And yes we all are diehard fans, but we never talk at or too your players, mostly cheer for the Cats.

On my trip to McMinnville, there were guys on the far sideline who did not fit this description at all.

HSCTiger Fan,
Saw your comments on the NWC board about getting into it with some of the cat fans on your sideline.  For years and years, a lot of former players , dads of former players (like me) and Cat fans in general roam the far sideline and north end zone, we kind of go with the flow of where the game action is.  And yes we all are diehard fans, but we never talk at or too your players, mostly cheer for the Cats.  I think I know the conversation you are referring to as I was about 10 ft away at the time.  Now there were also a couple of your guys, I remember one of them had a smokeless cig.  he was working on.  Early on, near the north end 20 I yelled something out to our D and He made a smartass remark directed at me and walked away.  No biggie to me, I just laughed, everyone was fired up and your boys were on their game at the time.  If you would have found us and did pre game longies things might have been a bit more chill !!  We do back our boys, always !!!  and we always respect who we are playing--

Peace Out

I assure you that I know smartass comments. I'm the king of putting my foot in my mouth. I do it daily.  I had and have no problems with what you are saying. But I assure you there were people making exceptionally inappropriate comments to our kids. Especially the ones who were injured. I would think had you heard them you would have steeped in and asked for restraint. Neither here nor there. You have a right to be proud and cheer for your team.  Best of luck next weekend.

You betcha !!  And I have stepped in.   That's how I roll.  If that happened I wish I would have heard it.  I know all of the guys on the line.  What I saw and heard was two fans getting into it a bit.  It was one heck of a game,  I think there were several of the old dogs ready to pad up one more time and get after it !!!

As a Linfield fan, I would be appalled and ashamed if that sort of thing happened....I find it hard to believe.

having been all over the east coast to see games in the last 8 years or so I can safely say that there are people at almost every game who say inappropriate things to opposing players.  in the end there is no excuse for it and a shame when it happens.  cheer for your team and let the others do the same, insulting players working the butt off just to play football so that you feel some sort of toughness is a joke.

Just to clarify some misinformation you presented, the HSC defense did not give up 31 points; they gave up 24. The final TD was a fumble recovery in the end zone.

You are full of it if you think HSC didn't give Linfield all they wanted. Many Linfield fans told me HSC was by far the best team they had faced all year. If you get off by coming onto this board in an attempt to slight a team you know nothing about, you need to get a life.

Good luck to Linfield this week.

Perhaps this isn't necessary. Congrats on a great season.

Perhaps negative uneducated comments from 509Rat were not necessary either.

Look, I didn't agree with 509Rat and took it up with him first. That being said, he never went personal. I think Pat is just leaving a little note reminding us that standing up for your boys is great and necessary, but it shouldn't go personal.

Message boards are filled with negative and uneducated, where they tend to go downhill is when people take the focus off the topic and go after each other.

It was a great season for HSC, and they played a great game at Linfield, regardless of what one poster thinks. Just about every other comment from the NWC guys, and the actual Linfield fans, was positive about HSC's effort. A few comments about a personal foul aside, I think HSC got the respect it deserved for the game and the season.

Don't let one guy needle you down to a lower level, regardless of what he says.

Good luck to Linfield this week.

For Linfield to be ranked 2nd/3rd in the nation playing an unranked HSC team, HSC did, in fact, give Linfield all they wanted and then some. Did Linfield crappy the bed in the first half? Maybe. Did HSC play a hell of a first half? For sure. Did the tide turn in the second half? Unquestionably it did. Does that mean that the final score of the game was a fluke? No.

Fans might look at the names of the schools that play and write off one team before the game is even played, and it's not fair to either team. I can guarantee many Linfield fans saw that HSC was 8-2 regular season and beat a historically not very good Maryville team in the first round after MC won a conference that is competitive within the league, but not within the region. It can work the other way around as well, meaning HSC could've seen the match up and it being in Oregon and write off their team. The Tigers showed everyone the blessing of a playoff in college football.

Either way you look at it or try to spin it, in my eyes, the game was a classic and will be talked about for several years to come. Big Bad Linfield almost got showed up in the second round by HSC. End of story. You can say Linfield won the game by 10, or you can say HSC lost the game by 10.  Either way, HSC played its tail off and represented the lower South Region seeds very, very well.

HSC, congrats on a great season, and here's to a great off season.

Point well taken. I was just expressing my opinion, not trying to get too personal. Sorry it came across that way, however, I still feel the post was uneducated, uncalled for and was meant to be insulting. I'll always take up for those that I feel are being attacked without cause.

Thanks -- that's exactly the point. When you cross the line into "you are full of it" and "you need to get a life," there is no doubt that's personal.

As I stated I will always defend those that are being attacked without cause, with misinformation and with intent to degrade.
If I crossed the line and got too personal, I apologize.

That wouldn't really fit the description of the vast majority of college athletic events. Always at least a few folks yapping at the opponents...
