WLU78 would need to explain it for himself, of course, but it looks to me as though he was was just trying to say that DI-AA Georgia Southern would be the most likely recipient school to get Georgia HS guys who didn't quite make the grade for football at DI powers UGA and Ga Tech.  Emory (if they started football) and LaGrange, as DIII contenders, would probably be farther down the list to pick up recruits if athletic talent is the primary consideration.  Peace

True but we all know that Mount Union pulls in quite a few great players from OSU and there are several DI-AA schools in that area of Ohio.    An academic powerhouse such as Emory would be a great draw for players that are just a few inches short or a few pounds too light  for DI.

Wouldn't that be the truth!!  And wouldn't that be great!!  I just don't see Coca-Cola University ever starting football!!  Ever!

Actually Emory does have a satellite campus for the first two years and then the students can go to ATL.  The Emory at Oxford does play many sports but I think they are Junior College status in athletics.

Because there is only Ga Southern in I-AA they get a lot of the leftovers from UGA and Tech, which may explain their dominance in DI-AA with something like 8 National Championships.  There are several DII schools, Valdosta State (last year's national champs), Albany State, Fort Valley, and then there are several HBC in Atlanta that play pretty good football, and then you get to the totally inept Savannah State program with 4 coaches in five years.

rightdownthehall, if you are in Druid Hills you will see some fantastic high school football in the metro Atlanta Area.  The buzz now is that Caleb King is transfering from Parkview (AAAAA) to Greater Atlanta Christian (AA).  Buford (AA) where Darius Walker at Notre Dame is from, is unreal, Brookwood (AAAAA),  and the list just goes on and on.  You should get to some games on Friday nights, and then you can believe when I tell you that LaGrange College will contend in just a few years for the Stagg Bowl.  Especially if you are aware that LaGrange high school won the state championship in AAA 4 times in 7 years.  They have sent several boys on to DI and there is plenty to feed the college, and then you add Troup County to the supply.  So yes there are plenty of football players in Georgia.  Which begs the question, why the state isn't recruited more by ODAC coaches.

Is it August yet?

I believe Emory has the current DIII champion women's swim team.

Friday was a good day for Emory tennis as well.  By defeating Middlebury, the men won the school's second NCAA DIII men's tennis championship and by defeating W&L, the women won the school's fifth NCAA DIII women's championship (4th in a row)!

Actually, R-M's coach does recruit down there.  Last year's recruiting class was the first class he was solely repsonsible for, and there are a few GA guys on our roster.  I don't know how many will be coming up for this year.

Hopefully this will be something that will pay off for Macon in the next year or so!! ;D

I don't think Mount Union "pulls in quite a few great players from OSU." Can anyone here name more than one?

Pat,, MUC had a qb named Scott Wolfe(sp) in the late 80's who was at OSU,,he was a  West Branch kid 10 miles from MUC,, and  they also had a qb/ rec who played at Mount in the mid 90's.I do not remember his name. He played more at end  than qb . He was from Columbus,,I think Worthington hs,,, and of course big Larry K ,,who lived 2 miles from the MUC campus
