Well to me, the QB is playing with less talent because i played every offense this year except Catholic and it seem that Guilford is not as deep as other teams with playmakers.. Barnette, Rushing are playmakers, maybe Joyner sometimes but after that ? But you are right, the Guilford QB is real good, he would be my starter on my fantasy team.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but is endzoneking breaking rule number 1 of BC players and post patterns?

That top part was written by enzoneking by the way.  just learned how to hit the quote button. :)

Thanks Hasanova, it was a late night and I noticed it too late to change it!  Yes I usually go to my guys' games.  I even went to Indiana this year.  You won't be able to buy a brownie but you could certainly have one or two or three-whatever! (I have to admit they are pretty good.  I make 14 pans of brownies of all kinds for them to munch on as they are watching film on Monday.  It's a nice tradition.  I like it and they do,too!)   Just don't make it so cold at the game as it was last year.  That wind about to kill me!!  Or if it's going to be that chilly, just tell the guys to close the dome and turn on the heat!  Tee hee!  To tell you the truth, I'm very leery of next year's encounter with GC.  That QB is something and as they build around him, it is going to be exciting to watch!!  Way too exciting for an Olinemom's prospective.  Unless it's her QB and her Oline on the field, that is!  It will behoove us to recruit very well this summer with all the seniors we are losing this year.

Go Eagles!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

know what, after reading the around the region by mr. cummings, i realized something. first, amen to the "Hopefully the committee will realize that McDaniel was a much better team in Week 1, before a rash of injuries, than they were in the following weeks. " comment. hit the nail on the head there....
and secondly, i wanna jump in this coach of the year debate real late (i took the bait... had to wait.... etc). my coach of the year vote goes to coach clark for not only 34 straight odac victories (or whatever it is) and 5 straight odac champs, but for also representing the staff that has continuously recruited players w/ the ability and self-lessness to bring about these accomplishments

I think everyone acknowledges that a team that's "all pass" and "no rush" is very unlikely to make the playoffs - or at least go very deep.  Sometimes, however, especially if you are in a rebuilding mode, the coaches are forced to go with their strengths until they can recruit and adapt to a better run/pass balance.  If a team passes 75% of the time, the opposing defenses will, in my opinion, be able to key on that.  If I'm an offensive coordinator, I'd want to make these defenses unsure, on almost every play, what I'm going to do.  And, if you pass 73 times in a game, I defy almost any QB to have fewer than 2-3 turnovers on interceptions.
I think you're right hasa.  We are rebuilding and are playing our strengths, which is passing.  However since it is obvious we are going to pass why hasn't anyone stopped it?  The 2-3 turnovers happen, but thats were D comes in to play, and that is one of our weaker points this year.  Remember Defense Wins Championships!!!!!!!

GCOL,

Teams have stopped your passing attack and I think it is unfair to blame the defense for the losses. If you turn the ball over on offense 2-3 times a game that means the other team is stopping your offense. That also means you are putting the defense in a difficult siutation, which sometimes the defense cannot prevent the offense from scoring. By passing the ball all the time it keeps the opponents defense fresh because there are rarely long drives on offense. That is why it is important to run the ball. To eat up the clock, control the game, and wear down your opponent. Oh, running the ball also helps set up the pass. Yes, it is the defenses job to bail out the offense when a turnover happens, but 2-3 times a game is asking a whole lot from any defense.

I'm a new poster, just wanted to see I've played all the ODAC teams so far (except H-SC) and wanted to say that no matter what the records are, all the teams are looking up.  BC not only has athletes, they are a tough football team.  W&L, for only having so few football players, is a great team that beat us up physically and mentally.  CUA is a good team, and hung tough against us.  They came back, and that shows alot for their character.  GC is a damn good team, just needs to work on their defense and they'll be right in the hunt next year.  And E&H, a good team, Coach Montgomery just needs to weed out the bad influencess.  It may take a few years, but they will be very good, as they have promising talent.

Just wondering what people's perceptions on R-MC and their football program were.

I accidentally hit the post button after quoting Yellow Jacket without making any comment ... sorry 'bout that.  Anyway, I just wanted to say I've been to every game the Jackets have played this year and I must say that overall the improvement has been remarkable over the course of the season.  We hit a speed bump last weekend at Bridgewater, but the Eagles have been a speed bump for everybody else in the league so although the Yellowjackets got beat, they didn't just roll over and play dead and continuously played hard the entire game and kept trying to put points on the board and prevent additional points from being scored against them.  If the bulk of this year's young team stays together I see good things happening in the next couple of years.  It will be tough to see some of the seniors go after the season is over though ... they've provided a touch of stability to a very young team and should be proud of their efforts this year.  One other thing ... BEAT THE TIGERS!!!!

BmoreBC,
If you call giving up 350+ passing yards stopping our passing attack, then yes.  also having a QB with just under 60% completion rating then yes.  18 int's on 414 passing attempts is still a pretty good passing game.  Thats about 4.3% of his passing being picked.

Trenches

Bmore BC,
Who has stopped GC's passing attack? Ferrum would be the closest game. But that was also the first game that this team ever really played together. New offense, new coaches, bunch of new players... It takes time to figure out what kind of team you are. And as you can see, once they did, not much has been done to stop them.

GCOL

Oh and im not blaming our D for our losses.  I'm just saying it is ONE of our weaker points.

GCOL

One more thing.

Scoring             GC     Opp.

                         294    352

Points/game     32.7   39.1

You can't say scoring 33 points per game isn't good, but not good enough when you give up 40.

GCOL, Trenches and other Quakers -

Good luck Saturday vs. E&H.  Finishing 5-5 would be huge, but don't underestimate the Wasps.  They've got good coaching and good athletes - they want to win their last game, too!  I can tell you, there are a lot of Guilford alumni who have followed your great progress this year and are rooting for you.  Go Quakers!

Olinemom - Make sure you bring those brownies to Greensboro next year.  I will be by to grab a few!  lol  I agree - next year's game might be a true test for both teams.  If will be interesting to see if GC can toughen their defense and bring everyone back on offense.  Historically, Guilford students and fans can be a bit complacent at times, but winning, especially with a high-powered offense, sometimes brings folks out.  Hopefully, the stadium renovations (and the new retractable roof lol) will be ready as planned by the time the season starts and GC will be ready for an influx of Eagle-boosters with an enthusiastic crowd of their own!  Go Quakers!
