Wright Hall 220: I thought BC had an athletic trainer at the Hula Bowl for the East team? How did they enjoy Hawaii if that is indeed the case.

Congrats to Llamaguy for making #95 on Keith's top 105 for the year in review!  Here it is if you haven't read the entire 105 for 2005.

95. Remember the tailgates: No way we could do justice to naming the best crowd, best fan, best tailgate without planning it and taking notes during the season. So consider yourself warned for next year. Spoil the D3football.com staff (essentially unpaid) in '06 and there could be some postseason recognition in it for you! In the meantime, here's our favorite fan from 2005:

Pat Cummings recognized Llamaguy from the ODAC boards for being a superb fan and representation of the Division III spirit. A Bridgewater rooter, Llamaguy took "Stone Station" on the road, offering barbeque and the like to fans from both Mount Union and UW-Whitewater at the Stagg Bowl. Cummings said he "refused money when Mount/UWW fans tried to give it to him ... it was truly a welcoming moment."

Llamaguy

Thanks Skoal but you know it ain't no one man/gal show. You my brother are the silent partner in this case but I for one know who the founder, CEO, and President of Stone Station is. ;) And yes that same person is also the champion drinker at the Station.  :o Soooooo... who is the "Most Well-Rounded" Tailgater in D-III? Yes that would be Skoalllllllllll...Trainnnnnnnnnn! And thanks to Olinemom for the sweets. That was definitely a Stone Station award, not a Llamaguy award.

Now, when is the next tailgate? I can't wait!

Abrnrgr,
I hear ya about Guilford. I was only refering to who may have a shot at BC in one game next year. No predictions for the rest of the ODAC. I just see Guilford being way up for the Eagles when they fly into Greensboro next October. ;)

They had 6 athletic trainers and Chris and Barbara H. Long (my twin) there.  It was such a great opportunity for them.  I know they had a great time.  After all 2 of the girls missed the whole last week of my wonderful dynamic (NOT) Interterm course. He He!  But I got to see them on TV.  It was pretty cool!!  I think my twin had a connection with somebody.

Chessdoc.
Catholic's football program is going through yet another transition period, as they move to their 5th different coaching situation, 4th head coach, since 2000. Dave Dunn is the new head coach, and seems to be fairly successful with what he has done. He has coached at many different levels in several different types of situations. The team is young, with just 3 rising seniors this year, but a lot of talent in their rising sophomore and junior classes. Their offense is explosive, but looking for more balance with a better running game. The defense is aggressive, but there is not a lot of depth on that side of the ball.
The team is likely to improve in 2006 after making a lot of progress in 2005. Catholic only lost one conference game by more than a touchdown last year, so expect more wins in the future.
A Fieldturf field is being installed this spring, and more improvements to the athletics facility are planned in the near future.
The academics at Catholic will likely depend on what area of study you are looking at. The academics are good, but not on an Ivy League level like the administration at the University might try to convince you of. Catholic's location in Washington DC is a huge advantage for its students, as it provides them with a wealth of career opportunities in whatever profession they want to pursue.
I'm a strong supporter of Catholic University, and gave you an honest assessment of the current situation. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

So does the conference like this: Bridgewater, W&L, HSC, Guilford, Catholic,RMC, E&H with maybe HSC, Guilford and Catholic fighting for #3 or does W&L, HSC, Guilford and Catholic all fight it out for the #2 & #3 spots? Does anyone other than Bridgewater have a chance to win the conference ?

I really think if we (BC) don't take care of business then W&L could get past us this year. Guilford and Catholic could do great damage.  If HS can replace Norton's son then they look pretty good too.  There's better parity coming, which does not make me very comfortable.  It will depend on who wants it the most and whose team can put together 2 solids halfs of football.  What say you religion major, llamaguy, skoaltrain, rugbyguy?  Talk to me hasanova, GCOL?  Tell me you guys aren't just watching basketball and not thinking about football?
As far as I know, Vogelbach and the receivers (Barnette, Rushing, Joyner, Vaughn) will all be back in 2006.  It took about four games for everyone to click last year, so they may be even more potent this season.  The team lost three OL starters to graduation, so that is a question mark and the running attack needs to step up a bit so the opposing Defense won't always be able to key on the Receivers as they did in 2005.  There were a couple of guys that did reasonable well as Freshmen/Transfers (Ledford, Hill) in 2005, so maybe they'll be able to pick it up with a year of college experience.  Now, the big question mark is the Quaker Defense.  I saw them improving as the season went along and there are some players who took their lumps the past two years as Freshmen and Sophomores who will be upperclassmen in 2006.  I know this sounds silly, but Guilford will win a lot of games if they can just shave 10 points off the high numbers they surrendered a year ago - and that's possible.  The kicking game is very solid with Travis Frazier.  Coach Kiesel now has a year under his belt at Guilford, so I think that'll help in spring practice and recruiting.  There is a network of sorts going on where players, parents and alumni are helping with the recruiting.  Things look brighter for the next few years, so I think that will help bring in some new faces.  I would expect Kiesel to have some Pennsylvanians on the team next year and there are at least four players from one HS (Hayesville) in western NC.  Their fans are rabid and make the eight hour driving time round trip for EVERY game.  The Quakers got enough notoriety last season that they definitely won't catch anyone sleeping this year, but I'd like to think they can improve a few games on last season's 5-5, 4-2 finish.   Go Quakers!

tigerfanalso

I think you hit the nail on the head about GC in 06, they will not catch anyone sleeping. They will get the best from every team in the ODAC which will make a repeat of 05 very difficult for GC, they can do it, but they will need to play much better than last year to improve on their 5-5 record. In conference they should beat E&H and RMC; every other game they'll probably be the underdog, but with a chance to win. I hope GC takes their program to another level as the ODAC needs a more competitive conference. Good luck next year !!!!

Thanks.  Historically, Guilford does not have a stellar football tradition, so it's great to see so much enthusiasm and high expectations.  Sure, there has been the occasional 8-2 or 7-3 record, but never a sustained winning presence.  I'm not sure if it's still true (although I bet it is), but in the mid-80's the school said something about that year's senior class being the only class in the school's 100+ year football history to have a winning record all four years.  Not the stuff of legends - well, maybe a legend, but not the kind you want to remember.  lol

By the way, for all Quaker fans and fans of visiting teams, I drove by Armfield Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon when I attended the RMC/GC basketball game and the exterior wall has been razed.  The promised renovation of the football stadium and press box has begun!
