Final in Greensboro  Guilford 45, Shenandoah 20

BC, E&H, HSC, RMC and W&L, you're welcome.

Nice win for your boys Hasa. Shenandoah got ODAC'd. It's happened to almost all of us. W&L and Shenandoah both still control their destiny, however, HSC and RMC now both need help.

W&L still has the least favorable schedule, going to both RMC and Shenandoah. H-SC hosts Shenandoah but goes to RMC. Shenandoah goes to H-SC but hosts W&L. And RMC has the best schedule, hosting both W&L and H-SC.

Shenandoah is also a game ahead in conference and has Apprentice to go. W&L hosts Bridgewater. RMC has to go to a newly dangerous Guilford. And H-SC travels to E&H. Advantage Shenandoah from those pickings.

Lot of football to go in the ODAC, where things rarely go to anyone's script.

I had the ODACity to run the numbers today.  We were an E&H win over Shenandoah from having a possible 7-way tie for the ODAC crown.

It's gotta be fun this season!

Wow... terrible targeting call in the HSC-W&L.  Huge loss for Generals.

yeah. For a beat up team that was a hard one to swallow. But if you are going to even think about leading with a shoulder or head, you put yourself at risk. He was definitely going upper body first instead of trying to wrap. Just not a good decision from the ref, but not a great decision from the DB either.

HSC didn't bring anything to the table today. They were bad in every aspect.

The targeting penalty was reviewed and confirmed by the officials by video at halftime.  I'd say since it was reviewed and confirmed that the ref made the correct decision.

In the end it didn't matter. Despite missing the two senior DBs, H-SC didn't do anything significant through the air. That was not what I expected from H-SC. The blocked XP was just weird watching them basically stand there and stare at each other wondering whose fault it was.

I think W&L will have a much tougher time moving the ball on RMC next week. We will see how the defense holds up but it has been better the last 3 weeks even as injuries have taken a toll.

I never said it mattered.  I said the decision was confirmed and therefore a good one.

WL had a much better game plan. WL was dropping 8 into coverage and HSC hardly attempted to run at them. When HSC ran it was almost always on first down and with one back in backfield. 6 sacks given up by OL, at least 4 were coverage sacks. 5 trips into the red zone and only 6 points?  That was terrible or great depending on which side you're for. I think WL is going to have a very tough game against RMC.  They run the ball. I have no idea as to why HSC abandoned the short passing game. It was CNU all over again.

Love the ODACity.  Thanks for the research.  +1

interesting that W&L and SU meet in the last game.

Really enjoyed being on HSC campus this Saturday. 1st time for me. Really thought it was a beautiful place. Wanted to join the party down by the lake but I had on enemy colors.
The Fishing Pig BBQ catered our tailgate and it was awesome!
W&L defense played well for all 4 quarters. Offfense had a sloppy 2nd half. Now back to Lexington and get ready for RMC.

We just get too conservative with the play calling and it kills our rhythm. Still, missing Sgro, Brand, and Hawkins off the offense and still doing what we are doing is impressive. Those are 3 big seniors who have gone down. Missing Freeland off the defense is big also. I'm almost afraid to look into the lines and see who has been hurt.

I'm very pleased and surprised at the resilience and the young players that are stepping up big time this season. A few years ago when the injury bug hit we went 2-8 and just couldn't get it done. The will to win from the younger guys, and sheer talent,  bodes well for the next few years if we can get enough bodies out there.

With 3 weeks left:

WL and SU control their destiny to win ODAC. If either wins out they will win ODAC.

HSC needs a WL loss and then to win all of their games.
RMC needs a SU loss and then to win all of their games.

Should be fun the last few weeks.

These last 3 weeks could get absolutely out of control. Watching W&L shut down H-SC and run all over them, and seeing way too many similarities in Shenandoah, I could easily see W&L losing this week against a tough defense and winning the last two to finish 4-2. I could see Shenandoah finishing 4-2 with the loss to W&L. That could easily put both H-SC (loss to Shenandoah, win over RMC) and RMC (win over W&L loss to H-SC) all at 4-2. Or Guilford could sneak in there by winning out and knocking down R-MC.

But yeah, you could end this season with 3 or 4 teams tied at 4-2 or just as easily have one stand alone at 5-1. Or pretty much anything in the middle. It's just a crazy conference. As we saw this weekend, winless in conference Guilford took out Shenandoah and otherwise winless in conference E&H took W&L down a peg. The difference between whoever finishes at the bottom, and whoever claims the AQ, seems almost random on any given Saturday.

Sounds like I picked a good game to miss. HSC lays yet another egg. Sounds as though the game plan was poor and execution even worse. How in the hell do you allow yourself to get run out of your own house, almost as though you don't care ? This is an embarrassment for the Tigers; two years in a row W&L has absolutely dominated them. Where is the pride ? Where is the preparation ? Where is the desire to redeem yourself from the a**kicking they received from W&L in 2016 ? To turnaround and allow another a**kicking in 2017 does not sit well. They can either turn it around and/or have another losing season. If that happens, good luck on the recruiting trail. Tigers need to slap themselves in the face and/or accept being a less than average ODAC team. I guess we'll see how much pride/desire they have. This nightmare has lasted too long and needs to end before it is too late. We either have a program or we don't; they way we finish this season will indicate where HSC stands as a program. Two losing seasons in a row could do us in, but show signs of improvement from 2016, there is hope.

JK, congrats on the victory and good luck vs. RMC. As you can tell from my comments above, I'm a bite embarrassed and pi** off. last two years W&L has beat us 93 to 13 (something close to that), and that makes me want to puke.

Close. 88-13. And yeah, if I was an H-SC fan I'd be pretty unhappy. It'll be an interesting close to the season for all the ODAC teams for sure.

Jk; Good, 88 to 13, still want to puke.

Are you telling me W&L dropped 8 into coverage and still had 6 sacks and we only averaged 1.9 yards per rush ? That almost sounds impossible. Did the OL ever get out of the locker room ?

W&L did drop 7 or 8 most plays. I would say 4 or 5 of those sacks were coverage sacks. The passing game seemed to be almost completely an attempt to go vertical. As for rushing, you actually averaged closer to 2.4 or 2.9 ypc if you take out the 35 yards or so lost on the sacks. Still not much to brag about, but there were a few good rushing plays on your one scoring drive. The offensive game plan was not effective in pretty much any phase. The announcers at one point were convinced Cobb was banged up. It ranged from his finger to his elbow to his legs, but they seemed sure something was wrong with him.

tigerFanAlso2

no such thing as coverage sacks if you are only rushing 3, sometimes 4. That's just bad football.

just a bad game; hopefully its out of our system; we can react like we did last year after the W&L game and throw in the towel or get piss** d and go out and play football. No excuses, we're either in or we're not. The E&H game will answer the question, more importantly, the effort vs. E&H will say everything you need to know about the 2017 HSC squad. Let's hope they play with passion/pride.
