Well the picture for the championship game is starting to become pretty close to complete.

E&H is 3-0 and has no more games scheduled, so they are locked in for the championship game. Wouldn't surprise me if they tried to pick up a game either next week or two weeks from now with the W&L game being cancelled. Not sure you want to have two weeks off before the championship game when you've only played three games. It won't matter for the ODAC standings though as even if they pick up an ODAC team it won't be an ODAC game.

H-SC and R-MC the only other two teams undefeated. H-SC has Guilford next week and R-MC has Shenandoah next week. If they don't choke in those games, they'll be playing for the #1 seed and hosting the Championship game on April 2.

The Game will decide who plays for the championship!  Congratulations Tigers on another fine victory!

The winner will host the championship, the loser will host the #3 vs. #4 game. #4 will be Bridgewater if they win next week. If they lose and Ferrum wins, then it will be Ferrum. If they both lose, it will be Bridgewater.

So here's how it breaks down now for next week's game with only one game left before the title game and seeded games. Highest seeded team hosts each game.

#1 Winner of H-SC/R-MC vs. #2 E&H - should be a good one

#3 Loser of H-SC/R-MC vs. #4 Ferrum - shouldn't be particularly competitive based on comparative scores

#5 Shenandoah vs. #6 Bridgewater - Literally a rematch of this week's game that SU won 19-18 by scoring the winning TD with 32 seconds remaining

#7 Southern Virginia vs. #8 Guilford - I imagine this will be some grotesque football but SVU should win handily because this Guilford team is about as one of the most uncompetitive ODAC football teams I've ever seen

I'd say given the outcome of the game, it's clear to see who got the spanking, certainly not the 'little kids from Ashland' (where did that come from anyway?).  But, seriously, going into this game I had my concerns.  Statistically, HSC had looked good.  Point differentials for common opponents (SU and GC) were the same for RMC and HSC.   I'd watched some of their games and had even commented that they were much improved over the last few years.   But, offensively, it totally fell apart for HSC.  RMC had a lot to do with that, but not completely as HSC was not executing at all.  Additional concerns for me was the youth of RMC, especially in skill positions on offense, as everyone of RMC offensive skill positions are sophomores.  They did leave some points on the field, but RMC's execution on both sides of the ball was strong.  If I were an HSC fan, I'd been optimistic going in, but HSC is improving, so keep it up.

Guilford and Southern Virginia opted out of their upcoming seeding matchup.

New to the ODAC...

When do they usually release Football schedules for the upcoming 2021 Fall?

Pat Coleman

Normally, fall schedules would already be out. This year because so many schools played in the spring (and other schools played many sports in the spring), many schools have not put out schedules yet.

Dad, welcome to the board.  Assuming you're a parent of a new YJ football player, so welcome to him as well.

As to the schedule, it's seems to be very favorable to RMC.  The OOC games seem to be weak overall, plus many of the ODAC contenders are coming to Ashland.  Even though EHC will be the most challenging team for RMC, the game will not count towards an ODAC championship.   For RMC fans, the Homecoming game is two weeks earlier than normal.  RMC was very young this spring (especially at the offensive skill positions), so I think they'll be very good this fall.

Thanks Macon.  Yes, son will be a freshman this fall.  Really looking forward to the game day experience in Ashland and the upcoming season.  We watched this past spring season when we could and it appears Coach Arruza has them pointed in the right direction.

I know my son is looking forward to getting started with new phase and is thrilled to be a Jacket.

Go Jackets!

Dad, rest assured, that your son is in very good hands under Coach Arruza.  I'm a RMC grad and my son played under Coach several years ago.   Your son couldn't be going to a better school or football situation.  Good Luck and enjoy the Fall.
