It was clear on Saturday that CUA has closed the gap on HSC in just one and a half recruiting classes. I say one and a half because T. Clark did not take the job until February of 2003 which is late to get a full class. The only talent gap that remains is with BC. CUA will catch them..but will it be in one or two years.

Questions:
Is Kiesel a pure renagade?
Will W&L roll over and play dead versus BC?
Was James Parker the greatest CB in ODAC history?

Jeremybozz

Catholic might. BC has 33 seniors this year.

LLAMA
A million bucks for GC-Q stadium? Somebody has been talking this for a long time. It is a 1-A high school stadium.

People have offered to help but the administration puts strings on the offer such as "give us the money and we will fix the stadium" . Oh that sounds reasonable" They get the money and build another monument to women who do not shave their legs for months or "I hate the Ronald Reagan Center" or my favorite "I'll take a knife on board an airliner center for idiots".

I will believe it when it is finished. In other words don't hold your breath

I will still respect you in the morning ;)

Was curious how you guys view the Liberty League... Do we have any respect from other conferences or what???
Anyone notice how none of the kids from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were even a little bit cool... Where was the athlete who pile drives wonka into the chocolate river??? Coulda done sooo much more with that "classic"

GCOL

abnrgr,
I play at GC and i can tell you yes we are getting 1.5 million for the stadium, not just 1.1, and it is in an account the school cannot touch unless it is just for football.

abnrgr - I'm sure you crack yourself up.  lol  If you understood a bit more about Quakerism and non-violence, you wouldn't be so quick to denigrate what makes Guilford special - namely, their active - and proud - support of the rights of women, the underprivileged and the inalienable right to participate in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience.  I hadn't thought about "The I Hate Ronald Reagan Center," but that's not a bad idea.  I'm sure we could raise a lot of money for that too.  lol  I'm also fairly confident you don't want to understand and that's fine with me.  We'll respectfully agree to disagree.

Now, as far as the $1.1-1.5  million for the stadium is concerned.  It was announced at halftime of the Sept. 2 Methodist game and it is posted on the college website.  The college President did talk about it at an awards dinner in September.  The previous administrations would never let money be designated just for athletics - it had to go to a general fund and was often spent for other more trivial things, such as books for the library, science lab equipment, the environment, study abroad programs and theatre supplies.  That rigid approach seems to be softening some, however, and monies can now be earmarked for specific projects such as the stadium.  You are right, Armfield is not a college-level field.  It is definitely not up to the standards it should be and I, for one, am glad to send some money its way.  After, of course, the library, the chemistry labs, the ecosystem and monument row are all fully stocked.  lol

Peace

Bird Fan - Not sure if Kiesel is a pure renegade, but his teams are fun to watch.  I've seen more bombs, halfback options, laterals, and hook & ladders in 7 games than I've seen in 3 decades.  lol  It's so interesting, in fact, I'm tempted to drive to DC for the Nov. 5 CUA game.  With Vogelbach and K. Ricca, I bet there will be over a 100 combined pass plays!  The box score should be wild!

GCOL - good luck this weekend vs RMC.  You guys are doing great and we appreciate what you've accomplished so far this year.

Bird Man,
Parker was one of the best corners and return men to ever play in the ODAC.

naked nott run -

Unfortunately, I haven't seen too much interleague football play between the Little League & the ODAC.  I've seen other sports - lacrosse, soccer, baseball - but not much football.  The ODAC (& other d3 schools) have a tremendous amount of repect for the Little League schools academically, but I believe the consensus would be that at least the current top 3 teams in the ODAC (BC, H-SC & W&L) would wreak havoc on Little League opposition.  I think the rest of the ODAC would also be competitive.  Hobart & Union are having fine seasons, but there looks like some vulnerability, especially at Union.  An interesting question and others more familiar with LL play may want to chime in.

BC #15 in coaches poll. Ferrum #25.

Again, I will believe it when it happens. (IRT the stadium)

You mistake my comments as ignorance. 17 different countries means 17 different cultures. I do understand what the school stands for and I find it repugnant as you find what I did (3rd generation professional soldier) for 20 twenty years.

Since my son was a 4 year starter at GC it took me almost 6 months to get him to vote properly after he graduated.  ;)

Again the purpose of this e-mail is to say I will believe it when I SEE it. Not to engage in a tit for tat.

(All your LOLs after your comments suggest that you tend to crack yourself up too. You're a funny guy. So we agree to disagree).

Sidebar- It's a shame that Iron Mike got the boot. I played against him in the 70's. He was never given the tools.

I've also seen the stadium issue discussed before, so maybe you're right.   This time, however, I have the sense it's true, but time will tell.   Forgive me, you do & should know a lot about GC.  The school has lots of room for different attitudes as do I.  In no way do I find what you did repugnant (I didn't even know what you did) & I never said that.  My father was a veteran & he proudly did what he had to do.  I considered the USAF, but ultimately decided not to join.  You believe as you believe & I respect that.  But I do take mild umbrage with the remark "to get him to vote properly."  What does that imply - that I & other Guilfordians don't?

Yes, I do think I'm a funny guy, but I meant no harm to you.  You thought you were funny also, but I just wanted to call you on some of the things you said & let you know everyone respects, but doesn't necessarily share, your view of what's "right" in the world.  Good luck to you.

It is a shame Mike is gone.  He is a good guy & I wish him well at WSSU.  As the saying goes, "the new coach gets what the old coach needed."  True here too, I think.   Peace.

GCOL
