******* Poster Alert, Poster Alert *************
Someone put out an APB, Skoaltrain is missing! Boy, you better not be working on #4 in the middle of football season!  :o

Llamaguy!  I'm here man!  Just busy reading all the posts in between creating #4 in the SkoalTrain household.  Also trying to figure out BC's first round playoff game.  I too hope it's Ferrum as does Hug.  I'm less than an hour from Rocky Mount which means I'll be there Wednesday night setting up shop.  Hoping to make the Catholic game!  Hoover's Mom is doing a two pot shrimp boil!  Let's close out the regular season like we brought it in!  From a tailgating standpoint that is.....

Kid- Bridgewater has won 34 straight ODAC games.  Is that the all-time best?  If not, what is?

Trenches

Miz,
Barnette's score came in the 2nd quarter and beginning of third.. so he was doing this against BC's best. He didn't just rack it up against any late competiton.

No question about that Trenches.  I think what Miz was saying is that Barnette didn't impress until after the game was a blowout.  Barnette (and all of GC, for that matter) didn't come up with a 1st down until its 7th possession, when it was already 27-0 in the 2nd quarter.

Trenches

Mizzou,
Oh I know BC had a much better showing as a team. They are the better team. One can only hope someone can take 'em down next year. But this whole thing started after kid saying he was most impressed by Martin (3rec, 57yds). I just wanted to know how it is possible that you could be more impressed by those numbers.

I'm even arguing for Smith (9rec, 137 yds, 1 td). As you say, that  was a close "60 minute game." Why would you not be more impressed by him then? My point really is that 3 catches for 57 yds isn't impressive to me, so i just wanted to know what he saw that impressed him more then Smith or Barnette. Get me now?

Any word on BC's WR #88, sorry I don't remember his name.  This kid was hot before he got hurt.  Will he be available for post-season?  Will he be on 52 man playoff roster?

On the subject of the 52 (or whatever) man playoff squad, I understand why it's necessary, but don't you really feel for those kids who work their butts off all summer and fall to make the team a success, then can't even dress for the big show?

Kid...
- The only reason I didn't like Bublavi as much is because watching him this past weekend, it looked like he didn't come off the ball hard on every play.
- I agree when you pass more, your numbers will be higher. Can't argue that. GC uses 5 main WR's (vs 8 @ BC...but your roster size is also near double, so this is expectied)
- How do you place the WR's Martin, Smith, and then Barnette after their respective stats in the bridgewater game (which is where i assume you saw each)?
  Martin: 3 rec, 57 yds, 0 tds
  Smith: 9 rec, 137 yds, 1 td
  Barnette: 12 rec, 151 yds, 2 tds

to me.. you'd think it'd be the other way around?!?

Honestly, the Bridgewater defense just played a better game versus H-SC and W&L than they did versus the Quakers.  The catches Smith and Martin did make versus BC were amazing.  Two of Martin's catches wouldn't have been caught by anyone else.  Smith had an impressive layout grab which put a smile on my face.  Again ... comparatively speaking, I'm arguing Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson are better than Larry Bird.  Obviously all three (like Martin, Smith, and Barnette) are legends (stud WRs in this case).

I'm thinking BC's first round opponent is very likely to be either Ferrum or Thiel, probably Theil.

I did an Expedia map from my house to Ferrum College is 249 miles.  From my house to Thiel College is 248 miles.  So I don't care.  I hope either of them loses this week so BC gets a home game.

Only thing I would interject is that W&L had a safety who was a lot better than anybody HSC had in their secondary.  #16 or #15, can't remember.  He had a funny name.  He was all over the field and brought the wood against BC.  The only kid from HSC who really impressed me on defense was their linebacker Burrell and their frosh. CB that picked off a pass against us and was very aggressive in coverage all day.

Good analysis as always.

I believe you're talking about Snoody (from W&L).  He's on my first team (as a CB).

Regarding H-SC's Inman ... he was named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week twice (more than any other player), is third in the ODAC in tackles (73), first in forced fumbles (2), and sixth in INTs (3).  The kid is a stud.  He (and the H-SC defense) did hold BC to "only" 31 points.

Kid,

I am not voting in the current WR poll because Barnette and Awkard are the only 2 I've seen.

But Barnette did impress me, especially the TD catch in the scoreboard endzone when he was covered by 4 BC defenders.  To me, that was impressive.

Blake Warring ... and I'm not really sure what his status is.  I'd love to have him on the field, though.  Coming into the season, I felt he was one of our best receivers (along with Awkard and Copeland).  Luckily he's a junior, so we at least have him for 2006. :)

Yep, I've got you.  I was responding specifically to what you had posted, not the discussion in general, so the purpose of my post wasn't to give my vote to certain WRs and not other WRs.

Kid already responded his reasoning.  I will agree that the one long catch Martin made was incredible.  I'm not sure how BC prepared to cover Barnette or Smith.  There has been some discussion on this board from the GC crew that they have the best starting 3 WR combination in the ODAC, and if that's the case, maybe BC had to do more single coverage against Barnette...I'm not sure, as I wasn't watching that matchup closely.  I WAS watching the BC Secondary vs Martin matchup all day, and it was clearly obvious that they were looking to contain him first-and-foremost throughout the day.

Haha, by far.  Emory & Henry might have won 10 conference championships from 1985 to 2000 ... but never once did they have back-to-back undefeated seasons.  Randolph-Macon is the only other team in the conference's history to have back-to-back undefeated seasons, going 4-0 in 1978 and 4-0 in 1979.  They went 3-2 in 1980, and 2-1-1 in 1977 ... so the best streak they could have had was 13 games over that period (depending on when they lost those games in 1977 and 1980).

So yes, BC's 34-straight wins in conference is far and away the best ever in the ODAC. :)

Warring has only played 2 games this year but is still the 5th best reciever on the team in yardage.  Pretty impressive. He averaged 82.5 yards per game in the 2 that he did play.  Also pretty impressive.  He definitely can spread the field.  Another tidbit on the recievers at BC.  Colbert finally threw a fade route down near the goaline Saturday to Copeland.  He is 6'0 (bigger than alot of corners) and can jump out of the gym.  Glad to see we used that to our advantage.

When the Defense wasn't at a huge disadvantage with the 3 man line,  they looked really good as well.

The three man line causes the quarterback to have all day to throw.  Unless the secondary has increadible coverage, there is no way that a three man rush should ever put pressure on the quarterback.  With no pressure any quaterback will be able to move the ball on the zone.  The three down lineman, three man rush prevent defense is preventing BC's defense from stoping anyone.  The last thing that BC should do is give a good quaterback more time to think, move and throw.
