Of course you think Bridgewater will be scarier next year after losing 16 of 22 starters. Nobody would expect you to think anything else.

Ahhh, I love it!  :D

Anything I say (that involves Bridgewater) will sound 'homerish' to you ... when I said we'd be back again in 2005 after the 2004 season (even after losing 7 or 8 starters), I bet I sounded like a homer then too.  Oh well, I don't care ... I was right!

I'm just saying that this upcoming off-season will be exciting for everyone (well, everyone but H-SC).  Everyone will say/think they have a shot, especially CUA and GC after their surprising offensive resurgences this year.  And add to that Bridgewater losing 16 of 22 starters.  But I'm just doing my seemingly fan biased part in informing you that we have 2nd string guys who are more than able/ready to start (again, aside from TE and FS).

Fact is, we gave up 326 passing yards to H-SC.  We won.  We gave up 380 passing yards to Guilford.  We won.  We gave up 422 passing yards to Catholic.  We won.

Meaning, we allowed our pass-happy opponents to get what they wanted, when they wanted, and we still won.  Next year looks to be no different.

Here, do this for me ... other than TE and FS (where we lose Hulsebus/Pierre and Herndon/McQueen) ... tell me what positions Bridgewater will be hurting at next year?  Where do we have a guy graduating where we don't have another player equally as good to step in and produce?  With guys at CUA, GC, H-SC, and W&L putting up impressive numbers, it's easy to lose track of the depth the Eagles have.

But sorry, didn't mean to discourage the excitement of the notion of Bridgewater losing a conference game in near future.  Us BC fans have enjoyed quite a run in the ODAC (and playoffs) ... we are fully aware that all good things come to an end.

I just don't think me saying our sophomore class is the best all-around class we've ever had makes me a homer.  I'm making that statement by comparing that class to our other classes ... not other ODAC school's classes.  And because I think we are extremely talented in that class, then there is no reason for me to pick another school to take us over in the next two years.

I see a trend in your prognostication...

[Guilford] will be able to put talented newcomers on the defensive side of the ball to increase their athleticism over there.

As long as W&L replaces Tweardy, I think they will be where they were this year.

Catholic will continue to improve with Tom Clark bringing in another good class of players.

Unless Marty finds an absolute stud somewhere to replace JD, then they are in trouble.

For the four schools you say will contend with Bridgewater next year, you use a good bit of "what if" language.

In my argument, I'm not saying any what ifs ... we already have what we need ... long term it would kill us not to have a good recruiting off-season, but we could fill a two-deep with what we currently have and still be scary next year.

With the amount of playing time BC's second stringers get, losing all those "starters" isn't nearly as damaging as it would be for some teams.

Of course I use "what if" language. Everything is "if" until the games are played. You are using "what if" language when you state that BC's sophomore class might be their best. It hasn't happened yet and is definitely an "if." And remember I said that I put Bridgewater as the front runner again next year. I'm not expecting any teams to completely destroy BC, but myself and other people see things getting closer.

Ugh ... you know what I meant (I hope) ...

Like, "...if Catholic can get some newcomers for the defensive side of the ball..."  Obviously, Catholic doesn't have those players you are saying they will need.  I'm saying Bridgewater already has all of its needs (for next year).  No freshman we recruit this offseason will find his way into the starting lineup in 2006 (unless his name is Jermaine Taylor).

Skoal,

Don't want you to be disappointed, so I'll make sure I give Religion Major your number.

If you do, I'll beat you senseless!!!

You know 411 works very well for that. ;D  You know I never said that I was definately coming up to BW3's.  I'll be sure to pay you a visit Saturday morning though.

Also something to remember is that Kiesel wasn't able to recruit until March(when he was hired)... and he still got some major talent. And that was recruiting for a 1-9 team he had no part in. Now that he has a full year and is recruiting for a 5-5 (4-2, 2nd in conf) team that returns a hell of a lot of talent. If he focuses on the D, run game, and O-line (graduating 3 starters)... It could be really interesting to see what GC will do next year.

Rugby Guy

Skoal,

Learn to count.  Four games.

Be nice, or that number we discussed earlier will get posted.

Yes, it should be interesting.  Have you heard any rumors about where Kiesel's looking?  I saw a bunch of HS Seniors there for the E&H games.  The Hayesville crew brought a carload with them as well.  If this keeps up, we may have to rename the Quakers the (Hayesville) Yellowjackets.  lol

BLUF- A "W" is a  "W" no matter who did what. It's hard to argue with Kid's point. I'll take the moral victory when GC loses to Carson Newman by a field goal but otherwise...........no such animal

Leave Skoal alone. he is building up the brain cells he plans to kill in about 48 hours.
