kid: I'm way, way over 29, but my interpretation is that, given the frequency of use, awesome means slightly above average.

If he was more than slightly above average, he'd more than likely be at a higher division.

Also, Bridgewater picked up a 6-3 defensive back.  At a high school combine, out of 129 players, he had the second fastest 40-time.

I figure I better quote this post now in case Kid wants to take down his original message. :)

Yes, and I'd like to stop talking about it.  It's still under investigation.

Chose, choose.  I make that mistake more often than I'd like.

FYI Read the front page April 1 Daily Dose "Recruiting Recap: Let's get started."  There are a couple of ODAC and USASAC schools mentioned, including Bridgewater, Emory & Henry, Guilford, Greensboro, Methodist and NC Wesleyan.

Not knowing much about the other two recruits for Bridgewater listed on the Daily Dose, I do know from talking with someone who goes to school with him (and saw all his high school games) that the tight end - Wynn Sigmon (6-4, 242) - is going to be nasty (for those over the age of 29, nasty = awesome).

He's the highest rated player that Bridgewater has landed since The Roanoke Times started ranking the Top 100 football players in Virginia (I believe that started in '98 or '99).  Sigmon is ranked No. 58, and was on the All-State 2nd Team (the TE who beat him out for 1st Team was Dedrick Epps who is headed to Miami, Florida).

From what I was told, Sigmon is an awesome pass blocker (tied for the most pancakes on his team - Franklin County - this past season).  He's a "no fear" type player.

It's also nice knowing we have this highly touted TE coming to BC with the graduation of our top two TEs from 2005.

I'm way over 29.  I thought nasty was when you throw your skivvies against the wall...and they stick.
GO BC!

I just realized - that if taken seriously - that statement is offensive.  So to any Division III players (or former players): I was being sarcastic with Mr. Uible.

Phew.  I wonder how many D3ers I offended with that.  :-\

Uhm, duh, that's what I was going for with consecutive misspelled words. :)

I'd heard this rumored before, but a story in the Greensboro News & Record this morning confirms Campbell's plan to restart football in 2008.  The Camels played from 1925 until the Korean War.  I always heard a story they stopped football because a player suffocated in the mud at the bottom of a pile-up .... not sure if that's true or just a legend.  Anyway, Campbell says they plan to apply to the I-AA non-scholarship Pioneer League.  By my count, that's 30 football playing colleges in NC - more pressure on the recruiting front.  lol

(for those over the age of 29, nasty = awesome).

I was first exposed to the over-use of the word "awesome" while going through Air Force OTS in 1981.  I was not quite 23 at the time.

Different subject...  I now live in an AF2 city (Shreveport-Bossier City ... tonight is the local's season-opener), and was looking at the various teams' rosters.  Via one source, I saw that Davon Cruz was on the Stockton team, but another web source did not list him (final roster?).
Anyone got any intel on this?
Thanks!

Davon Cruz was "placed on re-assignment" on March 17, less than two weeks before Stockton had to cut their roster down to 24 players. [transaction release]

So now the question is, what the heck does "placed on re-assignment" mean?  That a nice way of saying he was cut?
