And W&L wins the ODAC with a 28-24 home win over Ferrum! The Generals have gone 4-1 in games decided by less than a td. Losing to CNU last second week 1, beating RMC on a last second td, holding HSC after giving up a td and an onside kick late, kicking last second fg aginst E&H, and beating Ferrum on a td with about a minute to play and then holding out.

A good clutch team that takes the Generals first banner since Coach LeRose took over. It is also the 6th straight winning season, matching the second longest such streak in W&L history.

The program now sits only a few games under .500 for its history. Back in the early 2000s the Generals were 40 or more games under .500, so it has been a steady climb back and I hope they will break the .500 mark next year.

I don't know the last time they were over .500 for the history, but I suspect it goes back well before my 43 years...

Congratulations to the Generals on winning the ODAC. They are a good team that has played hard all year. Good luck in the NCAA playoff. Bring home a couple of wins and help the ODAC get some respect.

On a side note, was nice to see that W&L's greatest coach of modern times, Scott Abell, and his Davidson Wildcats rolled over St. Thomas today. Something I'm 99.99999% sure never would have happened without Coach Abell moving on and St. Thomas moving to the PFL...

Wonder if Coach Abell will get a shot at a bigger opening after taking Davidson from perennial cellar dweller to their first PFL title in his 3rd season and currently on track to repeat the title and playoff berth this year. He's only 49, but with a quirky offense I'd assume he will be a tough sell at the P5 level. But scholarship FCS or G5 might be in his wheelhouse.

With only 8 games against D3 opponents, a loss to a barely above .500 CNU, and a very mediocre SOS... I expect W&L will be going on the road somewhere unpleasant. We can always hope, and they've proved to be a scrappy team, losing the starting QB for the season, I assume, against R-MC and still finding ways to win, but it's not likely to be an advantageous matchup.

We will find out more when the new Regional Rankings come out, but I suspect the close result between Trinity (TX) at B-SC last weekend is the death knell for R-MC's slim playoff hopes. I doubt B-SC falls below R-MC on a very close loss to a higher ranked team than R-MC's very close loss to W&L. That leaves R-MC most likely as the 3rd team to try and get to the table from Region 3 in a playoff with only 5 Pool C spots total. That's a very big ask. Had Trinity or B-SC won big, it might have been a different story.

This should be a very tough pill for the YellowJackets to swallow and good motivation for next season. I love my Generals, and I'm proud of their season, and that was a HUGE win in Ashland, but having watched both teams down the stretch... R-MC is playing better football in my opinion. Do the Generals deserve the ODAC crown and Pool A? Of course. They won it on the field and that's what matters, but it is truly a bummer that R-MC needs a whole lot of dominoes to go their way this weekend to get a shot at the tournament.

Do you think R-MC will try to schedule a H&H with Johns Hopkins or the top tier CC teams? Or maybe a Huntingdon or possibly an SAA Team?

The Generals injuries this year have been absolutely brutal, glad they've found ways to win.

Generally speaking, R-MC and Johns Hopkins are almost annual opponents. I know W&L, JHU, R-MC and Dickinson had an agreement from 2015-2019, roughly, with each team getting a home game against the OOC foe. Prior to that, JHU played Hopkins every year but 2011 from 2004-2015. R-MC played Dickinson this year, so I don't know if R-MC, Dickinson and JHU are continuing to alternate.

But it's not like R-MC's SoS is the problem this year, .549 is good for 34th right now according to d3football.com. R-MC's problem is they lost to W&L, a team that lost their first game to a mediocre (5-5) CNU team. W&L was coming off a 700 day layoff as they didn't play any games in the Spring. If W&L wins that game, instead of giving up a last second td, they are probably the 3rd or 4th team in the region and it's possible R-MC's is higher up the rankings getting to the table earlier. Or maybe not. Hard to speculate.

But it's hard to say that the game against Dickinson hurt R-MC, and the one against Catholic certainly helped. But even if R-MC had played JHU, and won, they likely still would be blocked by wherever W&L falls in the rankings due to the h2h.

Yes. It's been impressive. The heart the Generals have shown is incredible. And winning so many close games is just not something you see very often. It really speaks to the commitment of the players.

It's unfortunate, but I wonder if a team has ever been in front of a team that they beat H2H because of a stronger SOS and a couple wins against RR opponents, everything else equal.

Certainly there have been teams ranked above teams they've lost to. I can't think of teams with identical records ranked above a team they lost to, but it probably happens. Especially if the victorious team loses to someone later in the season. But if you ask me to provide an example I can't.

Regional Rankings are out. As suspect, R-MC sits behind B-SC and Hardin-Simmons in the Regional Rankings. If you are R-MC, you are really hoping one of those teams loses this weekend, otherwise it will be a might big hill to climb to make the playoffs.

If you are R-MC you are also hoping you win on Saturday, otherwise it won't matter if one of those two loses.

Macon

RMC dominates in The Game.  WLU limps into the playoffs.  RMC is clearly the best ODAC team at the end of the season.
