HSC had three huge plays on Saturday that did not go their way- the interception on the initial drive returned to the 8, allowing WL to complete the 40 yard pass on their last drive when for the first time all game EVERYONE new they were throwing it, and finally the stop on 4th and goal. If any one of those three plays go HSC's way they might win the game. But they didn't.

It's funny 'cause that goes both ways. The long TD that W&L had called back because of a downfield block in the back, essentially the W&L player got tripped and fell into the H-SC guy in front of him, not even knocking him over, was the play I thought would kill the Generals. Especially when they ended up punting after the snap/fumble nightmare that knocked them back 25 yards. Also the pass interference call that earned H-SC a first down on 3rd and long in their last TD drive.

But yeah, W&L was out gained by over 100 yards. Points off turnovers WAS a big part of it (14-7), and not getting off the field on long 3rd downs hurt both teams. Such is football. Evenly matched teams play tough games. I thoroughly enjoyed that one and will add it to the list of epic games these two teams have played recently. 2015, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2007, 2005 have all been 1 score battles. 6 of the last 11 with no quarter given by either team...

You're right JK. I picked those particular plays because they were plays that were not decided by officials. They were decided by the players on the field.  Another play that I should have mentioned that did go HSC's way was the amazing catch by Perryman on 4th down that went for a TD. Another example of tremendous effort by both teams and players.

Simply a great game with a lot of drama and excitement. As it turned out the last team with the ball won the game.

By the way points off TO's was 14 to 0. HSC missed a 30 yard FG after WL's fumble.

I can't make it to E&H due to a family wedding. Pull the Tigers across the finish line and I'll catch you and your gang at Homecoming. It's never too late. Lets win out and see where that takes us.

I'll be there. Certainly not giving up on the Tigers. I'll try calling you tomorrow.

I hear you. And yes, that TD catch was ridiculous. There are two ridiculous H-SC catches on the W&L highlight reel. The only two H-SC highlights they included, but those were worth watching a few times. Especially the TD catch. Unbelievable concentration. I forgot about the missed FG. You are correct.

I'm a big H-SC fan this weekend. Rebound boys! Rebound!

Quiet board this year. Still hoping Hasa is ok. I feel like we keep losing posters. No one regularly from Bridgewater. No one from E&H in a few years. The last of the RMC crowd disappeared last year. I'm it for W&L. Shenandoah's poster isn't regular or about the football team too much.

I guess all the new blood stays on Twitter or somewhere else. This isn't my only "hobby" message board that I feel is trailing off badly. Sad to see it happen.

I guess that is what happens when 2 schools have won every odac championship since the 2009 season.
We have three or four posters from HSC, one from W&L, had one from GC and I hope he is ok and will come back, 0 from RMC,CUA,SU,E&H and one from BC. I think that is it.

Maybe. It's funny though. I know that only 2 teams have won the ODAC in the last 5-6 years, but it doesn't seem like it's been dominant. That whole span has seen only two perfect conference records, 2009 and 2010, and a steady string of odd results. It feels like the ODAC is more balanced than the results have shown.

E&H and Bridgewater didn't get the crown last year, but they had the same record as Guilford and H-SC. Where are the posters giving H-SC @#$%#@$# about backing into the title? Shenandoah beat H-SC in 2013, Guilford last year. Both were big upsets. Where are the posters bragging about being in the right direction? Bridgewater beat the conference champ 2 of the last 3 years (W&L 2012, H-SC 2014). Where are some of those obnoxious guys? R-MC wiped out H-SC in The Game 3 of the last 4 years. If that game is really important, where are they?

Guilford has gone from zero to a favorite. Why so little attention? Same with E&H. Really only Catholic has been consistently bad. The other fan bases each have had something to be on here about, so why are the few of us all that's left? Sad.

I think that your previous comment about Twitter and other social media is on point for many of the current students or very recent grads. Participating in a forum like this one probably seems silly and antiquated to them.
With a few exceptions the fans and grads in their 30s or early 40s are likely to be deeply involved in careers and families and can't spare time to keep up the way they once did. I couldn't even guess how many times I've seen someone ask where a particular poster has been and get a response along the lines of "he just started a new job/had a baby/got married/moved to a new town". I know that this isn't true for all the boards, but I've seen a lot of former regulars disappear in my ten years here.

I think the same holds true for other boards as well w/ the obvious few exceptions.

I'm just thankful that the ODAC board is not a bunch of back slappers from one team, telling each other how wonderful their team is.  I do wish there was more than the occasional poster from other ODAC schools.

It's gotten pretty close...  ;D

There's still an EH guy hanging around, just hardly get a chance to post.  I enjoy reading all of your posts and still participate in the Pick Em's.

Hey All,

I don't have much time to check the boards, but it's great to see y'all engaging in civilized ODAC conversation. I hope you're checking Around the Mid-Atlantic each week. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any story ideas. Looks like we're in for another year of unpredictable #ODACtion.
