1hs,

Could you give us a little more detail?

Hug

Would someone like to comment on the fact that HSC 2005 recruitment list includes 1 running back and 5 kickers?

Great scrimage yesterday at CHU.
Running backs look ready.
Receivers as usual are running the routes.
Keep it going HSC

Did you all scrimmage CNU or CHU?  I don't know who CHU is.  And where are the details, scores, runs, passes, good hits?  Fess up....

Getting ready to head out to the BC scrimmage. The bunch of panzies from Hargrave aren't going to know what hit them!!

Is this a Friday night scrimmage not on the schedule yet?

Also, I was on the Hampden-Sydney football website, and ran across this interesting 4:30 minute video feature on Shorty.  I think some of you may find this interesting.

Anyone else go to the scrimage today over at Jopson?  Im glad #5 isnt someone that we have to play in the regular season.  Damn good reciever.  I think the Eagles offense looked good but i wasnt too sure about the defense.  One thing for sure though is that they will be ready to go come next saturday against McDaniel here at Jopson.

Bridgewater 24
McDaniel  17

My thoughts on the Hargrave scrimmage:

1. We will be fine with either qb.  Both seem to be good players.
2. Overall I thought the O-line did a pretty good job against a big, fast, athletic Hargrave front.  We seem to have a lot of depth on the O-line as well.
3. Are our db's coached not to look for the ball on the fade pattern?  Every year I think we'll correct this but we never do.  I know that WR is good, but again can we at least turn around and look for the ball?
4. Blitzing LB's got good pressure on the Hargrave qb including a few sacks.  Hopefully we're turning up the aggressivness on 'D' this year.  I hated the way we played agains W&J last year (sat back in a zone, didn't blitz, let the qb pick us apart).  I liked the way we played today much better!!!
5. Overall Hargrave was more physical than us today.  This does not bode well.  Campo is very fast but he won't be the "next Jermaine" until he stops catching blocks and starts bubbling the fullback on the pitch.
6. Our punter needs to get the ball off a whole lot quicker.  McDaniel always has good special teams.  They will block a punt if we do what we did today.
7. Why didn't Winston and Warring play today (I'm assuming that was Spence playing fullback wearing Winston's #32)?  Will they be back for Saturday?

HSC looked great over CNU  J.D. was 16 for 22 3tds passing for 320 yds.
Great numbers for a little over 2 qtr.

Trenches

GCQ scrimmaged Newport News Apprentice today. Not setup in a traditional game format, however there was about 30 or so minutes of live play... final score:
GC 20 - NNA 7

The one NNA TD was following a foul up on a special teams play. NNA recoverd the ball on a punt after a GC player unknowingly touched it. Other then that GC looked alot better then in recent years.

Could be interesting to see what they could pull off this year. Especially considering I have seen nothing but 1-5,0-6 picks for them. I wouldn't bank on an easy game with them this year. Looks like a completely different team out there.

Unfortunately for Guilford (and Randolph-Macon and Catholic), it's going to be hard to really take a big step forward in the ODAC this season, since all three have reason to believe they'll be much better than last year.

The only team in the league that doesn't reasonably have that kind of expectation is W&L.

Scrimmage Thoughts:
1. Veterans looked and did what they were supposed to.
2. Underclassmen showed the BC spirit of old. (Actually held there own and may even have won the quarters they played)
3. Coach Clark has once again done a great job recruiting, its just quality vs. quantity this year.

McDaniel Game:
If we stop the run (Maybank, Parker, Mellinger) next Saturday, we should win going away. If not, look for another shootout type game, ala the whole 2001 season.

Bottomline:
Only 165 hrs til Stone Station opens for bizniz for the '05 season!

Winston Young didnt play today because he has a torn meniscus and is out about a month.  Not sure about Warring.  I agree completely about the DB's.  I have seen it every year since i have been at Bridgewater and have always wondered what was being taught.  Hopefully it isnt how they plan to do it, but it just happens.  Its hard to pick a ball off with your back, plus i have seen too many pass interfernce calls on us lately.  Bottom line is we need a lock down corner and i havent seen one in a few years.
