Kid, I was writing a thanks to you and it disappeared.  God knows where it went.  I don't know.  But drift by Flory 3rd floor Coffe room (at end of hall toward Old gym)  As it is Film day, it is Brownie Day for my O-Liners.  I also make a few for my colleagues.  There will be Triple chocolate Godiva (like we had at the last Stone Station at BC), RAspberry Triple chocolate brownies, Fudge Toffee brownies (Adrian's favorite), M&M blondies (most of the O-Liners' favorite), Chocolate Fudge M&M brownies (Troy's favorite) and Cinnamon Chocolate brownies.  I ran out of eggs before I got to do Rowdy's favorite, Pumpkin Raisin Craisin.  It's too late to go to town for eggs now.  There will also be a Raspberry Cream cheese almond toffee pound cake up there.  But it won't last long.  The last time I made it, it was gone by the next morning.  I will have to decide soon what to make for the tailgate this coming weekend.  I'm glad we will be at home.  Hope it will be as nice as it was at W&L.  I also hope there is some strawberry stuff--not just the melon, HINT, HINT llamaguy!  Do you want a pan of macaroni and cheese or lasagna?  Those are my non-baking specialities.  Back to the grading :( Oh well it will be next weekend soon enough.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Olinemom,
You know the Strawberry stuff will be at Stone Station this week. Gotta toast our 5th straight ODAC Championship. Concensus is we are going with Llamamomma's Famous Chili this weekend. Dessert of your choice would be great, no need for extra cookin.

Llama,

It's looking like poker night will be at my pad (well, technically it's your pad  :D).

We have four confirmed as of tonight.  And that doesn't include Natalie who I'm sure will play if she's in town.  I'm also pretty sure more will commit come Friday.

GCOL - I've got you pinned down to one of 3 people - mind giving me your number so I can focus  a little on your play at the E&H game Nov. 12?  Great job against the Yellowjackets.  I can tell you guys are gelling together and are much improved over the first few games.  Good luck against CUA in DC on Saturday.  I haven't made up my mind, but I am awfully tempted to head north ...

GCOL #64 (and Kid), thanks for the extra information.

I will be there for sure on Nov. 12 vs E&H, but still have to get some work done before heading to DC.  You make sure the Quakers stay focused on CUA this weekend.  If you win against the Cardinals, you'll really have something to play for against the Wasps.  I know how much you guys want to be 4-2, 5-5, so take one game at a time.

After graduation, I used to live off Milton Rd near N. Durham HS, so I drove by your practice field all the time.  I bet you played for Coach Merrill.  Another GC alumnus, Coach Browning, was there when I lived nearby.  I know Coach B. joined the staff at UNC-CH after NDHS, but not sure if he's still there.  My son finished #6 in the state in NCHSAA 171 lb wrestling in 2004 & competed against #25 for E&H (RB).  How about saying hello when your defense stops him for a loss on the Quaker sideline.  lol

Good luck!  Go Quakers.

One other thing from Saturday's game that I haven't seen mentioned a whole lot (or I may have missed).  What a great job Highfill did stepping up after Lewis got hurt.  The kid didn't look rattled at all and you couldn't have picked a more difficult spot for him to make is debut (other than mop up time he's played).  I mean to come in at halftime on the road down by 8 with the offense stagnant all day and have the composure he showed was nice.  Good things for the future.

And Pat, this is the type of thing that I would characterize as a component of a "character win".

Thats right I played under Coach Merrill, and I know The Brownings, I had his wife as my math teacher for 2 years at NHS.  Coach B is still at UNC he got a nice promotion back in the spring and is coaching D-line for them again.  And believe me CUA is the main focus right now.  I expect a good game out of them, especially after last years game and last weeks I know they want revenge.

GCOL - NDHS has always had a good program - 10-0 many years heading into the playoffs - so I know you had some good HS training from Coach Merrill.  Is Person County still the Knights' main rival or has it shifted to Riverside?  Glad to hear Coach Browning got a promotion at UNC-CH, but the whole coaching staff there better be wary - there is some unrest with Coach Bunting among the alumni.  I hope UNC finishes strong for his sake.

I believe you when you say CUA is the main focus right now and it should be.  I was at the Catholic game in Greensboro last year and I know they wanted to win that one badly.  35-21 wasn't it?  CUA realistically knew that was their only chance to avoid 0-10 with BC their last game.  I'm sure they are also quite "stung" by last week's loss to E&H - they had the lead and then had an INT returned for a TD in the last few minutes. Tough way to lose.

Do you know if the game is at CUA's DuFour Stadium or are they playing again at Howard?  Last week their field was so bad they shifted the venue to Howard's Greene Stadium, which is field turf.

Good luck against the Cardinals!  Go Quakers!

Congrats to Mays on getting the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for his 3 INT performance against W&L.

Person is still a very big rival, but it has shifted to Riverside a little bit, although NHS is strating to drop off the radar a little bit by having such a down season(4-2,6-4).  I think Coach B should b alright, because the last time UNC went on a firing spree that i remember was when i was in Mrs. B's class and Ken was one of the rew they kept.  Yes the CUA game was 35-21 last year, and i dont know where well be playing sat, but i wouldnt mind playing on the turf at Howard.  Upon seeing the results of their game last week made me really aware of the fact that neither game is going to be the least be easy and made the whole team ready to play that much harder.
