And unfortunately our offensive line is not winning the LOS, at least not through the first three games. If that does not change, HSC will be forced to beat SU in a shot out and not sure I'm liking our chances; but much can change before we tee it up against SU.

Good luck this weekend, I'd like to see W&L put an a** kicking on E&H.

It's not your offensive line that will get Bauserman off the field, it's your defensive line. Your offensive line needs to keep him off the field.

We'll see about W&L. It's a lot harder to win the first game of the season and the first game after an opponent bye week for an option team.

we'll see how it plays out but I don't think BC scores 35 on HSC. Defense is pretty stout.

Agree with this take.  But I think BC's defense will show up.  I feel like if BC can get 24-ish points on the board, they have a good chance to win.

If BC scores 24, I feel confident HSC will win.  Going back to 2012 HSC is 14-2 when holding ODAC teams to 24 or less points.

if the OL controls the LOS the resulting first downs it will reduce the # of plays for Bauserman, is my point

SU wins 51-38.

QuoteASHLAND, Va. – The Shenandoah University football team earned its first win over Randolph-Macon since joining the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 51-38 ODAC victory over the Yellow Jackets Thursday night at Day Field.

Quarterback Hayden Bauserman was virtually unstoppable in the Hornets (3-1, 1-0 ODAC) win – the junior finished his night 32-for-60 for a school-record 558 yards and six touchdowns.

Bauserman completed passes to eight different receivers with senior Leonard Scott grabbing seven balls for 162 yards and three touchdowns and classmate Michael Ashwell added eight catches for 64 yards and a TD.

I'm surprised by the numbers but not the fact that RMC is struggling on defense. When a team loses as many really good players as they lost it's hard to replace. As much as people want to say tradition never graduates, sometimes it does.

Color me surprised, though I think we started to see it against Catholic. I thought they had enough depth to have 80 or 85% of the defense they had last year. I don't think they are anywhere near that right now. That being said, I've repeatedly pointed to Bauserman as the real deal. I'm not a real fan of 32 for 60, but when you get 558 yards on those 32, averaging 17.4 yards per completion, it makes up for a lot of incompletions.

Seemed like the problem for RMC against Catholic was more offense than defense. #1 QB Estes was out for that game. He was back last night and the Jackets offense performed better. But I have no idea how to compare CUA defense to the SU defense. SU offense is clearly better than the CUA offense.

Nice 51-38 win for the Hornets over RMC last night ... in Ashland, no less.  I didn't realize it was SU's first ODAC win over the Yellow Jackets until I read the recap.

Agreed, HSC will not be over matched but will be a home underdog. HSC can win only if they have no KEY turnovers leading to points. Special teams just handed UWP 21 points and that makes it difficult, if not impossible, to win vs. a decent team.

Real questions is what ODAC team will be able to slow down the SU QB ? Do you blitz him often or drop 8 into coverage ?

Looks like I was wrong.  In my defense, the win at TMC doesn't look as impressive as it did three weeks ago.  The Saints offense just isn't as consistent and efficient as it has been in previous years.

Good win today for HSC

Generals lost the turnover and kicking battle and came up short at E&H.  560 yards of offense and didn't get it done. 2 fumbles were brutal, especially the strip six. E&H kicked a 49 yard field goal, W&L missed a 30 something.

Credit to E&H. They had a very balanced offense that W&L just couldn't stop, especially the last drive. As usual, E&H had 4 or 5 15 yard penalties, but the two strips more than made up for it. Congrats to them.

On to next week.

Great win for the Tigers. I think it is very clear, any team in the odac is capable of beating you on any given Saturday. Will be fun to watch it play out.
Hopefully we can pull a road victory this coming Saturday.

W&L vs. E&H must have been entertaining, although I did not like the result.

GC looking forward to D3 play I'm sure, and the past two weeks could have them well prepared to compete.

Not sure what to think of the SU vs. RMC result, why in the heck did they play on Thursday nite during Parents Weekend ?

A very good win. TM will be back but 2017 is not their year. BC has a very good team. They will win a lot of ODAC games this season.  With only 6 ODAC games this season it's going to be tough for any team with 2 losses to win the title. A ton of pressure on those teams that lost over the weekend. BC and RMC have a huge game this weekend to IMO stay in contention.

HSC found a kicker!  After successfully going for 2 after the first two TDs HSC trotted out Jr. Steven Hall who until Wednesday had been a member of the HSC student body but not a member of the football team. He made all 3 extra points. The kicks were high and would have been good from at least 35-40 yards. After the first kick Coach Favret met Hall between the number and hash for a high five and a pat on the helmet.  Needless to say he was happy as were the fans!

Talking to players after the game and they were very excited about the game and getting ready to play GC. As far as I heard no injuries from HSC. Not sure about BC.

I understand tfa2.  lol   A well-played, injury free game would be great.  BTW, I checked the forecast for Saturday in the 27410:  Cloudy and 84.  No rain forecast until Sunday.

Good to know. I will not be there but glad the weather forecast is favorable. Enjoy the game, I think it will be a good one.
I have no idea what the outcome might be, but I think the Tigers will be competitive. Offense has improved over the past several weeks, kicking game is greatly improved, and the defense is pretty damn good as well, so I expect a competitive game.

Just another odac matchup that can go either way and I except each and every conference game to be the same; play well and win a close one, make mistakes and get beat.

Just got the scouting report on your Quakers; bottom line, the Quakers are reported to be loaded and may be the most talented team in the odac.
If this is true, take it easy on my Tigers this weekend.

tfa2, the Quakers are a good DIII team ... their 2-2 record is a bit deceiving taking into account our last two games vs Davidson and Jacksonville.  Considering the head-to-head results with HSC in the last 18 seasons (uh, 2-16), I think I should ask the Tigers to ease up on us!  It's a big game ... I know both teams will show up to play.
