Yep.  Baby step playing Sewanee.   Baby step playing Gettysburg.  Baby step playing Guilford.  You know how it goes after that....

C'mon miz ... you know passing for 494 yards and 6 TDs (*cough 3 INTs*) versus the 181st-ranked passing defense in the country (last year) is impressive.

((( I know ... you're thinking "here he goes again" )))

Ricca's numbers were far more impressive than Washington's ... 304 all-purpose yards and 4 TDs versus the 13th-rank defense in the country (last year) will always play second fiddle to the accomplish which earned ODAC POTW last weekend.

Ricca's INTs weren't even hailmary type passes (which I understand being picked off more so than short ones):

1st INT: 7 yards ... 1st and goal on the Sewanee 7-yard line
2nd INT: 2 yards ... 3rd and goal on the Sewanee 4-yard line
3rd INT: 23 yards .... 2nd and 16 on the Sewanee 30-yard line

All pretty much plays that were going to put scores on the board, to make it 73-7

Kid-

You are getting dangerously close to what I call "being a hater"  When you break an ODAC record, you should probably receive POW consideration. No?  Give #10 his props.

Hey now, I own a H-SC t-shirt (thanks to 1HStiger) and wear it proudly.  Hate is a strong word ... just disappointed I guess that Washington had the game he did, we ended up losing in the process, then Ricca plays 3+ quarters versus Sewanee and puts up the numbers he did.  Oh well.

I think it's kind of cool that in 2003, J.D. set the ODAC passing yards record on a 13-yard completion to Conrad Singh to give him 473 yards (the record was 462).  Then 10 minutes later, Todd Woods (same game) went 8-for-8 for 83 yards on a scoring drive to break J.D's record with 488.

Now J.D. has it back ... for the time being.

So yes, the numbers - when standing by themselves - are impressive ... but considering the defense they threw against?  In 2003, the H-SC and E&H pass defenses were some of the worst in Division III.  And that's why I brought up about Sewanee being ranked 181st last year in pass defense.

Kid - Sounds like you're saying that Ricca's team would have scored 73 points if Ricca had thrown a perfect game, but that the Tigers only scored 52 points because he gave up 3 interceptions while setting an ODAC passing record .....

Yup.

I'm not so much focused on the score ... more so when Ricca came out.  Last year, Bridgewater had five games "over" by half ... and this is when Wakefield came out:

After one possession in the 3rd vs. Hanover (at half it was 37-7)
After two possessions in the 3rd vs. E&H (at half it was 35-14)
After two possessions in the 3rd vs. W&L (at half it was 21-0)
After one possession in the 3rd vs. Catholic (at half it was 35-0)
After halftime vs. Guilford (at half it was 49-7)

H-SC had a 31-7 lead at the half over Sewanee, with Ricca putting them up 38-7 on their first possession of the 2nd half.  Had he come out then, he would have finished with 385 yards (and actually, two less interceptions).  But I guess Clark and Favret have different schools of thought.  Perhaps it was simply that Favret wanted Ricca to have a "full game" under his belt since his injury.

Oh, I forgot to mention ...

Ricca came out after two possessions in the 4th quarter.

I will not call Pat Cummings out for taking Shenandoah.

exhibit-A  BC 0-1 loss at home
exhibit-B  Shenandoah 1-0 win on the road
exhibit-C  Pat's last BC experience was a lackluster BC performance at Shenandoah last year
exhibit-D  Shenandoah is the Sub of the Day!!!

Which Pat is this?

Oh, I'm getting so much mileage out of this pic  :D

That's some mighty fine AFCA-style analysis there. :)

Context, please, context. Shenandoah struggled to beat a team in the #180 range while Bridgewater lost to what is now a Top 25 team.

Come on Pat. You can't expect me to put numbers up here to back my statements. Does it look like I could produce facts worthy of your consideration. Look at me, I'm a loser. I had to give you a 12" Chicken Tariyaki sub just to get you to shake hands with me.

You know Hug, I'm actually starting to think that if the Pats had a child, it would be Jared!

Consider...

OK Hug, that was probably the first post I've read that actually made me laugh out loud.  My co-workers think I'm crazy now...I mean they know.
