having watched W&L's and H-SC's receivers, i wasn't impressed. the one kid for W&L took a screen against BC and scored from 20+ out. that's all i saw. h-sc's receivers didn't do much (i think one may have gone up and made a nice play on a deep ball)... again, i've only seen them against BC, so that's what my opinion is based on. i've seen awk & blake play, copeland may be as good as van williams was, and copeland has been described to me as a young Dre Jones... SO, based on what i've seen, i'd put BCs receivers first, then w&l, then h-sc... their stats may pale in comparison, but MAN if those 4 touched the ball as much as these other corps.......
sure that could be a homer take on the debate, but i've seen some players in my day......  8)

Like Bublavi, Stutz didn't play last year. You'd have to remember him from the year before.

That makes sense. :)

I was just looking back to those two games and didn't see his name in the box scores (McD / BC)

and since we're talking passing, i heard a relatively famous coach say recently "i've noticed something about college football... you can throw the ball 50 times a game and be successful, but MAN, you have GOT TO RUN THE FOOTBALL to win"

top passing offenses in the nation from the odac:

1. Catholic (2-7)
3. Hampden-Sydney (7-2)
4. Guilford (4-5)
23. W&L (6-3)

just thought i'd throw that out there

And then there is "lowly" Bridgewater ranked #106.

But then there is also:

5. Linfield (7-0)
10. Mount Union (8-1)
14. UW-Whitewater (9-0)
18. St. John's (9-0)

But luckily there are some good teams that "do it our way":

103. Trinity, Texas (8-0)
178. Mary Hardin-Baylor (7-1)
224. Augustana (8-1)

Sweet ... Washington is back to being #1 in the nation in scoring and kickoff returning. :)

But because his rushing stats "stink" (93.4 ypg, 7.2 yards a carry, 13 rushing TDs) and he tweaked his ankle, he can't be considered in the same breath as Ricca or Bublavi.

Umm, this doesn't bode well for BC:

5. #1 Linfield (7-0)
10. #5 Mount Union (8-1)
14. #2 UW-Whitewater (9-0)
106. Bridgewater (8-1)

This does:

103. #9 Trinity, Texas (8-0)
106. Bridgewater (8-1)
178. #4 Mary Hardin-Baylor (7-1)
224. #11 Augustana (8-1)

easy there kid...I'm not bashing your opinion on Murray, just having a discussion about how I disagree.

Yes, I'll be there.  And yes, I'll give my honest opinion of him after I see him play (for the third time).

And thank you Pat Coleman. Kid...if you looked at the boxscores and didn't see his name, then how could you claim this was your third time seeing him.

Matt Barnhart (kid)

Phew, this has become a workout with you!  :D  Thank goodness I have patience.

Check the time stamps on my two statements.  Then maybe it'll make sense.

#3190
kid & others - just checked out the top 35 teams in rushing ypg

overall record of those 35 teams is 211-95 (69%)
only 5 of those teams have losing records and MANY are playoff bound

it would be interesting to see a similar comparison (i don't have the time right now) of the top 35 passing teams and their records...i bet it's MUCH lower, just looking at the initial list

edit

ran the passing numbers and i was wrong - top 35 passing
overall record 207-99 (68%)
10 if those teams have losing records and MANY are playoff bound

interestingly, there are at least 2 teams in the top 35 in BOTH rushing and passing...muc and uww...maybe we should watch these teams and see if they have a chance to go to the stagg bowl...anyone ever heard of these teams? :)

additionally del valley & st. olaf are in the top 35 in both rushing and passing

I think everyone acknowledges that a team that's "all pass" and "no rush" is very unlikely to make the playoffs - or at least go very deep.  Sometimes, however, especially if you are in a rebuilding mode, the coaches are forced to go with their strengths until they can recruit and adapt to a better run/pass balance.  If a team passes 75% of the time, the opposing defenses will, in my opinion, be able to key on that.  If I'm an offensive coordinator, I'd want to make these defenses unsure, on almost every play, what I'm going to do.  And, if you pass 73 times in a game, I defy almost any QB to have fewer than 2-3 turnovers on interceptions.

Kid, I just noticed this.  BC's 'backup' RB, Winston Young, is averaging 11 more yards Total Offense a game than Washington.  Now, this it totally hypothetical, but if there was only 1 spot left on the 1st ODAC squad at RB, and it was down to Washington and Young, who do you think would fill the spot?

It would be black and white to me, one word: Seniority! Tie goes to the Senior. ;)

Well to me, the QB is playing with less talent because i played every offense this year except Catholic and it seem that Guilford is not as deep as other teams with playmakers.. Barnette, Rushing are playmakers, maybe Joyner sometimes but after that ? But you are right, the Guilford QB is real good, he would be my starter on my fantasy team.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but is endzoneking breaking rule number 1 of BC players and post patterns?
