it is a little known fact that w&l was founded by george and Robert E. so that their male offspring would have a safe fallback school after they couldn't get into h-sc.

as for bc; well, do you think janitors grow on trees.  they have to go to school somewhere.

now, I dislike the 'Water as much as any other foe, but I at least respect what is done on the fied...

I vote for this a$$clown to be off the site..

I bet at best he is/was some marginal player at best, those always tend to be the most bitter when you are a member of a team that could best be classified as a dissapointment...

its too bad, because I think Favret is a good dude, its too bad some of his players hit too many branches on the jealously tree in their upbringing....

Can you smell what the CHEEKS is cooking??

Come on Era- Get it right homie.  ;)

George Washington did not have any sons from his loins. Lee's sons were very successful after the war. Lee admired the President and I believe MRS Lee was the granddaughter of George. They built the school in an attempt heal the wounds of the war, I believe he was the president of the school. As you remember the entire aristocracy of VA was whacked at Gettsgurg. Everyone with a brain, a lawyer, a doctor etc was smitted giving VA a brain drain (in some cases they never recovered the gene pool so yhey moved to places like New York)....I digress
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

See hasanova we ain't all bad! Now you have 2! ;)
No, you aren't!  Thanks!  lol
OK, c'mon now, someone took one Karma away!  Was it the spelling thing or the the correct homonym issue?  I can't help it if I do two crossword puzzles a day and watch Jeopardy reruns after our football season ends on Nov. 12!  Give it back please!  lol

I didn't take it, but anyone who has a restored red 68 nova is good by me. ;) Havanother! O wait I have to wait 12 hrs til I am granted some more karma. :-\
Thank you, Llamaguy.  I've had my Nova for 36 years so I guess I can wait one more day for some extra Karma!  I could tell you about some "road trips" in that car ... stay "tuned."  lol  PS, I bet you draw Ferrum in the playoffs - good luck!  I honestly think that's the only berth the ODAC is going to get, even if H-SC goes 8-2 and W&L 7-3 ... too many 1 loss teams ahead of them from which to choose.

Llamaguy-Yum  that chili was absolutely delicious the last time.  On another note, I have been amazed by all the creaetive spelling on the 189 pages.  Hew I never passed a spelling test (make that an English spelling test) in my life and look where I am.  It's been a great 23 years and counting!!  Wish I could afford to have Kevin H. clean me out in poker Friday night, but you know where I work.  See you at Stone Station!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Llamaguy

Agreed! Way to many zero loss and one loss teams in this year's field. 2 losses and you are out unless you get the Pool A, which is what has made BC's year so special. They have know since the end of the McDaniel game that they win the ODAC a fifth straight time or they stay at home. Now that the pressure is off, it will be interesting to see how they play the next two weeks at home.

I'd seriously like to point out that A. Robert E Lee was president of the college not a founder, and B. Wasington and Lee lived roughly 100 years apart

rmcjackets - re: GC/RMC game - Guilford's website has a very objective article about last Saturday's football game with a couple of good action photos (ok, so the action action photos are pretty much all-Guilford lol) ... but the article tells what each side did well and not so well.  You might want to check it out at www.guilford.edu, athletics, football and RMC game story.

Thank you Karma giver!  Was that you, Llamaguy?

Bmore BC

I know I have been critical of the BC defense this year, and rightfully so. But great job this week. Lots of turnovers forced. Wasn't at the game but listened and seemed as if the defense was a little more aggressive by pressuring the QB and knocking down passes in the secondary. Great defenses perform week in and week out so I hope the defense builds on this performance.

I think this is the best thing that could happen to the offense. Hopefully it will humble them and know nothing is easy out there, especially when running the football. I am sure Colbert will get things back to where they need to be. W&L always seems to play BC tough and last week was no exception.

Jeremybozz

BC cannot forget the 3 point OT win over RMC last year. Or that RMC has crushed McDaniel and E&H in 2 of the last 3 games.
The Eagles crowd should be fired up since they have played only 2 official home games  this year.
The D is finally clicking along with Special Teams. I am not worried about the offense.

SMMTiger.. is that how they make you feel better about going to Hampden Sausage-Factory College?   :D

As far as BC students being "dumb" or "stupid"  can you tell me how many HSC football players in the past 5 years have gone on to medical school?  BC has several ex-players attending Medical School, Grad Schools while others have very good jobs with large and small corporations so I'd keep it down when you're trying to compensate for your lack of wins on the football field.  By TRYING to tear down BC's apparent lack of education you're only making yourself look like the stupid one, not to mention making fun of W&L... because honestly we all know Michael Gundlach you probably didn't have a snow balls chance in hell to get into that fine university.

Keep making a fool of yourself! :) ;)

*Sorry Pat!*

Just an observation from the south ... what smmtiger said was wrong and he should and probably does regret it.  How many of us let our emotions get the best of us when we were 20, or 50 for that matter?  The best way to deal with this is to forget it and talk about football.  If smmtiger comes back with a sincere apology, we should accept it and move on.   That's what scholars and gentlemen such as Washington, Lee, Hampden and Sydney would have done.  All 14 ODAC schools take academics seriously and that's a big part of what bonds us together as proud institutions.  Sometimes, however, the athletic rivalries get in the way of what is ultimately important.  Athletes, and especially DIII athletes, must concentrate on an education and developing character for the real competition - life.  Unfortunately, smmtiger, we don't all win every football game, but we can always control how we deal with the outcome.  If you're strong enough and smart enough to play for an equally fine school such as Hampden-Sydney College, then I know you're well prepared to do what's right.

Llamaguy

Well said Hasanova but I think this one is just too far gone.:'(

This was posted September 25th by smmtiger just prior to the big game between BC & HSC:

however, let the bc faithful talk their talk this week.  from the number of posts on the site from the bc juggernaut and the dearth from anywhere else, i reckon that the page is going to be empty after saturday.  but perhaps these same people can board on the tiger bandwagon--we'll forgive your ignorance and gladly let you on.
Its nice to see a BC hater be so forgiving! :D :D :D Better luck next year, if you are still around post patterns.

From what I've seen of his game-day coaching decisions Favret is a big part of the reason HSC hasn't been able to get over the hump.  They have talent and have had it for the last three or four years.

IMO, if you gave the W&L coaching staff HSC's quality of roster things would be very interesting.  The Gererals are the most prepared, disciplined team we play year in and year out.  Their head coach deserves a great deal of credit for that.  And, not to take anything away from the W&L athletes, but he does it with considerably less to work with than most other schools in the conference.
