Also, I just looked at the player participation during the BC/Guilford game.  BC played 43 players in the game according to the website while GC played 23.  I am guessing that doesnt even include special teams.  I dont think we have 43 starters though...so subs must have been in there at some point.

Actually, player participation does include special teams players (if the SID catches them all) but doesn't include starters ... so BC played 65 players to Guilford's 45.

But I'd credit the 20-player difference to our starting-rotations.  gcballer is right about us not playing a lot of 3rd-stringers ... but again, it was 48-12 when the Quakers started piling it on.  Woohoo.

voted h-sc as 2nd best odac team. after watching both the hsc and w&l games (against bc), i thought we played pretty well (other than missed TD passes) against hsc and beat them, and i thought we played pretty sh---y against w&l and beat them. guilford: as you guys say we were up 48-12 at one point; that pretty much eliminates them as 2nd best in my book.
again, i'm only comparing these teams against BC, and i don't really know (or care) who beat who in their games. they probably played their best games against BC

About the BC defense:
They did stiffen up this last game when they needed to.  I think it was the first posession after halftime and RM marched down the field and scored to bring it 37-20.  Thats after basically marching right down the field just before halftime.  But one of the coaches gave the defense a nice "talking to" right in front of where I was sitting and after that the defense stepped it up and Macon never got another drive at all.  He really lit into 'em and maybe that what someone needs to do once in a while.  Is there a really vocal leader on defense that would do that?  I don't know the team personally enough to know the answer to that.  But when they play inspired they play very well!

Player participation doesn't include starters b/c they are already listed

I would have to say our best game was W&L then HSC second. Not BC, not that you care.  Of course i vote GC mainly b/c I play there.

Two questions for you all...

(1) Is it possible that Marcus Washington and Winston Young get All-ODAC 1st and 2nd team?

I think yes, although H-SC's Josh Simpson might have something to say about that (82.3 ypg, 10 TDs).

(2) How the heck are the coaches/SIDs going to decide b/t Ricca and Vogelbach for All-ODAC 1st team?

Phew, not sure.  Yeah, Ricca's a senior, has put up amazing numbers this season (and career), but freshman Vogelbach is breaking all these Guilford, ODAC, and NCAA records with a team that went 1-9 last year (and will most likely finish 5-5 this year).

Tigers get a few votes in the most recent D3football.com poll, putting them in a tie with DePauw for #35 .... and the new Quality of Wins Index has them listed at #48, behind Bridgewater, which is #41.

Still tough for them to make the playoffs, if they beat the Yellow Jackets and end the season with an 8-2 record, but we can hope that DePauw and Hardin-Simmons lose this coming Saturday, as that would help.

It will be hard to choose for the 1st team qb but I would guess that Ricca would get it over Vogelbach because Ricca is a senior.

A question bigger than all-conference is are they going to be all-americans behind Elliott?

Olinemom

Thoughts to Kid:  1) yes I think Marcus and Winston are both deserving :)
2)  JD is the senior.  Make Vogelbach Freshman of the Year.  However, my personal view is that Vogelbach deserves it over JD.  How one can be so accurate when one is being dragged down by 2-3 people as he was when they were come back against bC ???

Glad to see That HSC took Johns Hopkins to the wookshed.  That was what anyone would call a quality win. And GC got the better of Baby Ricca and team.   Congrats.  Especially 'cause I voted they would end up 5-5.  Such an improvement over last year.

About our defense, has anyone else noticed that our opponents seem to run through us like Sherman went through Georgia when we are running that 3-man line?   >:( When we have the 4 man line, the d-line and backs do so much better.  I also see much less stunting this year.  Not nearly enough pressure on the QB.  And yesterday I got plum tired of seeing #71 and #77 holding Rowdy.  Not one call--just burns me up!!  But we won so I shouldn't get bent out of shape I suppose.  What do you all think about the 3-man line?

My predictions:

FOY Josh Vogelbach, GC
COY Kevin Kiesel, GC

I think a lot of people would agree on Vogelbach for FOY, but some might have a different opinion on COY.  In fact, that would be a good poll if someone wants to post it.  No offense intended to the coaches at CUA, E&H and RMC, but I'm not going to put them in the poll.

Would someone create a poll with BC's Clark, W&L's Miriello, H-SC's Favret and GC's Kiesel for COY and see what our readers think?

It's not even among four coaches for COY.  BC's Clark and GC's Kiesel, IMHO, are the only two in the running.

Question is, what's more hard to do ... take a team (GC) that was 2-16 in the ODAC the last three seasons, and go 4-2 (if they win over E&H)?  Or continuing a record-setting streak (BC) of 35-straight ODAC games (if they win over CUA)?

Another tough call.  Some say it's harder to build a program ... others say it's harder to maintain.

Kid,

I agree with you on the fact that it is between Kiesel and Clark because E&H got worse from last year, Randy-Mac stayed the same, and Catholic made some improvements in the winning column. I think that the W&L coach should be in the mix as well because he has made some improvements around there as well.

If i had a vote I would vote for Kiesel though because he has turned around a program that hasn't had a non-losing season since '97. I also do agree with the fact that it is hard to maintain a winning program but in all honesty who would have thought that guilford would have been in the mix for 2nd place this season?
