I think CUA has set the record for most possesions inside the 5 yard line without coming away with points. I think I can count 10 off the top of my head. There were at least two yesterday.

Of course the game was not decided until the last drive. That seems to be the the cool thing to do this year for the Cards. I think the last play ended on the Sydney 20 or 15, but I can't remember exactly.

I'm pretty sure they had 400 yards of total offense. Somehow they are gonna learn to turn that offensive fire power into 35-42 point games consistently. Definitely have to get more than 21 points out of that production. Not being able to run is a killer.

Pretty entertaining game and nice win by HSC.

The Bridgewater/Emory & Henry game was not what I expected. What I saw was a mediocre Bridgewater team with two great running backs -- Washington and Young.  You take these two guys out of the game and it may have been a pretty even ball game.  I got the impression that when BC rolled into the little burg of Emory that they thought that the Wasps were just going to roll over and play dead.  To my surprise, it was a good ball game.  If BC expects to win the Holy Grail ie ODAC championship, they have to play better than they played yesterday. With W & L, RMC, and Catholic remaining on their schedule, they have a chance of possibly losing any of these football games.  With most teams scoring an average of 40+ on Emory & Henry, BC could only get 31 points on the board.  They are going to have to do better than this for the remainder of the season to win the ODAC championship.

Kid, you were talking about E & H's offensive line and what an odd lot they are.  Your front four had a difficult time handling them, especially the two smaller guards as you called them.   Of the teams that I've seen so far this year -- Ferrum, W&J, Methodist, RMC-- BC would have struggled to win against any one of these teams if they played the way they did yesterday.

To E&H's credit, this was their best ball game by far this season.  If they continue to play like they did yesterday, they could win out the rest of the season and be 3-7 which is better than 0-10.  E&H had a gutsy performance yesterday and didn't give up, even scoring with 17 seconds left in the game against BC's first team defense.

BC good luck W&L next week because if you play like you did yesterday, you lose.

Peace.  I am the E&H dad.

Hmm, they must've known the attendance police were coming -- just 1,734 claimed in the box score.

Well, here you go...

I counted 286 fans on the home side (in the bleachers and standing around the field) during the second quarter.  Llama counted just fewer than 100 in the visitor's stands.  We threw in (just for good measure) another 50 who watched the game from their cars ... and another 50 who just tailgated the whole time (by the way, there were probably no more than that many that tailgated from both schools because of the weather).

So that gives us a grand total of 286+100+50+50 = 486 ... and we will be nice and round up to 500.  And actually, since we didn't account for those using the restrooms, at the concession stands, or in campus buildings ... we will throw in another 100 people (an obvious overshoot).

So that brings our (our being Llama and I) EHC-BC game attendance to 600.

So you all tell me (and below are pics of the home and visitor bleachers during the 2nd quarter), where are the extra 1,134 people they are counting?!

first time i went to emory i couldn't believe how empty the stands were. I was expecting 5000. Why do they inflate their numbers like that?

Yikes, where do I start?

I walked away from halftime (10-0 BC lead) without a worry in my mind (either in BC's offense performance or what the outcome of the game might be).  With the field conditions as they were, there was no way either offense was going to put up many passing yards.  The game was going to be won on the ground, and it was.  Keep in mind it BC had a 31-3 lead when the 2s & 3s came in.  And that's also when Todd Woods starting clicking with the passing game.  Emory & Henry was BY FAR the smallest (and youngest) defense we have faced all year.  And that offensive lineman (#52) was just funny looking (he really was only 190 pounds!).

How can you say we didn't handle you all like all your other opponents have?  We held you right at your season averages in rushing; 50 yards rushing (2.0 yards per carry).  We actually held Woods to 70 yards less than his season average of 220.  I'm surprised you saw the same game I did.  Had we won 31-3 (with the conditions the way they were), would you still be posting the slant that you did?  Gimme a break.  The game was never in doubt.  Had it not been for a BC freshman RB fumbling, and a late-game BC penalty negating our backup QB's rushing TD, then the final would have been 38-10.

I was only impressed with two players on E&H; Stewart and Doss.  Those two guys are studs.  Other than that, I couldn't see anyone on your team being on our two-deep.

Good luck not going 0-10!

Bridgewater mediocre?

Maybe................

if they joined 1AA conference for the rest of the season?

Maybe they look ordinary when forced to be mudders. Or maybe they were taking it easy just a little bit. 31 point in the mud is a ton.

E&H dad: It was not a good ball game. BC played their worst offensive game of the season and still would have had 40 points if it wasn't for a called back touchdown. And two easily miss field goals.

I admit the first half we played to the horrible level of E&H but BC came out the second half and destroyed ya'll. Bc defense punished the offense all day. To be honest the o-line was horrible. the best player on the o-line was the 190 pound guard.

And at the end the starting D was not on the field during the last drive. The starting linebackers and secondary didn't play the whole 4th Quarter because they didn't want any players to injure themselves on a sucky field to a sucky team. The second team linebackers and DB's was in. It was the third string that came in with almost 9 minutes to go. The defense coordinator put the second team linebackers in during the last two plays on the one yard line. In which E&H guys scored on. (from my judgement he didn't get in on the QB sneak but the refs gave it to them.

If that was the best game that ya'll could possibly play, well be happy with it because you guys are lucky that Bob Colbert stayed conservative and didn't go into the playbooks. If you were watching the game. All we did was leads,PAP, and hitches the whole game.

Our goal was to go down there and avoid injury on the crappiest field of the year(maybe because the rain played a part ). But i hope that game gave you guys so kind of confidence because if you guys win a few games it could help BC and the conference out.

Good Luck

I bet that E&H prayed for rain and mud because it would slow down the offense. It worked because when was the last time you seen Marcus Washington caught from behind.

If it didn't rain then they might have tried high grass to slow down the Bc offense. Well i would have  ;)

Hey, it work against USC (for a while) but when you put athletes in space it does not matter Reggie Bush or maybe Marcus Washington.... haha

Im sure E&H dad was just kidding with that report from the game yesterday.  He was obviously just trying to stir up some talk on here.  That or he is just crazy.  He said take our two running backs out of the game and it was even.   SO...thats like saying take Micheal Vick and Warrick Dunn off the field for the Falcons and anyone they play they will be even with.  Of course if you take away any teams two top threats they will be weaker.  The funny thing though is that we still would have beat the Wasps if either of them didnt play.  But Im sure E&H dad was just kidding. I know he's smarter than that.

Kid, I'm not going to lower myself to your level and start making  personal remarks about other players! You comment was really over the line and sophomoric at best. The facts speak for themselves: the young man in question was out weighed by 60 lbs by the DT in front of him and had no trouble at all in out finessing and out playing him. If you are in doubt I have film and will send  you a copy.
With that said Kid, if you want to continue bashing people feel free to take aim at me and not at players.
I'm not going get into numbers game; statistics and averages. All the hype Ive heard about Bridgewater did not come up to my expections of them. Honestly I was expecting a football machine that was going to run over E&H and score at will, but again this was not the case. Kid you are right the game was never in doubt, but the offense had to work to put up 31. Bidgewater has to have a much better peformance against W&L if it wants to win and not play with the same attitude they had against E&H.
cuaplayer- O.K. Here come the excuses why Bridgewater only scored 31 :rain, mud, fumbles, penalties, we had are 2 and 3 players in the game, and my favorite we were taking it easy on them, we didn't want to run up the score ----- thats B.S. Bridgewater thought of this game as a scrimmage or a warm up to the W&L game and that E&H was going to lay down for them.which was not the case.

Hmm, me saying a 190-lb offensive lineman looks funny is considered bashing?!?  Wow.  Pretty sure anyone that was at the game (or can imagine) will atest that a 190-lb lineman standing beside a 350-lb one (#75) "looks funny."  That's no bash at all.

And what hype is there about BC?!  There aren't too many BC fans on this board that are hyping up a team that gives up 30+ points a game, and loses a game when they were up 19 at half.  BC could be something really special, but we have yet to play a game where both the offense and defense plays to its potential.  But hey, I'll take a 6-1 record and Top 20 ranking having not played to our potential!

But I'll let you have "last word" and let this (whatever "this" is, lol) rest.  I'm sure you're just frustrated at your team's 0-7 start ... honestly, I will be too in a couple years if BC were to have that kind of season.

Wow, okay.  Now I get it.  I feel stupid!

I just looked at your e-mail address for the first time, and see that you are in fact (how ironic) Tyler Haslam's father (Tyler being the 190-lb lineman).

Now I see why you took it personally.  You're not crazy ... just protective (as I would be too).

I'm sorry you didn't get to see the BC scoring machine that you anticipated. But you hit the nail-on-the-head above. BC was looking ahead of an 0-6 team that had scored 50pts all season. You have been around sports long enough to know that players can say they aren't overlooking them but thats just not the case.  ;)

I personally think W&L did the same with Guilford. As for losing to W&L,RMC, and Catholic, not going to happen. BC comes into all big games ready to play, Case in point, BC has been in every playoff game til the final gun with the exception of one trip to Alliance in 2003. That is a track record I will bank on!

E&H will get it turned around, just going to take some time.

E&H dad.  Rain and mud arent excuses for anything. But they are something that makes it tough for a team that relies on speed and quickness to score.  Thats just truth, not an excuse.  Everyone has their own emotional victories.  For us its winning games anyway.  For E&H, apparently its only losing by 21 points and getting into double digits in scoring.  Everyone celebrates their own way, and thats fine

bcsportswriter

did i say 21?  i meant 14. :)  I sure do miss the good ol' days when you typed in a past and then it asked if you wanted to read it over before it was placed on the board.  That was really a good thing. ;)
