They are most def. true even if on a small scale that drug abuse is a problem at W&L.

Matt Barnhart (kid)

For the record ... drug abuse also occurs on the campuses of Bridgewater, Catholic, Emory & Henry, Guilford, Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon.

hasanova: You are right. It was the L. A. Rams - who were the Cleveland Rams before leaving town for L. A. after the end of the 1945 season, which happened to be a championship one for the Rams. The Browns over the Rams in 1950, the Browns first season in the NFL - sweet vengeance for the Cleveland fans.

And for the trivia fans out there, who did the Cleveland Rams beat in the 1945 Championship game and what old and now changed rule gave them the win?
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

On a completely different subject...

Just got back from a trip to Disneyworld with the family.  If you make it down there, be sure to check out the new/fairly new "Soarin'" ride in Epcot and the new "Everest" ride in the Animal Kingdom...two sure fire winners!

bwana: They beat the Redskins, 15-14. Sammy Baugh's forward pass from the Redskin's end zone hit the goal posts, which at that date were located on the goal line, scoring a safety for the Rams.

Hey Wright, nice save with the edit.  Make slanderous comments about the W&L students and drug abuse and then get cold feet and edit it away.  Way to go!!!

Kid-
True enough...but you spend two days driving through thunderstorms and snow with three kids yelling in your ear while enduring repeated viewings of the immortal trilogy of "Toy Story", "Toy Story 2", and "Robots", and you too will find your thought processes somewhat jumbled!  ;)

We have a winner!  The way I read it was that Baugh's pass from the endzone hit the goal posts and fell back into the endzone, hence the safety.  Had the ball gone out of bounds on the fly, then the pass would have been incomplete.

Of course, Karma does kick in...years later Redskins WR Charlie Taylor made an art form out of using the goal posts to pick off DB and get open.

Receivers used to grab the goal post with one hand as they passed it going into the endzone, hang on and swing around it to its other side, thereby facing toward the field of play or the sideline with a quicker change of direction than they could achieve without assistance from the post.

That's an advantage, but I am sure there were some concussions over the years.  Combine two posts (not just one as it is today) on the goal line, 1940's era helmets/pads and a focused receiver running a "post pattern" and you have a recipe for a headache!  lol

Hug

bwana,

the family and I went over X-mas. Soarin was awesome, But Everest wasn't open yet.  How does Everest compare to the  Rockin' Roller Coaster.

P.S. next time fly, and stay on property, you won't regret it.

Did "Hug" really post during the off-season?  :o
