i just tried to pronounce it out loud, failed, and moved on... reading post patterns is like taking the SATs; if you don't know what they're talking about you skip it, know you're not missing anything, and move on
Interesting.  I didn't have to do that when I took the SAT, but I'll take your word for it.  Only kidding!  Good luck at Pitt.

Now I'm pretty sure that you only saw Catholic/Bridgewater kid, so you are just assuming what happened based on stats.

True.

The BC game was the only one were Catholic was playing against backups. Catholic was scoring against Guilford's top D and HSC's.

Even so, you know very well what teams usually do when up by 21 or more.  They play back and try and just keep the opposing offense in front of them.  They simply start playing against the clock.

[...] Catholic would have been a lot better, if they could have controlled their turnovers.

Shoot, that goes for any team.

Kid - I went to bridgewaterfootball.com this week to look around.  Nice job!  I'll have to say it's better than some DI sites I've seen.  I wish all the ODAC football schools would do something similar.  Keep up the good work!

i'm here on campus starting on my PDP portfolio and Seminar project  so you can call me at my room number :D
So sorry This is the first time I have been on since Christmas Eve.  I was soooooo sick during the Christmas vacation.  I stayed at home and let my Mom take care of me.  But there should be some good brownies tomorrow at the girls' basketball game if you are going to be there.  I am out of peanut butter  :( and it's way too  late to go to the store(3:55 am) to be specific, but there will be brownies.

I remember ennui from my 11th grade vocab. I wonder if other readers of post patterns decided to grab a dictionary, or just assumed you were drunk when posting.

Well, there is actually a walking French dictionary finally back to reading the posts who could have informed those who didn't know, but luckily the knowledge wasn;t needed.  I wish I were bored, but this "wonderful" Interterm (NOT) HAS KEPT ME UP 3 DAYS OUT OF 4 TIL 4am.  I'm enjoying my class full of football and baseball players, but I'm tired!!

Congrats to you, Coach Colbert.  I appreciate all that you have accomplished here at BC and I know that you will take St. Vincent's to the top.  The PAC had better watch out.  Please tell me you are taking "22 sky" with you!  That play scares me to death.  But as Bmore BC metioned, I remember that touchdown against W&L and you were already half way to the gym, or that's the way I remember it.  (Your prowess at offense had preceded you at BC as I went all the way through school with DAvid Crist, father of Brian who was with you up at UMass before he went south to Louisiana.  David was a year ahead of me and Faye, his wife, was in my class).  It's been a great 8 years.  And more importantly than the football, although that is important, I apreciate what you have done as a role model for our young men as they advance through our program.  Coaches make such a difference in areas off the playing field and you should be recognized for that dimension as well.  It is sometimes very difficult, and never very easy, with the age just between adolescents and adults but the guidance then is absolutely vital to their success as human beings.  Well done, Coach Bob.  I WILL MISS YOU VERY MUCH!!   I've enjoyed being O-LInemom with you in charge of the Offenive Line.  Thanks!

Actually, I assumed it was a French cyclist in the Tour de France...then I remembered my classes with Dr. Andes at BC, and all was well...

3,7,3,7,20      Those were the point differentials in Catholic's 5 ODAC losses. If Ricca learns to make smarter decisions with some of his throws, and decreases his interceptions from the 23 they were this past year, than things could be very scary and Ricca could be very good.

Let's look at the five losses by only 3, 7, 3, 7, 20, more closely:

  • 3-point loss to W&L -- CUA had a 17-3 lead in the 3rd quarter
  • 7-point loss to H-SC -- H-SC was up 28-7 (21 pts) in the 4th quarter
  • 3-point loss to E&H -- CUA had a 21-10 lead in the 4th quarter
  • 7-point loss to GC -- GC was up 49-28 (21 pts) in the 4th quarter
  • 20-point loss to BC -- BC was up 44-16 (28 pts) in the 4th quarter

It's not like Catholic kept it close in those five games and just made a couple mistakes to lose them ... they either had a healthy lead that they blew or they were getting it handed to them and got some freebie TDs in the closing quarter likely versus 2nd and 3rd teamers.

i know i'm playin catch up here, but it's a busy recruiting weekend... hate to burst your statistical bubble, cause you live off of stats, but 3,7,3,7 still means catholic was one successful possession away from tying/winning 4 games.

Hey, you're right about that!  You also have my congratulations for being admitted to W&M - a very good school.  I don't think I had any sporting event the night before the SAT, but I grew up on a farm down in Patrick Co. and I distinctly remember my Dad made me help do the milking that morning until I barely had time to get to the test site.  My Dad was a no nonsense kind of guy, rest his soul, and I don't think he'd ever heard of ennui either.  lol

Of course they do, but there are times when playing againt the clock doesn't work. You are looking too much into when a team scores. That doesn't matter much in most cases. If the game was back and forth, with each team scoring after the other, the result would have been the same...a close game that wasn't decided in the 3rd quarter, but not until the last play.

Of course thats true...my point here though is that Catholic had a much larger problem with turnovers than other programs. Compare 41 by Catholic with 20 by BC, 23 by W&L, and 27 by HSC.  With a team that was 2nd in the conference in total offense, Catholic should have fared better than 1-5. I am laying blame for Catholic's poor performance last year on the turnovers.

And my goodness, how many players is that per team? Is there some bizarre rule I missed where you can have more than 11 players on the field at once now??

Nick Bublavi deservedly was named first team for wide receiver and associated press.
Don't worry Pat...everybody knows d3football.com does a better job than Don Hansen covering divsion III football.
