[...] Catholic would have been a lot better, if they could have controlled their turnovers
Shoot, that goes for any team.
Of course thats true...my point here though is that Catholic had a much larger problem with turnovers than other programs. Compare 41 by Catholic with 20 by BC, 23 by W&L, and 27 by HSC.  With a team that was 2nd in the conference in total offense, Catholic should have fared better than 1-5. I am laying blame for Catholic's poor performance last year on the turnovers.

I think Catholic's main issue at not being able to win games is not being able to run the football. That might be why big leads were lost, and why teams were able to create big leads early in games, because of no ball control. That is probably a reason there turnovers were high as well. Young QB in a pass-happy offense. One of the main reasons BC is able to plug a QB in and not miss a beat is the ability to run the football.

Does anyone close to the football program at Guilford know how Kiesel and his staff are doing with recruiting and/or transfers for the 2006 season?  My guess is they're looking to shore up the Defense and establish a better running game.  Maybe Kiesel wants to pass 50+ times every game, but even that would be more effective if the Quakers could get 75 yards or more on the ground most games.  I also think the Quakers will graduate three on the OL this spring.  Any information?

Awkard enjoyed his 2 career games in that stadium. What a great move to fake out those 2 Tiger DB's and score the game winning TD.

I read it this morning.  It was pretty standard...

[This person] left, [this person] is taking their place.  The AD said [this].  [The new hire] is excited about the opportunity.

Nothing real juicy.

I haven't checked the board for a while and am still stoked to see one of my favorite words, "ennui," referenced.

Ever heard it used in a song...Frank Sinatra popularized a song with "ennui" used...I was uber-impressed...of course, he didn't write it, but it still sticks out in my mind.

Now if anyone can use "sangfroid" in a song, I'll be bowled over...

Maybe in a limerick:

There once was a grid fan named Billow
Who rhymed in the shade of a willow
He said as a rule
My blood runs so cool
Sangfroid lives on the back of my pillow.

Go Quakers!  lol

Wasn't Sangfroid the guy who wrote about young boys wanting to have sex with their mothers?

Yeah, I think you're right.  A lot of people don't know this, but Sangfroid's first cousin, Sigmund Freud, was a tight end at Catholic when a guy named Oedipus was QB back in the 1920's.  The priest coaching the Cardinals thought the QB was making too many passes at Freud, so he told him to do a couple of Hail Mary's and a crossing pattern instead.

I think Sangfroid was a character in a '70s-'80s sit com...a guy who collected / resold junk...noted for his fear of "The Big One" heart attack...don't ya remember?...Sangroid & Sons

Funny, I thought he and his partner did a wild animal act in Las Vegas.  Maybe you've heard of them:  Sangfroid and Roy?  Fans of the Hampden-Sydney Tigers too, I think.  Go figure.

Hasanova,
I've got to say, you've definitely brought a unique flare to the off-season discussions :)  You should have brought some of this into the Ricca-Washington saga earlier this season!
