Also why is this league so pass happy this year... it suck for interior players to produce stats because every two to three steps the ball is out of the QB's hand. I can remember the old run the ball down your throat and stop it if you can offense.

By the end of the year, every starting safety in this conference will lead their teams in tackles if not already because it is only one team that runs the ball consistently....

Games are starting to be so long these days!!!!!!

teams need to recruit some Chris Millers - E&H, C.W. Clemmons, Marcus Wahington's.

:'(

I dont think its a coincidence that the only team that has been able to run the ball is the team that will be going to the playoffs. I do agree 4 hour games are long and there aren't even commercials.

from the article xbcdad posted the link to about marcus:
"The most remarkable statistic from Marcus Washington's performance against Guilford isn't the five touchdowns he accounted for, the 266 all-purpose yards, the 75-yard kickoff return or the 58-yard TD on a simple screen pass. It's a number that doesn't appear on most score sheets.

It's 23, the number of plays Washington played on Saturday.

That means Bridgewater College's senior tailback ran, caught or threw a touchdown on more than 20 percent of the snaps he played. It defies the imagination. Just think, a touchdown is football's equivalent of a home run, yet no one in baseball even comes close to hitting a homer every five at-bats."

NOW tell me that there's somebody scarier to go up against than #24

Well said Outsider.  Washington is such a great kid too ... has the likable quality that Jermaine Taylor had while at Bridgewater.  It's stuff like this;

"I want to add a special thanks to Stephen Morin and Brian Awkard for getting tackled on the 1-yard line so I could get two [more] touchdowns," he said with a laugh.

I've been "tracking" Washington since the third game.  Looking at it from strictly a statistical view point (which I know is only a part of the AA consideration process), he looks good compared to the four running backs who were named preseason AA.

Washington has at least twice as many touchdowns as all four, he averages more yards per touch than all four (and doesn't include his KOR yardage), and averages 15.8 touches a game (with the four preseason AAs combining for 20.1 touches a games).

all this POY and AA talk is still a little premature, as there are 4 games left in the regular season...
interesting to note though: the 2001 bridgewater team had 6 sacks allowed through 9 regular season games... the 2005 team has allowed 4 through 5 games (6 through 6 if you include george mason). that's not just the starters; that's a total. keep in mind this is a drop back/play-action passing team, not that 3 step west coast crap.

And BC has done that with a handful of OLs being injured throughout the season.  Good thing we had around 25 to begin summer camp.

marriage- the dirtiest word in the english language

I usually think of it as ma*&)$iage ;D

It sounds like Washington deserves to be AA and I hope he gets that kind of recognition.

abnrgr,  what was the injury to # 71 against BC, looked like a back injury.  He came off and took pads off for the day.  Big kid !

I refer to weddings as funerals.

Just because it enfuriates every woman in my family.

I'm sure that during BC's run girlfriend(future fiances) have been kept away from the program. Without such policing it is impossible to keep such a program going strong.

Why you ask?

girlfriends make brownies

brownies make men happy and fat

happy, fat men are not good football players

"not good" football players do not go to the playoffs 5 straight years

Beware

BFB ...I'm with you! My kids momma even became a Ftbl fan once her young were on the field. She still goes to games from time to time. might even get her to go to W&L.

'player - fortunately Kid doesn't get on the field :D

voted for CUA on the pole just because of the yardage they have piled up against every team for a few straigth weeks now. Most mistakes probably loses in this matchup.

This is a matchup of sort of a split team. My feeling is that CUA should really be HSC players + CUA players but some weird interference by the football gods interupted the continuum.

Now CUA has come to steal its team back. HSC must pay for the sins of all the washingtonians who fled to HSC in the "years which did not actually happen". This includes the middle Ricca and 1.

Hopefully Marty never gets another player out of DC.

Thanks

Some of the WL- GC watchers seem to intimate there is some life in Greensboro. I know for a fact that they got coaches (adults this time) and a real QB.  from about 2000 until this year they had patched together QB's from (mostly) 1A high schools who did alright in the 1st round of the state playoffs. But the 1A state playoffs is a little different from college.  They were pummeled. It was sad. Hell GC had McKinney, a real All American wide out. he used to take a beating over the middle. Great leader too.

Voglebach is a real QB with some credentials. Barnett (WR) was 6'5' 2 years ago and might be over that. That is a traget to be sure. How they protect Vogelbach is beyond me. One intangible that even I  have not given this year they seem to not give up when they go down. That was a given a year ago. Could be the staff.

GC will give up some points again this week. We will find out what their (Bow Ties) D has for sure. I cannot believe I am saying this but GC seems to have some flippen pride in themselves as men finally.

abnrgr-
You asked how they protect him... Up front they have three returners (RG, RT, & LT), a big Freshman, and a strong senior center (moved from DL and never played the position before this but looks like he should have).  They are pretty solid at pass blocking... only let up 8 sacks in 6 games and atleast 2 have been on the qb. This is big considering the past... in past years they would have let up 20+ sacks by now, went through 2 qbs, and had no where near the success.

Like you said, they don't give up. They just need to come out firing in the beginning so they don't have to keep fighting from behind, trying to mount comebacks. Should be a good one this weekend. Both teams matchup well (alot better then the records show). Could be a who wants it more battle.

It was a back injury. Is a big kid.. round 6'7. Played o-line till past game but didn't see much time so they tried him out on D. Hear he is having problems outside the injury though(could be done).

Hug

#71 was af freaken beast. And he could run a little too. How the heck does Guilford land a kid that has the frame taht size? Sorry to hear he may have some problems.
