This is off topic, but I couldn't help myself from wanting to post that the Georgia Lottery commercials suggest one idea is you can buy a llama farm with your winnings.

I know there is is poster on the boards llamaguy and I think it must be his ad on the Bridgewater site.  So llama farming may come to Georgia if more people hit the Fantasy Five contest.

So does the conference like this: Bridgewater, W&L, HSC, Guilford, Catholic,RMC, E&H with maybe HSC, Guilford and Catholic fighting for #3 or does W&L, HSC, Guilford and Catholic all fight it out for the #2 & #3 spots? Does anyone other than Bridgewater have a chance to win the conference ?

Good to see that Mike Allen was able to select a Head Coach in a reasonable amount of time at Catholic. I don't know anything about Dunn, but the bio from the press release looks interesting. He doesn't seem to have any ties to the ODAC, and just one season at a D3 startup. However he has a strength and conditioning background at Harvard, which is always good to see. The fact that he has coached in the Ivy League and with I-AA Florida Atlantic shows that he has some decent experience, and should have a broad base of contacts for recruiting. I think it is important for any team that wants to bring in top talent to have somebody who can recruit in FL.
It looks like Becker had a pass heavy offense, but I don't know if that is because they were a first year program, or if that is Dunn's style. Hopefully Dunn will rely on his assistants for help shaping the offense and defense to what he wants to see, instead of coming in and trying to change everything up right away. I know there was a problem with Coach Ambrose changing the offense to fit his system, and him not adapting to the players that were already in place from Clark's first tenure.
Welcome to Catholic Coach Dunn, and good luck to you and the rest of the Cardinals this offseason.

In response to Tigersfanalso...I think you are right that BC and W&L are the two at the top. BC lost a lot, but also returns a lot more than most teams. W&L's offense broke out this past year, and despite having to break in a new QB, return all of the rest of their skill players. Their defense is always good too.
I think HSC has lost a lot, and I will be surprised if they finish 3rd or better. I think they will be just an average team next year. I think Guilford or Catholic will step up into 3rd, with a nod to Guilford for that spot. They both return a lot but need to build a more well rounded offense and a better defense. However, GC should have the advantage with Kiesel in his 2nd year, and Catholic with a new coach. E&H and RMC are both young programs right now, but I think Montgomery will have the Wasps rising next year. RMC will be better again, but despite Coach Arruza's dedicated recruiting, I wasn't sold on what I saw on the field last year. I think RMC finds itself on the bottom of the conference again. Overall I think the conference will improve. With 4 of the 7 teams in the ODAC switching up coaches in the last 3 years, I think there have been a lot of young teams in the ODAC, who will be much improved in the next couple of years. I look for the conference to improve its out of conference record a lot in the beginning of the year.

One more post before getting back to work. With schools getting back into session during the past few weeks, I wonder if there is information about players who might not have made it back this semester?
I remember Montgomery supposedly has some differences with Woods and some other players last season. Did he lose any guys from E&H.(WHERE HAVE THE WASP POSTERS GONE?)
Did RMC, Guilford, and Catholic lose a lot of guys from their large freshman classes?
And I haven't heard about any breakins, so I assume BC hasn't lost anybody important.

Har har. :)

Any offseason happenings at Bridgewater will be posted on my new blog (also linked off BridgewaterFootball.com).  I'll be out at spring practice in April, so that will be a good opportunity to really see who will be back.

I encourage fans from other ODAC schools to start a blog for their teams.

Thanks for your response. Seems that you have a pretty good handle on the ODAC. I'll be surprised if W&L finishes 2nd again; for some reason I see them slipping in 06 with GC maybe replacing them in that position. I think the QB at GC is going to be unstoppable in 06 if they can find receivers for him to throw to and I see Catholic being a really good contender in 07 with Ricca heading into his Jr. year. The ODAC should be a great conference in 07 with the winner losing two conference games, maybe. HSC will be improved in 07, Bridgewater will be strong as always, followed by GC, W&L and Catholic. Hell if E&H can come to the table it could really be a dog fight. I don't want to get too far ahead but I can't wait for the 07 season !!!

looking at that ring makes me realize that the '05 season broke my streak of 4 consecutive years of being a member of a conference championship team. damn.

WLU78,

I noticed earlier that your son was still looking at colleges to play football at.  Any decision yet?

I really think if we (BC) don't take care of business then W&L could get past us this year. Guilford and Catholic could do great damage.  If HS can replace Norton's son then they look pretty good too.  There's better parity coming, which does not make me very comfortable.  It will depend on who wants it the most and whose team can put together 2 solids halfs of football.  What say you religion major, llamaguy, skoaltrain, rugbyguy?  Talk to me hasanova, GCOL?  Tell me you guys aren't just watching basketball and not thinking about football?

Oh no far from it, Spring practice begins in just over 2 months! ;D

As for the BC forecast for 2006:
I see Guilford as the most likely to hang with BC in 2006 with Catholic a close second if they are still above .500 when we meet at the end of the season. HSC,W&L,and E&H all travel to Jopson and home field means too much for them to overcome. The road games will seal the fate of BC in 2006. Should be a dogfight for second though! ;)

I am not exactly ready to start drinking that GC kool-aid just yet. They got to get a couple college football players on Defense. Some of those FR will be sophomores next year. Perhaps......but they gotta stop somebody. Score 45 and still lose. That is tough. Maybe one guy to stretch the field too so people don't gang up 20 yds down field. Vogelbach breaks every record they ever had and still lose 5. Nobidy will be sleeping on them next year either

Still looking.  He is coming around to accepting DIII as a viable alternative to not playing at "The Swamp ":)  If only he were three inches taller!! ::)

He is visiting Sewanee today for his first visit.  He has three more lined up through Feb and early March.  All of the coaches that have spoken with me are great guys, and I think have his best interest at heart.  But then I have tried to push him toward DIII all along.  I just think he will have a much more valuable degree and better overall experience than DII or D1-AA (unless the Ivy League schools called).

Thanks for asking, and I will try to keep you up to date on the musings of the eighteen year old mind during the recruiting process, or at least as much as he is willing to share with his dad.

BTW if he goes to an ODAC school I will have to cheer against my Generals when he plays them.  That will be weird, and especially now that they are considered to be contenders judging from the recent posts.
