Yeah. I think that's the best we can say for it. Nice to have games in DC again? Kind of ambivalent. 2 OOCs should be relatively easy to fill.

While this makes sense as stated above, I got to wondering if any ODAC team had played Gallaudet in the past decade or so. If so, it's likely been only a few games. From that standpoint this move is a bit curious. Still, seems like a good thing in the end.

Gallaudet was desperate for a football conference as their last one imploded. The ODAC was desperate for a football affiliate. The ODAC doesn't need any more full members. This is a solution for both schools.

Gallaudet mainly played schools from the more populated northeast metro areas. It's where they are most likely to get players and students from. Rural VA isn't exactly chock full of deaf folks.

So this isn't a winning solution for them that way, but it is a conference and it's a better travel situation than they are used to. But losing all those northeast metro areas is probably a small blow for them.

The story on our website notes when the last time was an ODAC team played Gallaudet.

With summer camp only about a month off, what do people think the order of finish in the ODAC will be this year?

The usual:
                1. R-MC
                2. W&L
                3-5. Some variation of HSC/Shen/BWC
                6-8. Everybody else

Randolph-Macon lost 17 5th year seniors from last year's team. Losses included the starting QB and his backup, the starting RB, all starting WRs (including David Wallis who signed with the New England Patriots), the starting TE, two all-american O-linemen, two starting D-linemen, and a starting S. R-MC has a lot of reloading to do. This will be one of Pedro's biggest challenges.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  :)
While I obviously hope my Tigers will make me a liar and the league will be more wide-open than it has been in recent years, I've learned to have too much respect for Pedro to think he'd let things drop off too drastically up there. I'll stick with my prediction until proved otherwise.

While RMC does lose a lot, the pipeline is alive and well.  Last season I'd place RMC's second string against most ODAC teams.  The offensive backfield will be strong.  There will be some holes, but the depth in the program is strong.

BTW, one of those graduated QBs is headed to medical school, so Pedro develops men on and off the field.

HSCTiger74, I take your point. There is no doubt that your respect for Pedro is well earned. Nevertheless, there are many holes to fill.

It'll be interesting across the board I think.  Three big areas of change here.  RMC change of players with so many seniors gone.  W&L change of OC's as theirs (who I have enjoyed watching a lot since he took over with departure of Coach Abell) has left to be a head hs coach.  My alma mater, the H-SC Tigers had a changing of the guard with longtime head man Marty Favret retiring and now becoming AD at Lees-McRae.  Add in Ferrum with their changing of the guard with their HC now being a full time AD.  (Who had the two ODAC HC's to retire becoming the 2 latest AD's in the Conference of the Carolinas on your bingo card?!)

HSCTiger74

Welcome to the boards knightfan64. It's always good to see a fresh HSC voice around here, even if we haven't had that much to crow about in recent years.

Hope it works out for him.  Will never forget Trinity's Jerheme Urban returning a kick (or punt) for a TD in the Cowboys' last preseason game only to be cut the next day.

^^^ Yes, it's a tough road for D3 guys in the NFL. The odds don't favor him making the roster. Here's a short article with a bit more info on his activity in that game: https://www.unionleader.com/sports/patriots/david-wallis-has-impressed-mayo-he-s-an-explosive-player/article_4f7e0506-5685-11ef-bb61-63530435e66c.html?block_id=1113726
