what an amazing day of football.  Ferrum and WL tied with less than 4 minutes to go and 3 games decided by a total of 8 points.   Great day to be a fan of the ODAC

There are 10 games. But there are only 7 ODAC games. They've played 3 of those so not even halfway through the season, bud. You asked "any chance RMC doesn't win the ODAC".

Btw as I type this RMC and BC are tied 17 17 going into the 4th.

Now 24 17 BC in the 4th. Can they be beat? Ask BC.

Not exactly USA beating Russia but it's now 31-24 BC. Do you believe in miracles? No!  RMC 44 to 41 in double OT. But I think BC made my point.

5 in half of 10. That is halfway through the season, bud. Btw 5 is an interesting number because that's many years it's been since HSC has won "The Game" losing 4 straight. If HSC loses before The Game and RMC keeps winning the jackets could clinch during game 9 I hear

Here's you original post "Any chance RMC doesn't win the ODAC this year? I have a hard time thinking they could lose a conference game the rest of the year.".

I answered that question and so did BC today.  By the way we've never met so I doubt we are buds. Maybe we could be but right now we are not. They were less than half way through the conference schedule at 1:00 today.

Regardless they have 3 games left and the way they played in the second half today they'll be lucky to win anymore. They are far from a dynasty. But you're right. They could have a 9-1 season. They could also have a 6-4, 7-3, 8-2 season. What's your point?

You doubt RMC will win another game this year? Hopeful thinking buddy

Asinine questions deserve asinine responses.  I never said I doubt they win another game.  You said they could have a 9-1 season - they can.  (See I am agreeing with you that this is possible) It's also possible and yes I am hopeful, they don"t (this is a fact not disagreeing with you). Thanks for being my buddy.

I typed this very slowly and tried not to use big words so you might be able to understand it.

RMC finally got another poster....and it's this guy....but anyway awesome day in ODAC!  Came on wanting to hear more details about these nail biters around the conference!  Cannon Watson's radio call of the winning field goal today gave me chills! Roll Tigers!

I have been following this conference for 36 years and I cannot think of a more competitive and close weekend of games than this weekend. Ever.

GC HSC game was a great one. Both teams played well.  Right before halftime GC got a first down with about 5 seconds to play. Instead of spiking the ball GC ran out their FG kicker to attempt a FG before the half.  EVERYONE WATCHING THE GAME saw the clock at 0:00 BEFORE the ball was snapped.  Everyone but the back judge.   They awarded the Quakers 3 points!  It was the most ridiculous call I've ever seen.  The snap was a full second AFTER time expired.

All turned out well for the Tigers as Cobb was great, and Smith was unstoppable!  Smith went 30 for 214 rushing, 12 for 118 receiving and even went 1-1 for 9 yards passing.  Amazing day for Garnet and Gray!
I was watching via internet, and you are correct about the kick at the end of the half.  As a GC fan, I am really glad those were not the winning points. I know we lost, but I only would have want to win if it was by 4 or more pts.

Why didn't they spike the ball? My guess is  maybe they don't practice it. QB can only spike if he takes the ball from under center. GC is in shotgun ,all the time. This kills me when a team needs one yard and they hike the ball 5 yards deep before they go forward.  Just an old-school coach with simple old-school thoughts.

Yes, it's okay to be partisan, but would be nice if everyone could avoid the snarkiness.

In R-MC vs BC -- after BC reeled off three unanswered TDs the Jackets' Tre Frederick broke away for his 2nd 60+ yard TD run of the game to tie it at 24. Each team scored again to make it 31 all in regulation. BC had the final possession of regulation but couldn't score. In OT each team got TDs on their first possessions. BC then had 4th and goal on the 2 and were going for it but a delay of game pushed them back so they kicked a FG. R-MC then got a TD for the win.

Actually BC was going for the two point conversion when they had the delay of game penalty.

Nail biter of a day all around. I'm glad the W&L Ferrum game did not go to OT. On Ferrum's last score they went for 2 and got it on a very creative play. The ref called it back for illegal man downfield. It was a ridiculous call. Absolutely stupid. It forced Ferrum to kick the point and get the tie. W&L then marched the field and kicked a field goal as time expired, so it wouldn't have mattered. But that call was awful.

The announcers also went nuts as before the fg apparently Ferrum wanted a TO to ice the kicker. Not a bad plan as he had already missed 2 on the day. But it wasn't given. The camera showed the wrong sideline so I have no idea if the coach had the call in or not, but I suspect he did. No home cooking for Ferrum on their Homecoming apparently.

You know what I understand? HSC hasn't beaten RMC in 4 years. That's getting to embarrassing. And as RMC is on they're way to another ODAC championship, a 5th RMC win in "The Game" is probable. No wonder HSC fans have a reputation.

Oh, right. Short term memory loss due to old age  :). Jackets dodged a bullet there. I'm pretty sure BC had something clever cooked up, but maybe too clever for their own players, thus the delay.

Upon further review!!!!!

After viewing the play frame by frame it looks to me as is the center was snapping the ball as time expired.  It did not matter in the end.

I coach middle school football.  We used to never go under center either.  We called a 2 by 2 or a 3 by 1 formation and had the QB throw it at the inside receivers feet. Might have taken an extra second but certainly better than not being able to spike the ball.
