Just because he's been the most consistently successful coach in the ODAC in the D3football.com era, though Coach Clark reached the highest level, here's Coach Favret's record against ODAC opponents at H-SC:

Guilford: 15-1   Streak: lost 1      longest streak, 15 wins
E&H:      14-2   Streak: won 14    longest streak,  14 wins
Catholic: 13-3   Streak: won 3     longest streak, 7 wins
R-MC:     10-6   Streak: lost 2     longest streak, 7 wins
W&L:      10-6   Streak: lost 1      longest streak, 3 wins (twice)
Bwater:  8-7      Streak: won 1    longest streak, 7 losses, 7 wins
'Doah:    3-1     Streak: won 2     longest streak, 2 wins

So there you go. Coach Favret has a winning record against EVERY ODAC team. Only Bridgewater is close, and they have lost 8 of their last 9 against H-SC.

Thanks for the research.  I have to believe, however, that there is one more game vs BC in his 16 year career ... instead of 8-7, wouldn't it be 8-8 or 9-7?  (I just looked it up ... he's 8-8 vs BC).

Good catch. Not sure why I didn't double check that. Oh well.

I'm assuming ODAC media day is Friday? It's usually the Friday just before or after the 10th of August in my recollection. Other than the pre-season poll I've never really taken much from it. But it is another sign the season approaches!

No media day this year as far as I'm aware. To cut costs the ODAC hosted all the preseason coaches meeting for the fall sports at Lynchburg College on August 8. ODAC preseason polls for all sports are set to be released starting next week.

Interesting. Probably won't be missed. Thanks for the info.

I'll miss it. I enjoy hearing from the coaches. It costs nothing to email a list of questions, video the responses and send them back to post. Get outside the box ODAC administration!

Guilford webpage reports 157 student athletes checked in for football ... that's about a 100 more than many of the years I've followed Quaker football!  Hope it's a good season!

Good for Guilford College. Bad for those kids hoping to play D3 football. I can't say I really like this habit some schools develop.

I don't disagree.  It does create revenue and fill beds, but if you are 157th on the depth chart, when will you play?  Including special teams and three deep on position charts on both sides of the ball, you're only looking at 80 that will see any meaningful time.  I only saw 20 players that Coach Rusiewicz announced as recruits, so the rest must be returning lettermen and students who hope for a spot in the tradition of St. John's in Minnesota.

Yep. I just posted in the OAC board about UMU's comparable number of incoming first years. There are benefits to the school, and there can be benefits to the students. I'm just not sure it's much of a benefit to most of the athletes. You don't see the soccer team bringing in 40-50 players that will never see the field. It's just silly.

The ODAC not promoting preseason football is bad. They get play of the week video after game. They promote a player of the week. Why not give a little preview?  Call it whatever you want.

The point is asking coaches to submit interviews online isn't a media day, that's an email. JJ Nekoloff from the ODAC has already planned to do interviews with every coach even without the media day.

Media day is an all encompassing day that normally involves lunch with some organization (like basketball does with the Salem Rotary Club) as well as bringing in other media such as newspapers and TV stations in addition to what the ODAC normally does. The TV stations and newspapers that cover ODAC football are likely to do previews for the team(s) they cover without having to go out of market to a media day.
