Cheeks,
As far as Guilford is concerned, their pass offense is legit.  They can move tha ball through the air fairly well.  They don't run the ball very well, and their defense is a little problematic.  Since you want to talk about beating Guilford, go do it or at least enlighten us on how you think W&L should go about beating Guilford.  Will you take advantage of a lackluster seconday?  What will W&L do to firm up their current place as most likely to beat BC in the ODAC this year?

Beat Guilford is the rally chant, back in the day, in certain games we would say "Beat Macon" or whichever team it was every time you would take a drink of water or see a teammate on campus.

To beat Guilford, the same plan applies.... leverage Offensive Coordinator Bert O'Neals offensive scheme to put some points on the board through an efficient passing offense.  Defensively, same plan that went on versus the strong Catholic and Sydney passing games, don't give up the big play and put yourself in a position to win the game in the 4th quarter.  Also, win the special teams game..... It be known, Colton Ward is a stallion and, along with Jack Martin, are about as talented of a 1-2 combo anywhere else in league...

I'm sure that Kid, like most people who follow college football, assigns more significance to recent games than those played before any of the kids currently at the institutions got there.

Thanks Ron.

That is the task at hand. You will see no BC comments from new_era or the alter-ego Ronnie Cheeks until business is taken care of on Saturday.

Haha ... well done Outsider!

Here is my favorite statistic:

WL 5-1
BC 5-1

Just win baby... I am sure Sydney's offensive efficiency stats are better than the Generals as well, but, in the end, its about Ws, not gaudy statistics.

Statistically speaking, I would have loved to have played a R-MC or Sewanee team earlier this season instead of a McDaniel or Hanover.  The Jackets and Tigers are averaging 2 TDs a game ... you all held them to one ... congrats.

Cheeks,
In other words the plan is play diciplined W&L football, corect?  Guilford started putting up the points at BC when BC started getting sloppy.  I just thought with the cry of beat Guilford coming from you we could move beyond the cry and talk about how that might happen. ;D

Bmore BC

I feel as if I missed something...........386 yards, 3 tds and this is recieving. If this site wasn't credible I would not believe that actually happened. Was there a defensive secodary??? Is there a thing as double or triple coverage???

Went to the BC game. The defense has got to have a killer instinct. I did not recall GC completing a pass in the 1st quarter even though I am sure they did. But it seems as if the defense gets complacent during the game and does not go for the kill. I am not sure if the play-calling is scaled down or players are no longer interested, but if the BC defense does not get the killer instinct it will be a short post season. I do know that past d-coordinators (Rob & Cervino) created that killer instinct by being fiery and challenging players in practice. Rattlesnke said it earlier the team seemed content on giving up that many points. Granted 2td were from turnovers but Gc scored more tehn 14 pts.

W&L vs BC seems like a game. Hope W&L posters do not give everyone the silent treatment the week before the game like the HSC posters.

HSC goes down wow! What was Ricca's numbers? All this discussion about him being great last week, havent read any HSC analysis on the game.

Washington for Heisman!!!!

Winning 3 conference championships - or whatever...good for you.

Cmon man.

I was looking at the stats page.

Our conference is ridiculous.

This is funny.....

3rd leading rusher in the conference averages 44 yds a game.

William Wallace did not divulge his war secrets to the English before battling, he instead stuck to the war cry and got it done!!!

Obviously there must be a minimum number of carries or games because Winston Young has played in 3 games and is averaging 83 yrds / game.

This points directly to why none of these "run & shoot" teams can protect a lead in the ODAC. If you don't have a run game to control the clock in the 4th quarter, its going to be a shoot-out.

Trenches

Glad to see you BC fans are finally giving GC a little respect after seeing their passing game. ;)  I told you they were legit and that Barnette is the real deal. Vogelbach has 1100+ yards and 15 tds in the last 3 games. Took a couple games into the season, but they are clicking on O. Imagine what they could do if they could keep someone out of the end zone.

Another big game with W&L this week. Sounds like another air it out shoot out. I got the upset... GC- 35 W&L- 34

Jeremybozz

That should be interesting and it should be a good game with how these teams played last week.

Congrats on picking up a vote in the poll.Meanwhile, what does Ferrum have to do to get near the top 25? I guess they need to beat CNU.

I noticed that late last night too (Washington & Lee being ranked #25 on someone's ballot) ... as they should, seeing they did basically what BC did (beating a once ranked team at their place by roughly the same amount).

And yes, Ferrum will have to go undefeated to crack the top 25.  It's not all that uncommon ... and history shows that teams that do in fact go 9-0 or 10-0 and crack the top 25 late in the season eventually get ousted in the first round of the playoffs.

"1999 - WL win in 2OT
2000 - Water wins and knocks out 2 players for the rest of their careers on cheap shots
2001 - WL takes BC to OT in BCs best year"

New_Era, Nice selective view point on how those games were won and lost... I guess it still figures into W&L having 1 win in the past 5 years..
