I'm definitely disappointed he is leaving, but not surprised.

Good luck to Coach Colbert and St. Vincent in 2007!

Now on to looking for a new offensive coordinator.  Hire from within?  Coach Soltis perhaps?

Clark could go two routes in this decision

Clark will pick Soltis but since he sat up in the box with colbert... he is probably the logical choice.

or

Coach clark might change the offense completely because our strong points next year will be in the wide receivers (Copeland, Warring, Oakes, B. Jones, Cox) and Runningbacks (Winston, Rocket, injured freshman). Also, we have a mobile QB that seems to do good from the gun position.

With the evolution of the "live by the pass conference", we might see the offense change to the run and shoot.. to get the receivers the ball more because all that i listed have big play capability.... just look at copeland at the wesley game... all our receivers has the ability to do that we just need to feed them a little more.

With this spread offense they could spread the defense out and let the runningbacks work. Imagine winston or rocket  running the ball  with 5 or 6 in the box. Both runners had a great season with eight defenders being in the box.

And with highfill at Qb, he is a hardnose kid that can run the option and pass.. so this offense would be perfect and C. Boyd ran this offense in high school where he put up good numbers...

I'm going to miss Colbert..He is a true genius of the game!!!!!!

I hate to say it, but I think we are going to miss Coach Colbert more than any of us know.

Coach, if you read this board, good luck from all of us at BC, and THANK YOU for your contributions to the Bridgewater program.

When will the first BC/St Vincent game be scheduled?
:)
GO BC!

When will the first BC/St Vincent game be scheduled?

Well, how about fall '08...the BC team will find the +1,200 mile roundtrip to LaGrange, GA easy to write off...the  576 roundtrip miles to Latrobe, PA sure looks nice for a home-and-home adventure in '08 & '09...it wold be special to welcome Bob back one sunny fall afternoon...

Jeremybozz

Good luck to Bob and St. Vincent. Thanks for the hard work at BC and enjoy being with your brother and Brett again.

This appears to be the biggest shakeup BC has had in their organizational structure in quite some time. Since BC began having their success, have there been any other major coaching changes, or is this the first one.

Coach Robinson (Defensive Coordinator) leaving after the 2002 season.

I believe he was architect of the blitz-happy Bridgewater defense in '00, '01 and '02.

Other than that, we've had various position coaches come and go.

Amen!

Dang, I stay away from the board for a day and chaos breaks loose at BC!

I quoted this from the press release...BC folks should take a great deal of pride in this...considering where the program was...it was the first thing that stood out to me.

"I am delighted to announce that Bob Colbert has enthusiastically accepted the challenge of building our new football program," St. Vincent president James F. Will said. "Bob's extensive experience with successful programs including eight years at Division III standout Bridgewater College, has prepared him to create a program that will bring success to our students both on the field and in the classroom."

Part of success is passing the elements of that success through the coaching ranks.  Be worried because you are losing a good coach, be happy that your program has garnered the title "Division III standout," be excited about the coaches that would love to coach for a D3 standout program hoping for success and their own head job some day...

Ralph Turner

The coaching field has abundant examples of coaches wanting to go thru a specific program.  The teams/coaches that come to mind include Miami Ohio, Alabama's Bear Bryant, Arkansas' Frank Broyles, OU's Bud Wilkinson at the D1 level among others.

MUC fans are quick to point out the Larry Kehres connection all over D3.

If BC truly has an outstanding program, then you will have very talented men (and women where appropriate) wanting to come to get that BC stamp on their resume. ;)

No brainer here, Soltis is  "THE MAN"! He has been beside Coach Clark from the beginning, minus a GA year at JMU. He has sat beside Coach C and while there, learned from one of the best in the business. Next question is who will coach our up-and-coming receiving corp? Sure would be an easy job to step into. ;)

Hey Kid, you and I are at practice enough. How about we ask Coach if we can split that position? ;D

Quick question for the post pattern nation.......(like the ESPN question on the 11pm sportscenter)  ???

How long will it take for Colbert to turn St. Vincent into a playoff team?

I think it will take him 4 years...
