kid - i plugged reggie bush into bc's lineup, and here are his projected stats given the same number of touches that marcus washington has - this is a complex modeling program which allows for very accurate evaluation of hypothetical situations - here are reggie bush's numbers in a bc uniform

Reggie Bush (as BC RB)
6 games
82 rushes
1386 rushing yards
16.9 yards per carry
26 rushing TDs
9 receptions
324 receiving yards
5 receiving TDs
4 kickoff return TDs
3 punt return TDs
1 passing TD (apparently he isn't as accurate a passer as washington)

if reggie bush had matriculated at bc, he would be a slam-dunk heisman candidate - clearly, he should have enrolled at bc :)

FWIW:  ODAC Point Spreads to Date:

38:  HSC defeats E&H
37:  W&L defeats RMC
24:  RMC defeats E&H
16:  BC defeats Guilford
14:  BC defeats E&H
7:  BC defeats HSC
7:  HSC defeats Catholic
4:  Catholic defeats RMC
4:  W&L defeats HSC
3:  W&L defeats Catholic
2:  Guilford defeats W&L
2:  HSC defeats Guilford

7 of the 12 games to date have been decided by one touchdown or less.

12 games down, and 9 games still to be played.  Anything could happen.

Maybe this should be posted on Llama's playoff board but I'm gonna post it here anyway.

It looks next to impossible for Bridgewater to host a first round playoff game.  At first, I thought it was because we lost to McDaniel.

But the way I see it, BC would be ranked slightly below Ferrum even if we had beaten McDaniel.  So we wouldn't host a game even if BC had gone 9-0.  Wow!

So my question is, assuming the above is correct (Llama or Kid could probably run our QOWI with a win over McDs) should BC try to schedule a tougher opponent to replace McD?

With the Centennial Conf going to 9 teams next year, I have a feeling McDaniel will drop BC, leaving us to fill that void.

How about a BC/Rowan rematch?

Do out of region games count in the QOWI, assuming BC wins?

Sorry for the rambling post, but I thought of these things while I was posting.

What BC really needs is the ODAC as a whole to win more games out of conference next year. I assume the 2006 game with McDaniel will stand as the changes start 2007. Also playing at Ferrum will help BC. We will have 10 in South region games next year so a 9-1 record would look quite good next year. As for hosting, what hurt us was that McDaniel & Shenandoah fell of the face of the earth and G Mason didn't count. I see it as a fluke year where D3 nationwide has teams that are great, zero & one loss, or just plain awful. Hell there are three 1 loss independents right now in D3? Just a weird year, ask Mt Union! :o

Quote from: hasanova on October 27, 2005, 11:11:03 AMalgernon - good to see you online - we chatted some in the "hoops" forum last winter.  Here's a mathematical possibility (I didn't say probability, folks) that's interesting:

BC defeats RMC, but loses to W&L & CUA, 4-2 ODAC
W&L defeats BC, but loses to E&H, 4-2 ODAC
GC wins out vs RMC, CUA & E&H, 4-2 ODAC
HSC defeat RMC, 4-2 ODAC

Such an outcome would be fun ... and the head-to-head standings would be:
BC  2-1
W&L  2-1
GC   1-2
HSC   1-2

W&L goes to the NCAAs (longest draught).

So, algernon, if we exclude H-SC (say they lose "The Game" at RMC and finish 3-3), would GC be the champ due the longest drought rule?  That scenario would be situation where GC beat W&L, W&L beat BC and BC beat GC.  I know it's very statistically unlikely and I am NOT betting the farm on it, but I would pay BIG money to see that happen!  lol

algernon

hasanova ... You raise an interesting question ....  In the scenario you propose, 2 of the 3 co-champs (Guilford and W&L) would be teams that have never been to the NCAAs.  I don't know how that "tie" between GC & W&L is broken, but I'm betting it's on the basis of a lottery procedure that occurred prior to the beginning of the season.  Does anyone else know the answer to this?

Llamaguy said "What BC really needs is the ODAC as a whole to win more games out of conference next year."

This is what everyone in the ODAC needs, not just BC.  The past few years have not been kind to the lower portion of the ODAC out of conference.  You can beat up on each other as the WIAC does, but you have to beat everyone else to gain very much national support.

Shoot ... you can add Hanover to that list too.  McD, She, and Han are a combined 3-8 in their conference this year.  Big difference from the 2004 CC, 2004 USAC, and 2003 HCAC champions, who went a combined 15-3 in conference.

algernon - if it was a "longest drought" tiebreaker and both schools had never been, would it then revert to head-to-head competition (GC) or regional and overall record (W&L)?  It's certainly NOT likely and only remotely possible, but  it is interesting to ponder - especially if you're a General or Quaker fan!  lol

BC fans - please don't give me any grief - I have loaded this with qualifiers and I know you are most likely going to the playoffs (although W&L is playing you at home this Saturday!), so let us daydream a little!  lol

pak et al,

If you tell me, as a BC fan that I've got four choices:

A. Go to UJH
B. Go to Ferrum
C. CNU at Home
D. Methodist at Home

I'd say bring'em on, doesn't matter, give me one of those four.

I'd say no thank you to Rowan. They are out of Region. Ferrum may be a descent pick up.

Somebody brought up that BC might have to drop McDaniel in 2007 with the addition of Moravian and Juniata to the Centennial. With the increase from 7 to 9 teams in the CC, each of those schools will have to drop 2 out of conference games. I know 2007 schedules probably aren't public yet, but I know schools make contracts for games years in advance. Does anybody know how many games that ODAC teams might have to find new opponents for.
I know Catholic, RMC, and BC all played McDaniel this year, and that HSC plays Dickinson and Hopkins. Some of these matchups probably won't be effected, but this will likely mean some more travel in order to find out of conference games for ODAC schools. Its possible that out of region games such as Augustana/Catholic and Hanover/BC might become more common, as well as ODAC opponents starting to play some of those MAC schools that now have open dates.

hasanova ... I'm hoping that 'kid' or someone else can give a firm answer on what the 3rd tie-breaker is (after head-to-head and longest draught).  I don't know.

algernon- thanks.  It'll probably be a moot point after this weekend anyway, but you never know .... I'm just glad the ODAC is at a point where the championship is still in doubt in the 9th week of an 11 week season!

Wow, BC is higher than I thought they'd be in the regional rankings.  I was thinking they'd be 7th.

Not to knock everyones hope that BC will lose 2 of the last 3 games but 2 of the last games are at Jopson Field (Home),  it's been a long time since BC has lost an ODAC game at home and I for one can't see it happening this year.  McDaniel only won by one so it just goes to show how tough it is to play at BC.. Catholic is tough at home even when they're having a down season but they don't stand a chance at Jopson Field and neither does RMC..

Go Eagles beat the Generals!  ;D

pakownr97

Disregard my previous lengthy post.  It proves that I have no idea how the NCAA minds work.  I thought that according to their criteria, BC would be ranked 9th in the south.

But I'll take the fifth.  Here's to a Ferrum loss this weekend.  I think that would give BC a home game, if the Eagles win out.

See, ODAC, we BCers assume nothing.  I said "if" we win out, not after we win out ;D
GO BC!
