I like your confidence. We should see a really good game on Saturday. Hope the rain stays away but as we speak the forecast calls for rain beginning Friday nite into Saturday, high temp. is only suppose to reach 59.
If we can hold W&L to fewer than 400 yards rushing, we win 42 to 35. If they go over 450 yards rushing, we lose 42 to 35.
Either way, we'll see a good game. Lets hope the wind is not too much of a factor.

400 yards rushing?!?  My god, man.  Have some self respect.  If the Tigers let somebody run for 400 yards, options and wings and whatever else, they should pack it up and try again in 2016.

W&L has rushed for 400 yards in 3 of their 4 games this year, missing against Guilford by only 20 yards or so. They've done it 23 times in the last 54 games. They are 21-2 in those games. It's what they do. The Generals currently lead the country at 477+ yards rushing per game this season. I'm not saying they will rush for 400+ yards against Hampden-Sydney, but it's what they are aiming to do.

The big difference this year with W&L is they are averaging 90+ yards passing as well. Just enough to force the defense to respect it.

I don't have a clue as to what score might be or how many rushing yards the Tigers will allow.  WL played 3 lousy teams and wore them out. Then they play GC and beat them with Pawloski out of the game. Granted the GC QB doesn't play defense. But with him on the field I have a feeling he leads GC to more first downs and TDs. Meaning WL has fewer opportunities on offense.

On the other hand HSC got stomped by Wabash, beat a 1/3 CNU who might be good, destroyed a horrible Ferrum team and won against CUA a team voted by the ODAC coaches to be the worst team in the conference.

A few things I've noticed.

1. HSC's defense has been solid in every game. Even against Wabash the defense made the LGs earn their yards and caused turnovers. The defense held CNU to 3 points until they scored in the last seconds against reserves. CNU went to Wesley the next week and score 17 in the first 16 minutes. I like our defense.

2. WL's offense has played very well against some very bad teams. But they also played very well against GC - a team universally accepted as the league's best.  Maybe GC believed all their press clippings, I don't know.  Bottom line is WL beat them and their offense has been great.

3. HSC's offense has been somewhat inconsistent. It doesn't seem to have the striking ability of the past teams. Including those offenses before Nance and Walker.  But we have seen playmakers.  Johnson has 2 TDs over 50 yards, Moore threw for 5 TDs at Ferrum and of course Koonce.  If Koonce stays healthy he will own every rushing record currently held at HSC and probably own most of the ODAC records too. He's a big difference maker.

4. WL's defense lies in inconsistent category as well. The Generals gave up 450 yards passing to Averett.  Two weeks later against Apprentice they give up 310 yards rushing and 21 first half points. But against Swanee a team better than both Averett and Apprentice they only allow a total of 323 yards. Against GC they were great again.

So this weekend we have a game where WL's offense has been consistent and their defense has been somewhat inconsistent playing HSC whose team's defense has been consistent and their offense has been somewhat inconsistent.

This game feels a lot like the lead up last year's EH game.  Everyone was talking about the Wasps' offense and HSC crushed them. I'm hoping for a similar outcome. Much like EH last year WL players are playing their first big ODAC game on the road. This group of Generals were on the 2012 team but most of them most certainly watched their teammates from the sidelines. WL has not been 5-0 since 1960. WL has not won at HSC since 2005. HSC seldom loses at home to ODAC teams. All that can change after this weekend. But Ive been saying it all year. I like this HSC team. I think they are hungry to play at home again. I think they have experienced more big games. I don't think they will disappoint.

It's only a forecast for light rain, so it shouldn't be that bad. Last I checked the % chance of rain was never over 50% so thankfully there is a better chance that it doesn't rain that it does rain!

I have not heard from Hasa. Hope he resurfaces soon and all is well.

Guilford beats Shenandoah at home by 17  34-17
Catholic takes RMC at home by 3                 17-14
E&H beat Bridgewater by 10 at home           34-24
H-SC beats W&L by 7 at home.                    38-31

It's going to be a home sweep this weekend.

FWIW, I don't think W&L is getting anything close to 400 yards rushing against H-SC (apologies, jk).  I know that's sort of their thing, but that doesn't happen against good teams, which I think H-SC is.

I doubt it too. W&L has a history of falling behind at H-SC and then needing to get away from their game plan to catch up. It doesn't work. We will see if this year is different but I think if W&L gets 400+ yards of offense it'll be a close game. As you can see from my projections, I expect some points in this game.

I hope you are right. I know hsc is a pretty good team but i also know what W&l is all about.

Jk

CUA over RMC, really ? I find it hard to believe that rmc is that bad, but you are in tune more so than I. I'm on the record saying I hope you are correct about that prediction.

Heres to a well plyed game at hsc this weekend !!!

jknezek

Is RMC that bad? I don't know. But they have nothing impressive on their resume so far. Neither does Catholic really, but Catholic is at home. They are looking like the bottom two teams so far.

My observations of HSC. They are better off this year than last. Unfortunately when you have a good player such as Nance you tend to make some calls you might not otherwise. I'm thinking the coaches will have to coach conservatively in comparison to last year. Seems like they found a RB and that helps an inexperienced QB. Chances are you will have a better TEAM this year. Hope we have good weather when BC makes that trip. It's been nasty usually

There's nothing they've done this year that they didn't do last year at the same time in the season but take a worse beating from Wabash. If the "team" is better it's not from losing 4 future HSC HOF players.  If this team is better than last it's because of the offensive and defensive lines.
