Ostensibly for safety reasons, in 1966 the NFL rules were changed from the cross bar and the posts being directly above the goal line to the cross bar being directly above but with the uprights being offset so that they were, as I recall, about 4' in the end zone behind the vertical plane going through the goal line.

Yeah, I remember that.  If I was an offensive coordinator, I would design plays to use the posts as part of the offensive pattern.

I remember the change, but didn't know what year.  Also, when did they move the goal posts to the back of the end zone?  That change was not only safer, but obviously permanently affected on-field strategy by adding ten yards to every field goal and extra point attempt.

bwana,

the family and I went over X-mas. Soarin was awesome, But Everest wasn't open yet.  How does Everest compare to the  Rockin' Roller Coaster.

P.S. next time fly, and stay on property, you won't regret it.

Or better yet, take a day to go to Tampa Bay Busch Gardens! I went last week and they have a new coaster called Sheekra. It is a drop coaster only 3 in the world and it is the highest at 200 feet. The ride up pins you back in the seat like a rocket launch. Once at the top it takes you to the edge of the 200ft 90degree drop and stops holding you looking staight down for about 10 seconds, then it cuts you loose. Then its a mere 3 or 4 loops, another 100ft 90 degree drop through a tunnel and finally a quick splash through a pool at the end. It is quite a ride. Not to mention the AB beer on site is quite tasty. ;)

Llama,
Did you by chance get a Mel's Hot Dog beside the Gardens?  Mel's an icon in Tampa.

If anyone wants to see what Guilford's new Press Box at Armfield Athletic Center will be for next season, go to:

www.guilford.edu then follow the links to athletics/football and click on the link about the press box at the bottom of the page.  It will be a wonderful improvement!

SkoalTrain---Read your post thought I would say HELLO!
I have been checking the board on a regular basis and have not seen any mention of the academic honors nine ODAC players received in the post season. ESPN THE MAGAZINE named these players to the NCAA Region 3 All District 1st Team from the following schools: W&L(5),RMC(2),HS(1),and E&H(1).The team includes players from Divison II and III teams in Va.,Tenn.,Ky.,Ga., and Fl. This speaks well of type football players we have in the ODAC- They are TRUE student/athletes!!
These players were automatically nominated for the ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic  ALL American Team. Sorry to report no ODAC player made their team.
By the way I'm kind of partial to the kid from E&H.I know him well!
Peace I'm The E&H Dad and still SKOALTRAINS step-Daddy
