehend a coach being so rigid that he gives his qb ZERO reads and no check-down - i understand limiting the reads (for instance, as a freshman starter, i understand that max reber had two play side reads...or run/throw it away if it isn't there)...but ZERO reads is amazing...and limiting

2 - if this information is accurate, i can understand why nash had a relatively low completion rate and high interception rate last year and why he's thrown a number of int's this year...if he can only go one place, and that receiver isn't open...well, it leads to incompletions and interceptions

3 - imagine what the hsc offense could do if the qb didn't have to throw to covered receivers or throw the ball away

Nice article in the Oct. 30th edition of the Greensboro News & Record about Guilford football and this week's game versus HSC:

Definitely deserves it, he had some big plays last week.

I've got to ask (I think I know the answer); how do you see the HSC vs. GC game playing out ?
