bridgewater die hards can say or believe what they want, but i will guarantee that lewis will not receive one vote for the 1st team all odac.  The coaches in the conference (who watch hours of film on these kids, and are fully aware of their talent) will end this argument with an 8-0 vote.  In fact, Lewis doesnt have a chance to be 2nd team.  In 03 JD was 1st team, in 04 he was 2nd (after playing only 5 games)  that shows how much respect the rest of the coaches in the league had for the BW qb last year.  These are the coaches!  Obviously BW is the premier team in the conf. and has been for years, but since Lutz left that has been a position that has hurt them in my opinion.  I think a majority of the coaches in the conf. would agree...

Frank, I think the "diehard" Bridgewater Fans could care less who gets 1st Team ODAC at the QB position.  We'll be too busy worrying about our playoff opponent.  JD can win all the post season awards and they are deserving.  He's a great QB.  But he'll still be listening to the playoffs just like you will which is an online stream here on D3Football.com.

Outsider14

hurt us all the way to the playoffs (including 1 final 16 and 1 final 4) every year.

take it this way: ricca is a very good QB, there's no argument there. but you're losing points w/ trying to prove that BC's QBs have been trash year in and year out. you can't go to the playoffs every year w/o a very good QB; that's a fact. ask any coach.

and i lost all respect for all-odac voting when players get voted 1st team odac that we watched on film and saw them as weaknesses in meetings, then went ahead and exploited them on game day. you can argue against that til you're blue in the face, but we don't win saturday after saturday by luck. that's truth.

Frankie,

Are you a Ricca groupie? trying to be his agent? Relative? Extension of his..............?

Individual records and accolades are for losers Championships are for Winners. The only record that counts is the team record.

Seems like franknizy is still trying to salvage HSCs season..  ::) maybe they'll make the playoffs this year, I doubt it baring any BC meltdowns. I hope they do make the playoffs as an ODAC football fan but at this point Ricca is essentially a lame dog playing out the rest of this SR season.  I wish the guy luck and I hope his groupies enjoy the rest of the season and insane passing numbers.  However,  Ricca will never be a champion in college which is why you play the game, to be part of a team that is the best while Lewis still has that chance, Wakefield earned several rings as did Jenkins and Lutz came 3 points shy of being a National Champion.. I'd still take any of those BC QBs over Ricca.. they're winners when it counts.  (READ nobody remembers numbers except those that put them up.. Champions are always remembered)

franknizy

i agree that wins are more important than records, and anybody that has anything to do with the game would agree.  My point as a CU fan is this : when Ricca drops back to pass against us i hold my breath. I get a similar feeling when washington breaks into the open field.  those are the only 2 players in the league that give that feeling.  when lewis drops back to pass it is a relief

wrighthall220

It wasn't much of a sigh of relief when Lewis dropped back to pass and hit Awkward for the 6 points that ultimately beat HSC...  :P ::)  Name the last time Ricca didn't choke in a big game..

franknizy

ricca must be good enough for some of you guys to hate his game as much as you do.  lewis threw a great pass to awkard on that play.  ricca lost the game, but choke? how?

franknizy

awkard caught a 3 yd pass and made a play.

It's been clear to me for years now that All-ODAC voting is about as irrelevant as some of the banter that makes this postboard.  Coaches are there to coach and to win -- I doubt that deciding who are the best players in the conference is high on their list of priorities.

In ODAC basketball, which I follow primarily, it's been clear that coaches are much more apt to vote in consistent trends then to really consider all the angles that we passionate (and always-biased) posters do.  Regionalism and preference for seniors are certainly a factor.  Many were surprised last year when Justin Wansley got POY over Easterling, because seniors had been a lock for POY for years upon years.  As far as regionalism goes, the example I'll use (this is one people have ranted to me about, but not that I necessarily believe it) is Katy Herr winning FOY a couple of years ago...Katy is from Staunton (Wansley is from Richmond, also), right in the heart of ODAC country.  I'd be willing to bet that in almost every case, the tie goes to the Virginian.

I hope BC fans don't think I'm picking on them...both examples just happened to involve Eagles players.

In summary, all-ODAC voting is hardly irrefutable evidence when it comes to comparing players.

Rugby Guy

Ok, so you guarantee Lewis won't get one vote.  I guarantee he'll be too busy being fitted for the ODAC championship ring to give a crap.  Say all you want...I'd still prefer the ring.

franknizy

no doubt i too would prefer the ring, but that does not mean lewis is on riccas level as a player

Rugby Guy

The QB's job is to lead his team to wins.  I've never said that Ricca isn't talented.  The only BC quarterback I definitely would put him behind is Lutz.

We do know that Lewis is 1-0 as a starter vs Ricca.

The thing is when you play football individualism really does not count. It is who contributes to their team to make them a winner. How many times has an MVP played on a losing team or a team that does not compete in the playoffs? The reason it doesn't happen much is because football is a team sport. We know that Ricca is a good QB, but he just doesn't have the "it" to make his team a winner. Lewis obviously learned from the McDaniel game and grew as a qb on how to win games to be able to lead his team to the game winning drive to beat HSC. Ricca has had 2-3 chances to do that and has not.

Well, Lauren didn't know I was going there either ... I told her after the fact.  A good week after the fact.  ;)

But she was cool about it.  She knows I think she could easily be a "hooters waitress" ... but heck if I'd ever let her be one!

He told her "IT WAS ALL LLAMA'S FAUGHT!" What can I say, ain't the first time I been blamed for corrupting a KID. :o
