W&L opens tonight at home with Averett. Here's hoping it goes better than last year. I do believe this team will be better and these first three games are all home and all winnable. If the Generals get off to a good start it could set the tone. I have no doubt that early close losses in all 3 OOC games last year set the tone especially as injuries mounted.

I usually pull for USAC teams OOC, but I hate Averett with a passion. Here's to your Generals, JK.

Geez. I didn't know anyone hated Averett. It's actually one of those schools, despite the proximity, I'd never heard of until the first time W&L played them. Other than the crap facilities and non-existent admissions criteria (88% acceptance? What did the other 12% do, spell their names wrong?), what's the problem?

just rubbed me and several guys on the team the wrong way. AU is the only team I want MC to beat 50-0 every year. For the other teams in the schedule, as long as we win I'm cool. Arrogant doesn't begin to describe the AU teams when I played. Plus, it doesn't help I grew up 2.5 hours from Danville.

Yeah. W&L picking up the pace. The 80 yard td pitch by the Cougars was nice though. QB kept it alive until W&L blew the coverage. Still, when W&L crosses 200 yards rushing a few seconds into the second quarter you are going to give up points.

I can't wait to see MC gash Averett for 500 yards on the ground. A couple years ago we out rushed them by 400. And we're not an option offense...

Broadcast is missing a color commentator. Kid is working hard but it shows. Camera work isn't always in the right place either, but at least it's a steady feed. I think the Averett coach picked the wrong QB out of camp as the quick hook given and the second kid looks much more in command.

Don't worry. I don't see a comeback from Averett. Defense is playing too poorly. The Generals will have issues giving up big plays this year in the ODAC from the looks of things, not to take away anything from the guys right now. They're playing their a$$es off.

Pass defense is hard to practice for an option team. But I think the real problem is a severely undersized d-line. We'll see how it goes, but with the W&L OOC schedule they should get a good running start at it.

Averett can't help themselves tonight. Cut the lead to 14, then let the qb reel off a 57 yard TD. Poor tackling. Hard to watch the defenses in this game, tbh.

W&L racks up over 700 yards of offense. A few bad give aways and some scores by Averett with 2's against 3's make it look closer than it was. W&L in control start to finish in a much better performance than I saw since the very end of last year. Hopefully a good omen for the Generals this year, but really even if they win their whole OOC schedule it will give almost no indication of how they will do in the ODAC this year.

Good luck to the ODAC teams tomorrow. Bridgewater once again appears to be a paper tiger.

Congratulations to the Generals!  Not sure how long it's been since they put up 63, but Averett's probably not their strongest test.  Anyway, always good to start the season on a positive note.

Looks as though BC will take an OOC loss tonight to the Gettysburg Bullets ... I'm sure the Eagles had high hopes for tonight.

Looking forward to tomorrow ... many games on tap and always good to see the Soup Bowl.  Hope the rest of the ODAC pulls through tomorrow!

Ferrum has E&H and Greensboro has Guilford. 2 of bottom 3 USAC has 2 of top 3 ODAC. Yikes.
