Kid, you don't see the difference between 8-2 and 5-5?
[...]
Oh wait, I get it. You just want to look at ODAC numbers..thus the 4-2 = 4-2.
[...]

I'll spin it how I want if it helps my argument!  :D

Speaking of which ... since I got the Bridgewater campus-wide e-mail went out this afternoon around 4:00 pm, Washington has gone from 769 to 893.

For a campus of 1500, I'll take roughly 125 votes in four hours.  ;D

I love me some John David Ricca!  :-*

I have to hand it to you Mizzou ... for being a Bridgewater grad and fan (the latter I'm questioning  :D), you haven't once wavered from your "Ricca-is-the-Best-Player-Alive" stance.

But I think J.D. Ricca and Bublavi are more deserving of the ODAC's Offensive Player of the Year award this year.

Yes, Marcus rocks the ball when he touches it, but Ricca does too, and has done so many many MANY more times than Marcus this year.

I'd have to give my vote to Ricca or Bublavi.   The numbers they're putting up is incredible, and Ricca has kept HSC in every game it's played, including one against a better TEAM in BC.

As much as some of the BC folks have ripped Ricca this year for not being able to win the big game, he did more to keep his team in the game against BC than any other ODAC QB this year.

No other QB in the league that I've seen can throw a perfect spiral downfield the way Ricca can.  Period.  When you've got an arm and a talent like Ricca, DB's have to respect it and give the WRs more room.  Thus, HSC takes the screen pass when its available, which is quite often.

Ricca can throw the ball on the money.  I was once again impressed with his arm and accuracy.

I'd have to say...plug any other QB from around the ODAC into Ricca's shoes at HSC, and see if they can pull off those kind of numbers and put HSC in the position to win so often.  My guess... wouldn't happen.

I'd still say Ricca is more valuable than Washington to his team.

The bottom line is, screens or deep balls, wins or losses, Ricca is much more valuable to his team than Washington is to his.  Furthermore, Ricca is an offensive machine.  If you want to talk about production, don't even compare Ricca to Washington.  Compare Ricca to ALL of BC's running backs in a single game, and Ricca still comes out on top. It isn't just the system either for Ricca.  HSC's offensive production was way down after he was injured last year.

Congratulations to BC's Winston Young and W&L's Bradley McAllister for earning the ODAC's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, respectively.  They certainly deserved to win.  In any other week, however, here are some other stellar offensive performances, taken from Guilford's press release, that might have been worthy of offensive Player of the Week.  All are phenomenal, but notice Micah Rushing's triple threat game.  lol

"Redshirt-freshman quarterback Josh Vogelbach completed 45 (of 72) passes for 582 yards and five touchdowns in Guilford College's record-setting 49-42 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football win at Catholic Saturday.

Guilford junior receiver Chris Barnette tied an ODAC record with 17 receptions for 233 yards and a career-best three touchdowns. His 233 receiving yards set the Guilford record and stand third on the ODAC's all-time list. One of his touchdown catches was a 24-yard halfback pass by junior Micah Rushing.

Rushing, who had nine catches for 119 yards, ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown, threw for a touchdown and caught a touchdown in the game."

Olinemom

It's so nice to hear such good things about Jason Lutz.  I watched him all through high school and wanted him to go to BC.  I had sat through many a losing season with a bunch of coaches that I won<t bother to discuss.  But then there came a very special coach.  I can remember a conversation with this football coach in the KCC.  When I told him that he had to look at Jake as our quarterback, he told me with a straight face that he was too slow to play college ball.  You know I think we must all be happy that he changed his mind.  I know I am!!! :) :) :) :) :)  It's good to have a quarterback built like a fullback who has the confidence to throw, run, just do what it takes to win.  It was a thrill a minute!!  Proud doesn't even come close when I think of how Jake blossomed here with the great coaching that we had then and still have now.  I may be prejudiced.  OK I am prejudiced, but I think we have great coaches at BC.   (Having said that, I think the GC coach should get the nod this year as COY)

And OUtsider, I think our O-Line should definitely be the OPOY, but then I'm sure you would have figured that out.

Skoal--a sidebar here--did you check your tailgate stuff to see if you had a sharp knife, a tablespoon, a teaspoon with a rose on the end and an off-set spatula?  I wonder what kind of brownies go well with the shrimp that's coming our way this weekend?  That'll take some thought.  I'm partial to the Triple chocolate Ghiradelli with Godiva liqueur myself.  Delilah does too.

Llamaguy--the green is growing on me, the pink is great, but the blue,I don't think so!!  Hope we have the Tailgate to beat all tailgates this weekend.!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Hey olinemom -

I agree with you on GC's Kiesel for COY.

Your tailgates sound a lot better than the stuff I take.  Let me know where you are next year if you come to the BC at Guilford game and I'll buy one of those brownies.  lol

PS I got a big laugh when you inadvertently answered a post as "basanova."  I've seen the dance, but probably couldn't do it if my life depended on it.   "hasanova," on the other hand, comes from my restored red '68 Chevy which was driven at Guilford for four years way back when.  Good luck to BC in the postseason.

pakownr97

Your last post reminded me one of my preseason posts.   I had read somewhere during the preseason that our Oline might be a weak spot this year!!!

Before the McDaniel game, I talked to Llamaguy about it.  He just smiled and said our Oline will be fine, don't worry.

After watching Marcus and Company run the ball like a knife through soft butter, I will also cast my vote for the BC Oline as OPOY.

Way to go guys!

One more game until the real season starts.

GO BC!

WOW...Thats a whole lot of talk about the ODAC player of the year award. As good as Marcus Washington is, I don't think I would chose him. For all of Kid's talk about Marcus contributing more all around to BC's offense than other players, take a look at Simpson and Bublavi both having a better average for all purpose yards. And I think the number of games a player participates in is valuable. I think Ricca, Bublavi, Simpson, Vogelbach and Barnette playing in all of their team games gives them a step up on Washington. I'll give the award to somebody besides Washington, and BC will have to be happy with winning the ODAC for the 5th time...and thats a lot more fun than having the POY.

Notarfrancesco didn't have a Young behind him, so he averaged a little more healthy 127 rushing ypg total compared to Washington's 93.4.

In response to the above comment, Notar was backed up by Dan Boyle who had 653 yards for an 8.6 average and 6 TDs. Boyle also rushed for 1533 and a 5.4 average with 14 TDs in 2000 when he was the number one back. So when CUA played Bridgewater in 99, Notar went for 233 while Boyle had 137 rushing. BC's backs haven't had a game like that this year. Maybe Washington and Young can put up similar numbers this week against Catholic, but they probably won't. Notar and Boyle each played in every game in 99, and their stats back up the fact that Notar was sharing time with another talented back, and still managed to put up numbers that were better than Washington's this year.

Looks like it's unanimous here on Post Patterns (when you take me out of the mix) ... Ricca deserves POTY over Washington.

Oh well, guess I'm just being a homer.  ;D
